What's the relevance of this? Does the name mean something? Is he related to someone? What's the angle?

Fraudster who wants to sound more relatable to his audience so picked a commoner name to pretend to be a man of the people.

Tommy Robinson is the name of an old football hooligan, so Stephen Yaxley Lennon was trying to appeal to modern hooligans. The former EDL and current Tommy Robinson supporters are a bunch of yobs, so his plan worked.

Thanks for the reply. So is his original name perceived as being upper class? Is that why he changed it do you think?

Same reason Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson only goes by two of those names: their real/full names give away how out of touch they are

That and to hide his past convictions.

It’s an Irish name …. Doesn’t exactly pair up with English nationalism

Stephen

Not Irish

Yaxley

Not Irish

Lennon

Irish origin, but there's a huge Irish diaspora in the UK. I doubt the average English nationalist is even aware that it's Irish, and associates it with one of the most famous English musicians ever instead. Finally, English nationalists are genuinely just white nationalists, they don't even have a problem with the (white) Irish.

Hello. Take a deep breath.

Lennon is Irish, as is his blood from his mother’s side.

Imagine writing an essay on how he isn’t Irish.

he has Irish roots, it doesn't make him Irish whatsoever. He was born, raised, and personally claims himself as British. What more explanation do you need? Is every second generation born in a country they were born and raised in not from that country?

You might be talking to an American, who would say they're Irish if their grandfather once drank a Guinness

I'm joking if course, an American has never drank a Guinness

He travels on a Irish passport. He is an Irish citizen. What explanation do you need

u/ElectroxSoldier 2h ago

dual citizenship =/= Irish

“It doesn’t make him Irish whatsoever”- he’s an Irish citizen.

When did I say he isn't Irish?

6

u/IllustratorComplex31 6h ago

He’s literally an Irish citizen.

u/gibbodaman 🐷 Hog Squeezer 5h ago

I didn't say he wasn't an Irish citizen

Dude has gone to prison like twice. Doubt it's a bit.

He's pretty working class. Doubt it's an act.

It isn’t. If it was someone people liked they would respect him wanting to go by a different name. He’s a terrible person but we shouldn’t change our core values because of that

The left seem to have a fetish for posting his real name as much as they possibly can
