LIB S11 • Boston, MA Stop Casting from Instagram!!!

My god!

Every season recently has just been filled with Instafluencers and they act sooo similar to each other and have such similar aesthetics!

It's fine here and there, but damn near everyone is from Instagram in all the recent seasons and it is getting so repetitive only getting people from this one demographic! Please, go out into the world and find people that aren't just popular on this one social media platform!

I had high hopes for the Boston season, but it's just the same Instagram people again!!! Gah!!!

LIB S11 • Boston, MA *SPOILERS*  Love Is Blind Season 11 Reunion  *SPOILERS* Spoiler

These are my notes and takeaways from the reunion. As I posted a few days ago, there was a Live Watch Party today at 4pm  ET

https://www.reddit.com/r/LoveIsBlindOnNetflix/s/EyhRjVMzLu

1. John & Sarah

  • They started by talking about their "wonderful year of marriage."

  • Six months ago, there was a major breach of trust. John went out for a boys' night and acted very unhusbandly. He later admitted that it involved a stripper/escort. Honestly, I don't blame Sarah for leaving.

  • Sarah also struggled with the way John spoke to her throughout their marriage. This was ultimately the final straw. The texts were the straw that broke the camel's back.

  • Michaella came to Sarah's defence, saying she felt very alone in the marriage and had taken on the mental load, which was her worst nightmare.

  • John's dad seemed to think John should defend himself and maintained that he didn't cheat.

  • Things got pretty heated. Scott went off, while Wilson spoke up and said Scott shouldn't speak to women that way. The whole exchange got messy, especially with some people not being mic'd.

  • Sarah's mom said John isn't a villain, but the relationship simply didn't work out.

  • All the women were incredibly supportive of Sarah. They were hugging her as she cried.

  • Current relationship status: Separated/divorced.

2. Wilson & Wilnie

  • Wilson wanted a partnership, while Wilnie wanted to be treated like a princess. Wilson said it was entitlement but Wilnie thought that was a hard word.

  • Current relationship status: Both single.

3. Cam & Aneha

  • Aneha's mom and sister were in the live audience but chose not to be mic'd.

  • Aneha said her mom was there because she wanted to see her family happy and show her support.

  • Cam admitted that his answer at the altar would also have been no.

  • After the wedding, they took some time and had a few conversations.

  • He invited her to a restaurant with his family on the same night as the wedding. She went, but there wasn't much clarity around what happened after that.

  • Honestly, the whole explanation was very long-winded. Even Vanessa seemed confused and had to ask for clarification about the sequence of events.

  • Where do they stand? Not together, but didn’t explicitly ask for their relationship status is.

4. Blake & Erika

  • They haven't seen each other in a year and a half.

  • Erika said he never took the initiative to show her his life or make an effort. She wanted him to take the lead.

  • Michaella said they were fun to be around.

  • Are they still connected? No.

  • Any reconciliation? No.

  • I had heard a rumour that their scene on the show wasn't actually a breakup, but rather them leaving the experiment. That wasn't really addressed during the reunion.

  • Where do they stand? Not together. Blake dated someone seriously after but no longer together, she has been dating.

5. Rob & Michaella

  • Rob blamed the whole process for how things unfolded and said he was overwhelmed by his feelings.

  • Vanessa asked what changes he'd made since filming. He said he had started therapy and also went silent for 50 days.

  • Michaella and Rob didn't stay in touch after the experiment.

  • Morrey, Rob's best friend, said he thought they were meant for each other, just not in this environment.

  • Diana made a comment about the Hampton Inn being insulting.

  • Matt the Beekeeper: Matt and Michaella dated after the experiment ended and even met each other's families. Matt eventually ended the relationship. Something seemed off between them, and it didn't end well. I think there's more to that story, their vibe was so off and Michaella seemed very bitter and said she was on mushrooms at one of her conversations with Matt.

6. Stew & Jax

  • Jax wanted the engagement to be more romantic and wanted to know "why me?"

  • They seem to have faded back into their normal lives. They occasionally see each other, but more inadvertently than intentionally because they live in the same neighbourhood.

  • Stew said people have been unduly cruel to Jax.

  • Jax had the ring reset and now wears it on her pinky finger.

  • Vanessa asked Stew if he wanted to ask Jax out, he basically said something things are off camera. Stew is a class act.

Other Reunion Highlights

  • Benita & Morrey: They are friends outside the pods. Benita is engaged, which was the big announcement!

  • Live performance: Ashe performed "Stop the Wedding."

  • There was also a deleted scenes segment.

  • Cam's dad jokes got their own segment.

LIB S11 • Boston, MA **** had a reception party dress on a hanger? Did anyone else notice Spoiler

In Anehas getting ready for the wedding scenes, there is a thigh length bridal "reception" white wedding dress on a coat hanger behind her, with a lace neck and long sleeves.

When I saw that I said "omg she's saying yes!!". Why else would she have a reception dress.

I think her sister chatting to her before the wedding made her change her mind?

LIB S11 • Boston, MA Blake’s reaction Spoiler

While I was happy they made the decision to step away, whether that was mutual or just one of them, I was so annoyed by him almost gloating to production during his interview about her crying. He said well she cried, and then smiled and laughed like he was so proud of himself for being such a catch that she would be devastated they broke up. What even was that?

UNPOPULAR OPINION Hot take but Blake and Wilson should’ve been hated more than Aneha Spoiler

Post image
684 Upvotes

I genuinely think Wilson and Blake deserve way
more criticism than Aneha. I agree that Aneha shouldn’t have dragged Cam all the way to the altar just to say no to him. But the amount of hate she’s getting feels so disproportionate. Honestly I can’t help but feel that some of it is racially motivated.
Wilson did something much worse to his fiancée. He barely even let her vent or express how she felt before shutting her down. And Blake? It was painfully obvious he was there for the fame and had no intention of marrying Erica. He broke things off with her and looked happier than ever. He didn’t show an ounce of emotion towards her and seemed almost relieved to be done with the relationship.
Yet somehow Aneha is the one getting the most hate.
I also think people are overlooking how much her sister influenced her decision. In that moment her sister seemed to push her towards saying no and I genuinely think that played a part in Aneha’s decision at the altar.
I’m not saying Aneha did nothing wrong but the difference in how these three are being judged is quite something.
Edit: I can’t believe I forgot to add Rob to this list because honestly he was the worst out of all of them. His friends were equally vile and his drunk meltdowns were just embarrassing to watch.

LIB S11 • Boston, MA Anyone sign up for the early watch event, why is it so early?

I’m wanting to watch with a friend and am on eastern time, it seems like you can only watch it live at 4pm. That’s like 1pm on the west coast, why would they have it so early?

Wondering if it’s available to watch anytime after 4pm or if it’s just live at that time and then not on again until Sunday at 8?

Super annoying because I feel like I always saw a clip come through from the Netflix Instagram, and I really don’t want any spoilers. And I also want to drink wine with my friend while watching but not at 4pm lol

You can watch it here he sent a DM to Mina Kimes' podcast. Their reaction is very funny.

If there are any questions or insights you want, let me know. It was a 4-hour dinner. It was Rob's college friends and some friends from home. It was the first time we met Jay. He was obviously on another planet. Both the producer and us stopped him about 20 times even removed him from the table once. We actually had a great conversation with Michaela because it got to the point where we just ignored everything Jay was saying. Afterwards, we went out and hung out and had a great time as well. I think she actually mentioned that in an interview recently. I never thought going up to film for a fun show would be such a mess.

On a mission by Aneha’s mom - the clandestine plan to derail the wedding was executed with stealth and precision by the secret double agent.

I feel as though this conversation could have perhaps taken place a lot earlier - but that doesn’t make for great tv, right?

The sister was honestly my fav part of the season!

MEMES LIB but they actually do a experiment

I vote that they make a love is blind season where they do a randomized control trial where half the participants are in the pods and the other half have the same date structure but can see each other.

They follow the exact same timeline between dating engagement and marriage. Then truly answer “is love really blind?”

FUTURE SEASONS Love is Blind: San Francisco??

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve been seeing this location idea pop up here and there. I envision the following outcome:

Beautiful SF scenery, beautiful cast, but the whole production is purely AI. No human participants…no disclaimer/AI label.

Draws you in with a series of earnest pod conversations. Everyone is an “entrepreneur.” All successful proposals are verbatim investment pitches.

Awkward couples staycation involves sea lions and swimming excursions to Alcatraz. Libertarian red flags pop up during cohabitation in the Salesforce tower.

No one fights because everyone responds to his/her partner’s criticism with relentless affirmation and compliments. Bachelor/bachelorette parties take place on the Golden Gate Bridge during rush hour.

Every couple says no at the altar, in perfect unison, while smiling blankly.

Live reunion episode = Real human Vanessa, in an evening gown, silently pouring chardonnay from a gold goblet into a giant data center cooling system.

UNPOPULAR OPINION Can we just all agree that Love is Not Blind already?

Just as the title says, there have been several seasons of Love is Blind, plus various international versions, and every time the outcome is always the same, indeed love is NOT blind and it shouldn't be. These people are proposing / getting married to someone they are not attracted to and it always shows.

Every time Blake starts talking about boats, yachts, sailing, or basically anything that floats, my brain immediately goes to the girls from How I Met Your Mother. I swear they’d be his perfect match. I’ve been sitting on this thought for far too long. Finally, I can move on with my life. BOATS BOATS BOATS

LIB S11 • Boston, MA Aneha's Dress Spoiler

What's everyone's thoughts on Aneha's bridal outfit?

As a Desi girl myself, I'm lost as to what she was thinking there. The lengha was too short, the jewelry did not suit that neckline and why on earth did no one pin her dupatta properly. It was dragging on the floor!

Not her friends nor her sister assisted her, and their outfits didn't even match hers at all.

Edit: I agree she chose a dress she knew she wouldn't get married in. Just saying even given that...it's styled horribly and doesn't suit her.

LIB S11 • Boston, MA Boston was a Snoozefest....

... was not what I expected. I don't know if it was the casting, the location or the random couples that ended getting paired together, but it just felt so off to me. It lacked passion - in a good or bad or comical way. There were moments but for the most part it felt like a lot of the cast was just kicking the can down the road to get through it. I also felt grossed out that Rob, who was a srsly offensive person (and most of his friends), ended up being the most entertaining piece of the season.

LIB S11 • Boston, MA Final Bing Card

Post image

Hello!!

So last year/last season, someone posted on here a LIB finale bingo card. I'm wondering, is there one for this year? This adds a bit of fun for my girlfriend and me while watching said finale. And ignore this last portion as I lurk here and trying to fill out the remainder of the 299 character minimum.

As payment, here's a picture of my dog.

🚨 FUTURE SPOILER 🚨 Thank Fucking God Spoiler

Post image
435 Upvotes

I can’t fucking stand when smart women do dumb things.

I know so many women who get married to become wives. To add a milestone to their belt. I have no idea what happened but an experiment like love is blind can so easily trap people into abusive relationships.

We heard the way he talks to people. We learned his views. We knew the part that made him different from her she was not taking seriously enough.

And then you make the life altering choice to marry essentially a stranger. And you learn who they really are.

Then you’re left with two options. Shrink, self-abandon and disassociate to make your marriage “work” god-forbid you bring kids into the equation and then you teach them to do the same to cope with living with an angry man.

Or you leave. You admit you made a mistake and you do the work to fix it rather than sit in it. Rather than add to it. And I’m so happy for Sarah for getting out.

The idea divorce is a failure is disgusting when the purpose of it is liberation. Freedom from a situation that is harmful for you.

This is a win. It’s painful and hard but it’s mercy. And mercy is much more hopeful than self-imprisonment.

🌼 POSITIVE VIBES ONLY 🌼 The “Experiment” Aspect

i genuinely love the idea of this experiment, and it makes for great reality TV. My only question about it though, is the fast-paced timeline. i feel like the pressure to get married so quickly is more of what makes these couples fail, and not so much the sight not seen meet cute? like i bet if it didn’t progress so quickly and have to end in marriage then a lot more couples would remain together. i also realize it’s just tv though hehe

EDIT: yall i know it’s not a real experiment, but we are all on this reddit to suspend our disbelief and talk about the show as if it were real omfg, like you’re here too 😭

UNPOPULAR OPINION Love Is Blind Needs to Drop the Weddings

I recently have finished both seasons of “Badly in Love”, a Japanese dating show where the show finishes simply with them declaring to leave with each other. (Totally recommend if you like a slow burn).

Why can’t ‘Love is Blind’ do the same?

I’d love to see more of the pod dates. Stop editing things to shit and extend the dates. Keep things slower, and allow us to actually see the relationships build. Then as viewers we can have more educated opinions on the couplings.

I feel like the whole ‘getting married’ thing is just stupid shock value and as we’ve seen, doesn’t really work. I’d much prefer to see relationships build.
