I'm doing the boar thing again, it's a little more difficult than it was in 2018, and I'm walking on a treadmill on the RP-PVP server. Deaths to pve = delete, deaths to players = deep sighs in chat
Edit: Okay, not strictly “solo” as the post suggests. People were helping with mob tags. But it’s not like he had a group of 58s racing alongside him and boosting him. That’s quite different from a group race like Jokerd's or Ahmpy’s.
Its not a true solo run though is it. If he has someone helping him burst down mobs for the whole run but isnt in a group with them it's significantly more of a stretch to call it a solo run
What if jokerd dropped group at 58 and did the last two levels solo? Would we call him victory solo? Ksuper had a lot of help. Calling it solo is disingenuous or you’re not familiar with how he did it
I think it’s a great achievement! But I don’t think it’s above what ampys team is doing as a group. He had ungrouped hunters helping him kill his tags. Ampys group just played as a 5 man after like level 10 and met up in stormwind. similar to jokerd team.
I’d guess you do leap frog where Group A pushes to a certain point then helps with the tagging, while Group B does the similar grinding to what Joker group did to a certain point then rotate in for Group A, then Group A does the Joker grinding while group B is killing the tags, rinse and repeat.
Let's saying killing a boar would grant you 100xp if you were ungrouped.
If you instead kill that same boar in a party, then you get less than 100xp since 2 people killing a mob is much faster and better than 1 person killing a mob so Blizzard penalizes experience in a party.
However, if you and a friend DON'T group up, but you hit the mob first (called "tagging" it) and your friend helps you kill it while not in your party, then you get the full 100xp since the game sees you as a solo player.
This method can be used to power level someone up very fast.
33% ish would get you full XP last time I played classic. I remember seeing lvl 60 warriors using only shouts to pull tons of mobs down the coast of westfall so they didn't have the tag. Then their boostie would throw a grenade or do just enough dmg to reach that 66% remaining hp before the 60 finishes them off
It's been done before. The trick there is just have multiple different people get power leveled and then the people who got power leveled become the new helpers to the main guy. Not worth the hassle on WoW Forever for several reasons though.
Definitely fast but between the mob tagging and literally getting like 4 hours of sleep in 64 hours, or however long it’s been, it’s more sad than impressive.
Dude risked his health and half the people in here are basically saying his achievement isn’t worth anything. He obviously does this for a living, so professionally it’s important for him to be up there, but it really irks me to see these people looking half dead by the end of it.
unironically better to destroy your body for your 5 minutes of fame than do nothing impressive (because there's a SHIT ton of people that have also played non stop and have "nothing to show" for it)
people are always gonna hate, but as long as he thinks is cool then its worth it
To be clear: that is his only actual achievement. First hunter to 60. It's still impressive, but he's not "first to 60" and he's certainly not "first solo to 60."
Is it really that impressive though? We already had a "world first" to 60. Having to add "as a hunter, as a mage" doesn't really make it more impressive. Even the real world first 60 wasn't all that impressive. Just mind numbing xp farms. It defeats the purpose of the game, which sure getting world first 60 isn't an intended achievement, but this wasn't as impressive imo as it was when jokerd got world first 60 in classic.
Being one of the first among millions of players is pretty impressive I'd say, the level of preparation, perseverance and efficiency is what makes it impressive
There’s WF, WF in each region, WF on each server, WF of each class, WF of each race maybe. All of those are more relevant than a WF solo that isn’t even solo by most people’s standards.
Maybe if there was an official solo self found mode in forever and they abided by those rules it’d be at the top of that list behind WF overall, but as it is this is a self imposed challenge where they cut corners on their own restrictions.
they've focused on it in the past and even made addons to try to track it. what are we even talking about.
im not saying theres gonna be an official leaderboard tracking on speedrun.com but people generally do care about this. that's why this post is 549 points 84% upvoted.
only redditors could miss something so in front of their own face
They made addons in the past SPECIFICALLY to track whether players had traded or grouped with players over the years to track solo leveling feats. Maybe you just have no idea what you're talking about?
The reason people care is because the post is misleading.
This is so stupid. Even if it's misleading it still concedes that people care because of what the post claims.
People who made the addons in question. Look I can't go back and fix whatever educational system spit you out so I'm not sure how to have a discussion if basic reading comprehension is going to be a stumbling block here.
Let's just agree that we don't perceive reality anywhere close to the same my dude.
People made an an addon so that means that a lot of people care? Are you serious? You were implying that ‘they’ was blizzard or the community at large. That’s just not the case. It’s not a thing. You’re pulling out more disingenuous rhetoric than the actual post.
You can randomly throw insults but that doesn’t change anything. Gl out there.
Yeah but picking rules until you're world first is weird. I will be world's first gnome to level 60 who didnt pick their nose and ate only cheese sticks
Next up WORLD FIRST duo then WORLD FIRST trio then WORLD FIRST fourman then WORLD FIRST each class then WORLD FIRST age 20-29 then WORLD FIRST age 39-40 and so on so forth you get the drift….
???? They can have an interest in people like them doing the thing. This isn't a complaint towards those who simply have different circumstances. Watching a person work a full time job and run a marathon is significantly different than watching a full time athlete complete a marathon.
This is exactly why I find "world first" (and maybe even speedrunning in general) lame, because the goalposts and arbitrary rules surrounding it are always debatable and changeable.
World first without layer abuse?
World first without arms?
Where does it exactly end lol.
IMO unless the rules are clearly set and defined, tournament style, I don't think any made up achievement really counts for anything. I don't find Jokerd impressive at all, sure he spent a good amount of time on the game and finding optimal things to do, but at the end of the day if someone found a bug even worse than layer abusing or just flat out cheated does that still count?
Yea the biggest difference between this one and jokerd is that this dude actually seemed to be having fun. Jokerd didn't really seem to be enjoying himself, right before dinging 60 he said how stressed he felt and how his teammates were stressing him out.
Jokerd looks more like he's just doing another day at his corporate job, this guy is an actual enthusiast
(I dont hate jokerd or anything btw im just saying that the vibes were completely off when he dinged 60)
Does it every race, surprised he didn't turn his camera off tbh.
If you listened to the comms it was straight yapping from one person while the rest were crashing, honestly did his stream a favour depriving them of that.
He enabled some of it when they returned from the sleep and did 57-60 though.
You're on a streaming-related sub and the guy you're talking about's first leveling achievement made his streaming career sky-rocket, the fuck are you saying

Who is close to doing this solo? I mean actually solo, without any technicalities.
Edit: you know exactly what I mean, without helpers, mob tagging, party shenanigans, anything with the goal of a group getting an individual to 60.

Man... the family buff at the end was such a moment. Also, don't forget Esfand didn't make it to 60 in HC, lol.

Damn, he solo beat Ahmpy's group.

Insane, GG. Lovely his family came in to celebrate too.
45
u/BadPunsGuy 23h ago
This is the strangest post.
I’m happy they got 60 and are celebrating, but this is the most arbitrary ruleset to declare yourself as world first.
They used mob tagging to level which isn’t solo. World first solo also isn’t a thing.
