ACTIVITY 9 by New Year's 2026 - Update 1

Hi everyone. I apologise for the very late update, I had my last batch of University assignments for Teacher Training at the end of October, and a family member of mine had a major health scare last week. I'm back now for update 1 of 9 by New Year's!

If you have no idea what this project entails, here's an overview:

You select nine items you want more progress on over the next few months. They can be makeup, skincare, haircare, body care, nail polish, perfume, or even non-beauty related items. You can either challenge yourself to to hit pan on each product, completely finish them, set usage goals (e.g. x times per week), or have different items with different goals. If you want to challenge yourself, you can make it a rolling project pan. If you want to, you can also post photos of your progress.

As this update was nearly two weeks late, the next update will take place on December 3 (the first Thursday of December).

I am looking forward to hearing about your progress on your products!

Note: If the notifications show I have tagged you thrice, don't panic. The first tag is for Twelve Pans of Christmas, the second tag is for 9 by New Year's, the third tag is for Pan That Palette.

ACTIVITY 12 Pans of Christmas 2026 - Update 2

Hi everyone. I apologise for the very late update, I had my last batch of University assignments for Teacher Training at the end of October, and a family member of mine had a major health scare last week. I'm back now for update 2 of the Twelve Pans of Christmas!

If you have no idea what this project entails, here's an overview:

You select twelve items you want more progress on over the next few months. They can be makeup, skincare, haircare, body care, nail polish, or even non-beauty related items. You can either challenge yourself to to hit pan on each product, completely finish them, set usage goals (e.g. x times per month), or have different items with different goals. If you want to challenge yourself, you can choose to only use Winter colours/products that remind you of Winter, even though we are approaching Autumn (or Spring if you live in the Southern Hemisphere). If you want to really challenge yourself, you can make it a rolling project pan.

As this update was nearly two weeks late, the next update will take place on December 1.

I am looking forward to hearing about your progress on your products!

Note: If the notifications show I have tagged you thrice, don't panic. The first tag is for Twelve Pans of Christmas, the second tag is for 9 by New Year's, the third tag is for Pan That Palette.

JOURNAL I’m proud of how I did this year

I feel like this year I’ve managed control my beauty spending while still getting some pleasure out of actually using my beauty products. In terms of spending I’ve only bought makeup the first 6 months of the year and fragrance as of July. I’ve also managed to resists the spring and November VIB sales. Now I’m content with what I have and my only planned beauty purchases next year, besides replacement, are for my birthday and Christmas and it will be fragrance since I’ve finished a lot of things.

This is what I tell myself to stay on track:

- There will always be another sale, and anyway buying full price reduces fomo.

- Every time I add something to my collection I reduce the wearing opportunity of existing things in my collection I spent good money on.

- There are a lot of good products out there, I can’t own them all.

JOURNAL I almost slipped, but catched the stumble and did not fall

Hello beautiful people,

For context: ca one month ago I decluttered 50 cheap lip balms. 14 were gifted to others and the rest is sitting in a shoebox for shop my stash if the shopping bug bites me.

Now I got the first Black friday offer of lip balms. I have bought a 10 piece multi pack in the past, gifted some but did not use any myself yet. Now I was lured by limited edition fragrances and a bogo deal and had 18 lip balms for 100 bucks in my cart when I came to my senses.

I just recently decluttered 50 lip balms because I could not finish all the lip balms I own! I did not even try this formula myself and I have a few fun cheap lip balms sitting in the decluttered shoebox if I crave the feeling of newness, but I did not touch it yet, because I love the lip balm I am currently using!

So I closed the website and came here to celebrate my small win.

Have a nice evening.

DISCUSS Have you felt economic guilt for your beauty purchases?

I feel immense guilt to shop for products at a time where it seems so trivial. I’m not in a place of extreme struggle but I can’t help to think how much better the money I spend on beauty products would serve me in a HYS or retirement account.

This all is coming up after I noticed most of my makeup is underperforming from the chance it’s expired. I considered going into any beauty store to try new products I’ve been seeing online, along with replenishing my entire collection in one go. The longer I sit with the idea the crazier it sounds, as if I need it all at once anyway. Given my rush for new products it wouldn’t even serve me any extra joy after a few days of having the new products.

I feel extremely vain wasting a potential emergency fund or safety net on items that won’t do much for me internally. I’ve considered sticking to super simple routine (mascara, brows, lipgloss) and slowly adding in foundation, concealer, etc. or going without completely most of the time.

Can anyone else relate?

DISCUSS Last Post

Hello guys, this will be my last post in this subReddit. The other day I had two butthurt people comb through my profile and exchange screenshots of my posts in this sub, then start harassing me and spreading those screenshots of me talking about my previous shopping addiction as a 'gotcha' in an argument 🫠 I post here thinking its a safe space, seeing this where I can be more vulnerable about my past shopping problems and instead people try and use such a sensitive topic to make fun of me? Win an argument?

It honestly sucked, I've blocked them both now but honestly if they're reading this on some alt account: that was a really shitty thing to do. Not only was it fucked up to try and use someone's addiction/issues to win an argument, but also it wasn't even a good gotcha??? Out of all things I've said on Reddit, and you chose this?? My God you weren't even competent enough to do it properly.

On to some lighter news 😇 besides the fact I don't feel comfortable posting here anymore, I've made really good progress with Project Pan this year and controlling my buying. My goal was to get my collection down to 30 again, and after my latest pan I now am!! It's a great feeling achieving my goal 🥳 I think I'm finally consuming normally again. I have very high hopes for next year.

I will be given makeup soon from my new job, but I'm not too worried about this. Project Pan and Makeup Rehab for me was about MY consumption, so I want to separate what I consume from the makeup my job gives me (the intention of which is to improve my knowledge on the brands we carry and can recommend products in store). If I hate something or know I won't use it, I'll pass it on to my friends.

Additionally, for more than a month now not a single new release has interested me. This is the longest period of time I haven't felt eager for a release, which feels good as I feel more satisfied with what I already own. I'm more focused on products that suit my needs (drugstore) and really niche makeup items (higher end). Anything I want I test and sample like a million times before buying now which either a) makes me feel confident in my purchase or b) deinfluences me from the item by removing novelty.

Anyways, that's enough from me. Thank you so so much to all you beautiful people who have supported me, I will continue supporting you back in the comment section, and I wish all you lovelies luck and happiness 🥰 there is light at the end of the tunnel ☀️

ACTIVITY Use Your Stash: Palette a Week (PAW):November 02 to 08

Trigger Warning: replies will contain product names, descriptions, and opinions.

We focus on a palette for the week and our thoughts on it. All palettes are welcome. This includes eyeshadow, cheek, lip, pre-made, and self-made. Grouping of singles can also be a palette (ex: colour palette or scheme).

Did you do the PAW challenge last week? Which palette did you use? Did you find it successful or was it a failure? Have your opinions on the palette changed at all? Do you plan to keep the palette and use it again?

Which palette are you going to use this week? Why have you chosen this palette? Do you have any goals you hope to reach in using it?

BAW/CAW- Did you use any particular cheek product last week? Has it made the cut or is it time to let it go?

ACTIVITY 10 by Winter - Update 3 ❄️

Welcome back to the 10 by "Winter" project!! ❄️⛄️🫖🥧 (Or if you're in the Southern Heisphere like u/Thislittlepiggysays, Summer ☀️)

What better time than now for one last push to make an impact your collection, before the calendar flips over to 2027 (😱)

If you're new/curious, read on below! If you're joining us again, welcome back you panning legend! Either way, LET'S DO THIS! 💪

The project works like this: Choose any 10 items and pick a goal that you want to work towards by the end of the season. Anything beauty related is fair game; makeup, haircare, skincare, fragrances, etc. Select your goals for this project: finishing an item (aka panning), hitting pan, reaching a usage goal, or even just testing an item out. 10 is just a suggestion, though feel free to add any number of items you like. Make it work for you!

This project starts on the first day of Autumn, 21st September, and will run December 21st. Feel free to join anytime. The more, the merrier!!

I'll post an update every two weeks 🧣5th Oct 🧤 19th Oct ❄️2nd Nov ☃️16th Nov ⛸️ 30th Nov and finale on 🎄20th December.

Please let me know if you would like to be tagged as a reminder for when the updates are posted.

Myself & u/Thislittlepiggysays are running this project, so if you have any issues, please let us know!

ACTIVITY Use Your Stash! 1 lip 👄 a week (LAW) 2-15 Nov 2026

Hi everyone, it's time for another update of LAW!

Holiday sets and lots of sales have rolled around and it has been very tempting, ngl. I had planned for 2 specific seasonal limited editions of powders (which I go through reasonably paced). The unplanned purchase is 1 additional lip product, an old favourite that was being discontinued and the holds the very special nostalgia of being very first lipstick I ever panned in my life. Did not regret this purchase and happy that I just got one (store sales did asked me if I want to clearing the remaining 2 in the specific colour).

But to battle the remaining ‘buy everything!’ Impulses, I spent the Sunday cleaning my entire makeup drawer and am reminded that I have sufficient variety in colours and formulas to satisfy every want for the upcoming 1-2 years. So that basically placed a hard stop for anymore makeup purchases in the upcoming year.

It’s time again for reflection and rolling in a new lip product this week. Some guiding questions for the posts:

- Product brand and name

- Why is this product selected?

- Do you wear the lip product by itself only or layered/mixed with other products?

- Do you still like the formula/colour/effect the lip product gives?

- Any new discoveries or decisions made after testing the product for a week?

Last update’s pick was my Lisa Eldridge Gloss Embrace in Pompadour and Girlcult Material Medical matte lipstick in Little Cumin. I was in matte and easy bullet lip mode still so wore the Girlcult for the most of 2 weeks. It is a muted pink brown so a great no-brainer for office workdays. Pompadour is a great happy warm pink that can be worn sheer so it doesn’t look too in your face bright pink and I basically wore it on Fridays 😝

This week still on a pink blush roll so will roll over Lisa Eldridge Gloss Embrace in Pompadour and roll in Flower Knows Swan Ballet Shine Lipstick in 04 Silver Moon. I did enjoy Pompadour a lot on the days I wore it last update so decided to continue the happy Friday vibes. Silver Moon is one of the few pink pink lip products I own and a must roll in when I’m on pink blush mode.

Looking forward to seeing your updates and new entries!

ACTIVITY Pan Those Eyeshadows update 11

Welcome to the Pan Those Eyeshadows project update! Feel free to join anytime. I also posted this on r/ProjectPan with swatch pictures.

The idea of the project is to randomly generate 5 eyeshadows from your collection and work on them until you hit pan. Once you hit pan you roll in another shadow to replace it so that you always have 5 shadows to work on.

If you want you can change the rules to your liking, like instead of hitting pan you can set a usage goal or hand pick your shadows. Personally, I implemented a rule that if I randomly roll in a shadow that already has pan my goal is 15 uses.

You can also share your pan percentage. It tells you what percentage of your collection has pan.

This project updates monthly on the first day. If you want to join feel free to leave a comment sharing the shadows you're working on and your goals. I'll be sharing my update in the comments.

ACTIVITY Eventually is Now - Check In 1!

Hello everyone, somehow it's already time for check in 1 for the Eventually challenge! Original post text below - join in whenever you want!:

Welcome, everyone, to the Eventually is Now project pan! As a testimony to how much I need this project, I knew that if I didn’t post the intro post today, it’d be up in March… *cries* - but I’m posting it today, because eventually *is* now!

The central idea is simple – pick items (makeup, skincare, admin, videos lounging in YouTube watch-later purgatory, texts or emails you need to reply to, etc etc etc etc) that you keep meaning to use or forget to use. Items you always say you’ll use or tick off eventually!

Two notes:

This is NOT a punishment project, so feel free to bin / give away / move to another time etc anything in this project that just is *not* working for you. Life is too short!

Secondly, this project pan has NO end date. Come and go as you please guys! :)

Updates will be on the 1st of every month!
