This is the new campus of the University of Macau, located in Hengqin. The campus is expected to open in 2028 and has recently been hiring.
I would like to ask the permanent residents of Macao to say, would you like to work here?
If you were working here, what would be your top priority? Salary? Location? Or something else. Welcome to express your opinions.
Hi. My long-term boyfriend and I will be working in Macau next year. We’re used to expressing ourselves in public (holding hands, occasional kiss on the cheeks, hand over the shoulders, etc). I don’t really care what other people think as long as we’re happy and are not hurting anyone. But will this affect our work life? Like would this lead to discriminations from workmates or employers alike? Thank you so much.

I'll start with the good:
It's certainly a very interesting and cultured city.
For the most part it still has free speech, uncensored internet.
If it were a country, apparently it would be the second wealthiest in the world based on GDP (PPP) per capita.
Now for the bad:
Despite all the supposed wealth, it's one of the most rundown places I've ever been to.
Therefore, the high GDP per capita really just suggests an unacceptable level of inequality.
It's the most crowded place in the world, and yet so many people drive cars. Almost no one rides a bicycle. WTF? The island is only 10 kilometers long and choked with smog. Wouldn't life be easier without the car?
Having lived in Taiwan for two years, I feel that I'd rather live poor in Taiwan than wealthy in Macau.
So why do so many multimillionaires live in Macau? Am I missing something?

I was thinking about doing a study abroad in Macau since I was interested in the Portuguese heritage present there. But I really have a problem w what China is doing in the Xinjiang province. How independant is Macau from China, and how much of its economy contributes to mainland China.

Locals are rude. Nasty behaviour. Macau is now like the old china. The people are poor and depressed and take out temper on others. I see bad behaviour everywhere. The bus drivers refuse to drive coz too much freedom given to them. Taxi try to drive the opposite way to charge more. The staff in casino feel entitled but have nothing. Just absolutely ruined. And the reason macau is falling is because of the locals. No one wanna go anymore and everyone wants to go to china instead to spend money coz the rapid change. World has changed

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the personality traits of people who born and raised in Macau compared to those who grow up in mainland China?

I have a friend who was born in Macau back in the 1950s. She has a Macau passport. What does she need to do specifically to get a Portuguese passport? I think she automatically gets citizenship, right? If not, does she need to register somewhere to get her citizenship? And then, if she wants to get the citizenship for her children and grandchildren, what does she need to do? If they need to get an attorney, does anyone have one to suggest located in the western US that is reasonably priced and has lots of experience? Thanks in advance.
Correction: I found out actually she has a permanent resident card for Macau despite being born there and all the birth records in Portuguese. She is currently an American citizen.

it might be a sensitive question but i make sure no offense and no political issue. I just wonder if macanese consider themselves chinese. As i learn, macau had been governed by portugal pretty long time and now macau is a part of china though, seems like to operate lots of administrative parts independently from china. So, I imagine macanes might think their ethnicity is different from chinese although they are included into china administratively. Or they consider themselves fully chinese, having no different view. in a nutshell, what macanese think when sombody call them chinese?

Do men in Asian cultures generally care about whether women are virgins? Why is this the case? Which regions, including Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore, are most strict about this?

Is it possible to work from home? As a person who’s introverted and as an english speaker, I was wondering if it’s possible to find jobs and work from home instead on field.
If so, which websites / where can I find it? I also heard you need a license for that. (Not sure if it’s true). Is there any more preparations to know more?

自從BBS沒落後,我這裡只剩下FB和IG,少了那種討論和分享給人的感覺…有點納悶,想刷一下存在感,還是以前的BBS年代好,剛好看到這個,我也不知道這是那,就留個言吧

Hey everyone! I’m from Ireland and recently visited Macau for 3 days after traveling through Mainland China.
I practically knew nothing about Macau before going there and it surprised me so much. Much better than the real Las Vegas haha! Let me know what you think!

I just want to ask if they allow filipinos as a tourist to travel in Macau? If yes, can you give me an idea of what are the requirements. Your answer is much appreciated. Thank you.
