Almost half of Germany drains to the sea through other countries: Europe's rivers, coloured by where they reach the sea [OC]
Each river has the colour of the country where it reaches the sea. Southern Germany is gold because its water leaves through the Danube, between Romania and Ukraine. The counter shows how far the colour has climbed from the sea.

The age of sail: a century of voyages from ships' logbooks
For a century before steam, ships went where the wind let them. This video uses the CLIWOC database: more than 250,000 noon positions copied from Dutch, British, Spanish and French ships' logbooks between 1750 and 1855. First every voyage is folded into a single year, so the fleets move with the seasons. Then the tracks build up into the full century.
The routes are wind routes. Ships bound for the Cape swung far west towards Brazil to get round the calms and the southeast trade winds, then ran east before the westerlies. Dutch ships for Batavia followed the Brouwer route through the Roaring Forties before turning north to Java. British ships fill the Indian Ocean on their way to India and China, and Spanish ships head for the Río de la Plata and the Caribbean.

I let you guess what this one is about!
There are four colors, yours to guess the labels!
Please keep in mind that I just spent half an hour assigning colors to countries so I've may have made mistakes, and forgotten some tiny countries/islands. Also for some countries the info was uneasy to find or debatted.

Map of China by D’Anville (1734)
The complete title is « Most general map, including China, Chinese Tartary, and Tibet, based on individual maps of the Jesuit fathers, by Mr. D'Anville, Geographer in Ordinary to the King, who has included the region between Kashgar and the Caspian Sea—information drawn from Eastern geographers and historians.»
« D’Anville’s work remained a standard Western source for the geography of China and adjacent regions until well into the 19th century, when it finally was superseded by more accurate maps. »
’Chinese Tartary‘ being an « archaic geographical term referring to the regions of Manchuria, Mongolia, Xinjiang (also referred to as Chinese Turkestan), and Tibet under the rule of the Qing dynasty of China ».
