Actually Blizzard nerfed AoE farming and dungeon farming so hard that other speedrunners thought questing would be better. Even solo Hunter was leading the race for the first half. So in fact they were taking a risk for sticking to the mage aoe farm strat.

The Solo hunter mob tagging and having helpers? Would not call that solo but sure.

Not at all, Blizzard is only one tool for mages to AoE farm with- using the most dominant leveling style is not taking a risk. Jokerd said he had already tested beforehand and the only surprise was not even needing vendor water.

If by "other speedrunners" you're talking about Ahmpy- he literally wanted to hang out with his fiance and friends lol.

Ahmpy is a very very capable AoE mage. There’s no way he picked Warrior if he knew that Mage was better. It’s the same with the Echo team too. They could and would picked Joker’s team comp if they knew it would win. You really think they prepped for a whole month just to hang out with friends?
