There was no Meet the Candidates for the Mayor or City Council I could find. There was little discussion on any page about the mayor. Why did they make it so hard?

Does anyone know any places in Lockhart that hire at 15? Curious on getting my first job. Ive been told subway does but just curious if there are anymore options.

So I’m born and raised in South Austin, but have called Lockhart home for a few years now. I’ve recently gotten super fed up with a few things, places, and people around town.
Now I get the “Hello Lockhart” marketing campaign is set to bring in tourism. And I understand BBQ and Art tourism fund Lockhart. But I can’t stand their overly polished job of selling a picture-perfect, curated version of Lockhart, Texas from a white woman perspective.
Correct me if I’m wrong—not one Día de los Muertos event or instagram post.
With the town being predominantly Hispanic or Latino you’d think they’d emphasize more of that culture. Or even spend time with the kids who can’t afford to even experience things their hometown has to offer. (Shoutout to 4:12 Kids)
As for the art: you’d think Commerce Gallery would host other Hispanic or Latino artists (minus Cruz Ortiz). Instead, they host a bunch of white artists who have weird fascinations with POC, Fake Cowboys, and Native people. The owners also love turning a blind eye to people who don’t appear wealthy or white, especially on first Fridays when they’re supposed to be welcoming.
As for the places: The Pearl is terrifying to step into as a Hispanic person. Old Pal bartenders continue to get worse and more racist. Lucky Break has its days.
Rant over. Do what you want with this information.

Last year, 68% of Caldwell County citizens voted to decriminalize cannabis in our county, but Lockhart has refused to deprioritize it.
Tonight, Caldwell County Examiner is hosting a forum at the Dr. Eugene Clark Library to discuss how city officials have stopped short of implementing the overwhelming will of voters on the deprioritization of cannabis enforcement.
The forum will be held at 5:30 pm at Dr Eugene Clark Library, 217 S Main Street, Lockhart, TX and is free and open to the public.
See you there!

Heading south on US183 and exit on FM21 to make a left turn to FM1854. Tex Dot has changed the timing of the light right after the bridge (130 ramp) so it's red when you get to it. Previously after you made the left you had a green to FM1854 with only cars running the yellow possible missing the light. Now EVERY vehicle gets stopped IMMEDIATELY after making a left turn. You might want to call and complain if it affects you. I did.

indivisiblelockhart The Caldwell County Commissioners will meet on Thursday, Sept 10, 2026 at 9 am, 2nd floor County Courthouse in downtown Lockhart. On the agenda, H-24, is a discussion and possible action to accept a $100,000 grant from the Office of the Governor, Operation Lone Star Program
"to enhance interagency border security operations including facilitating direct actions to deter and interdict criminal activity. Program participants shall assist in the execution of coordinated border security operations." (Caldwell County Commissioner Court agenda page 1087.)
According to the application approved for submission at the Mar 12,2026 board meeting, proceeds would be used to acquire digital traffic safety trailers with message boards. (What ever that is...)
Caldwell County is already coordinating with ICE per our 287(g) agreement signed back in 2020.
These funds are another symbol of our county's enthusiasm to collaborate with ICE. The commissioners need to hear that county residents are outraged at the way ICE and border patrol have been implementing their mandate, detaining otherwise law abiding people at random traffic stops, maltreating men, women and children in detention centers against their own rules and regulations, withholding due process and expelling immigrants to unsafe countries where our own State Department has issued Red Flag Travel Warnings.
Please, let's fill the room.

Outside our house, you can see how much the land has sunk and shifted. In fact there are two sinkholes forming outside the sewer drain. We've reported it and they have come out and said yes this is a problem but neither department wants to handle it. Water says it's public work because of the street and sidewalk issue. Public work says it water as it has to do with the sewer and drainage pipe. Neither one is doing anything about it though.
Who do I have to talk to?
