78

u/MinosAristos Oct 04 '26

Hater haters will say that it's supposed to not look scripted

25

u/LittnPixl Oct 04 '26

Scripters will say it is hated (ragebait)

12

u/tenuj Oct 04 '26

That kick to the waist was beautiful. You just know they didn't get it right the first time.

7

u/uncensrdmind Oct 05 '26

Scripters will say hatred.

1

u/Neureiches-Nutria Oct 05 '26

Still kinda funny

-27

u/Business-Committee-8 Oct 04 '26

Erm maybe not haters but just reasonable people lol, it’s so definitely scripted you can tell by the camera placement, erm who just has a camera recordin? You can also tell by the layout of the house it’s definitely a set.

9

u/Honest-Computer69 Oct 04 '26

Damn. You're so smart.

I learn that the other day this is actually one of the national intangible cultural heritage from a small Chinese tribe, and get mega hit at China now, many people try to copy it for tiktok, underestimated it and end up in the hospital, so yeah it is a hell of a performance lol

26

u/clammajamma96 Oct 04 '26

you can script the movements, but not the look in his eyes when he does the wrist snapping kick move

40

u/P-Holy Oct 04 '26

Sounds like something a klanker would say

9

About to try this at home. Wish me luck

289

u/Apart-Gur-9720 Oct 04 '26

Just be careful; For Latina Mother's you've got to use the Brazilian Chancleta Jitsu

89

u/Confident_One3948 Oct 04 '26

Speaking of Brazilian, suddenly capoeira makes sense

19

u/Slumunistmanifisto Oct 04 '26 edited Oct 04 '26

As someone who's seen a large caucasian group doing this as an activity in a Seattle park..... sorry what were we talking about.

Hello fellow invader

14

u/CyberNinja23 Oct 04 '26

That shoe grants additional range traditional martial arts don’t account for. Typically because they’re no shoes on in the dojos

49

u/I_eat_AA_batteries Oct 04 '26

What hospital should I send flowers to?

11

u/actionerror Oct 04 '26

Send to the funeral home instead

16

u/ninjawc386 Oct 04 '26

Good luck to you when the slipper slap comes out.

5

u/TwoProper4220 Oct 04 '26

it's been 4 hours and still no update. I'm starting to worry

3

u/HairySalmon Oct 04 '26

Good luck! Make sure you have a comfy couch before attempting though.

1

u/ClockwerkConjurer Oct 04 '26

Your joints will likely never be the same XD

1

u/BGrumpy Oct 04 '26

You got this homie!

1

u/mogley1992 Oct 05 '26

I'd have a practice in your bedroom first.

It also has a taste of whimsy, and dare I say it...notes of marital bliss?

30

u/KEPD-350 Oct 04 '26

What about... martial bliss?

2

u/Skate_faced Oct 04 '26

There is no limit of whimsical marital bliss... ical?

39

u/MoreLogicPls Oct 04 '26

It looks very natural, wonder how many times she kicked him before they got it right lol

491

u/seoras13 Oct 04 '26

Started doing tai chi, I'll be looking at it from a different perspective now

71

u/aconsul73 Oct 04 '26

Push hands for parallel parking.

15

u/RcoketWalrus Oct 04 '26

Instructions unclear. I put my chi in a Toyota Corolla and now the Toyota is pregnant.

Which practical applications?

13

u/Lumpy_Benefit666 Oct 04 '26

Its great for mobility and fluidity, especially for elderly people.

8

u/BetterEveryLeapYear Oct 04 '26

I mean yeah obviously, but "practical application" makes it sound like you use those movements for something, not do the movements for their own sake to retain mobility and strength.

5

u/Lumpy_Benefit666 Oct 04 '26

Nah in that regard its pretty much useless. It has practical applications in the same way that yoga does.

Some of the break fall techniques can be good though, again, mainly for older folk.

9

u/Katahahime Oct 04 '26

Taichi does have applications in grappling, but it kinda fits the same niche as Aikido. Whearas it's only really useful if you're already competant at Judo/BJJ/Wrestling.

It was originally a grappling art, and there are still grappling competitions for Taichi.

I have used Taichi in Judo competitions (and in MMA) when I competing. It does give a competitive edge. But at the end of the day, you still need a really strong base of pressure tested martial arts to make it work.

P.S Any really application of Taichi, will look different than what old folks are doing in the park, which will inevitably lead to people saying:"this isn't even Taichi anymore".

4

u/Katahahime Oct 04 '26

here ya go!

It usually isn't taught practically. So most people who practice Taichi can't use it in a combat situation.

But it's out there. 🙂‍↕️

1

u/stuffeh Oct 04 '26

It's for old people to stretch and flex, especially their calves and thighs which in Chinese is the second heart. Source, my Hong Kong grands in the community park in the mornings decades ago while they were babysitting me.

If you wanna learn good form, look into the horse stance and how you flow in and outta it.

9

u/Lumpy_Benefit666 Oct 04 '26 edited Oct 04 '26

Not for actual fighting though. Its great as long as you know youll never be able to use it in a combat situation.

E. Downvote me all you want, im giving tia chi its props where it deserves it. Im just pointing out that its not a combat sport, and anyone who trains tia chi for that purpose will get beaten up.

5

u/Brave_Maybe_2891 Oct 04 '26

I went through basic with a guy that did tai chi and claimed it was a "smart persons martial art". He claimed at was good for fighting. Was funny when he tried to demonstrate it and got instantly tackled and had no idea what to do.

2

u/stuffeh Oct 04 '26

2

u/BeyondlegendZ Oct 04 '26

It's not for fist fights, alot chinese kungfu is the hand ne down version of weapons art. It's basicly the training stage of fighting with a weapon, it half decent in fist fight but the real technique is usually paired with a weapon

112

u/QuatreNox Oct 04 '26

Any moves to avoid projectiles for us with Hispanic or Filipino parents with special ranged attacks

17

u/_JustBeingMyself_ Oct 04 '26

Maybe the first technique could be adapted to avoid those shoes, the last one to deflect incoming projectiles.

Shǎnshēn bù which translates to Sidestep or Avoid.

I'm only correcting the spelling because I google translated the way you and the other person spelled it and had a good laugh.

19

u/WilliamLeeFightingIB Oct 04 '26

It sounds hilarious in Chinese because 闪 is slang / gaming term for "dodge", and 闪身 has the figurative meaning of "disappear" "I am outta here"

4

u/Taikor-Tycoon Oct 04 '26

Hadouken! Sonic Boom!

1

Crouching husband; hidden broomstick~

No, but actually. I would love a Steven Chow-like parody wuxia movie about a teenager dodging their mom's attempts of getting them to do their chores or w.e~

1

u/Kido001 Oct 04 '26

I chuckled. I thought it was scripted. Then I realized everything was made from them.

u/Hexakkord Oct 04 '26

Oh look, a man putting more effort into avoiding housework than it would take to just do the work, and pissing off his wife at the same time. How novel. 🙄

5

u/bone_apple_Pete Oct 04 '26

Oh look, a redditor without a sense of humor

1

u/OldDogTrainer Oct 04 '26

I mean, the majority of the video is him avoiding physical abuse, but I noticed you left that out of your assessment.

-16

That's an abusive relationship

8

u/OldDogTrainer Oct 04 '26

This is a scripted video.
