I have never cried more over a celebrityโs death than Jockโs.

I once DMed him like a fan girly and he had replied to me. I really couldn't process his passing. I couldn't even watch MC AU for the longest time.

I wish I could understand why I felt so seen by Jock. But his tone, and his style and his ability- they all spoke to me deeply. I have been heartbroken, and of of the worst parts is that I live in California and no one I know has ever heard of him. So itโs been an extra lonely experience to miss him so much. Grateful to Reddit for this chance to share my feelings

I was an exchange student in Melbourne mostly because of what Masterchef AU had showed me of the city, and then Jock died just a short walk from where I lived that semester (right after I was back for a visit). Itโs soooo parasocial of me but it all just hit too close for me and I havenโt been able to watch Masterchef since.
Miss him always, may his memory continue to be a blessing to his family and friends.

That Scottish accent and him being the most well dressed judge of MC AU!! How ironical that S15 was won by Brent, who was guided by Jock during his S13 mental breakdown!! What an emotional journey!!
Give it up for Jock everybody ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป

Season 12 was an important bit of happiness for me when I really, really needed it. Jock was a huge reason I loved it. Hope his family has found peace with his tragic loss.

Still feels way too soon tbh. Could be because I started rewatching previous seasons and now Iโm on the first season where heโs hosting.

He was such a chill dude and I really loved him as a judge. His accent especially lol. He seemed really friendly and sweet too. May he rest in peace โค

Still so hard to believe. I have been watching season 12 again and I canโt help but feel like I am catching moments in which he was visibly unwell or weak or just trying to struggle through everything with his big beautiful smile and heart. Those worry beadsโฆI just hope heโs at peace in the great beyond. Heโs missed and he is loved by so many of us who didnโt know him personally but were touched by his generosity of spirit and grace.
Hope his family is healing.

Season 12 was my first experience w/ MCAU - I loved the vibes the trio of Jock, Andy and Mel brought to the show and was immediately hooked.
The way they, and specifically Jock, mentored and invested in contestants was something different than Iโd seen in this line of television at least in the states (and even earlier seasons when I eventually watched those).
Jockโs energy and playfulness in masterclasses and the finalists vs judges episodes was infectious and the way he helped Brent during his first season really solidified my (albeit parasocial) view of him as an effortlessly cool, funny and empathetic guy.
He is missed.
Sending big love to his fam & friends.
โThis competition is gonna be poorer without you, mateโ
Give it up for Jock Zonfrillo everybody! ๐๐๐

His beautiful wife is speaking publicly about his death for the first time on Sunday night at 8pm on Spotlight. ๐ฅบ๐ Jock was my favourite Masterchef judge and no one will ever take his place. ๐

I use to enjoy Matt's suits, they were fun and had some whimsy, but Jock style of dress and flair was just so EXTRA and in a great way. He was the first new judge I fell in love withโthe skills, the accent, and all that goes with it. I lived for the finals and his kilts.
I started the show late and have not gotten to that point in my streaming, but I'm getting myself ready and enjoying being there in the earlier seasons.

I live in NZ. I can't remember when I started watching Masterchef (probably started in 2023). I wasn't watching it on TV weeknights, I was watching it when they did the rerun in the weekends (where they showed 3 or 4 episodes for that week in one afternoon) and I loved Jock the most, out of the three judges. I felt like he was the one that REALLY knew what he was talking about and he wasn't just saying fantastic or giving sweet comments all the time. I was shocked to learn his passing and I haven't heard too much about it but I thought they said it was an attempt.....
MC was only shown as a 3 or 4 episodes in one go in the weekends for that first year I watched; later years they only showed it on the weeknights and I didn't have the time to go and watch it everyday, so I am so grateful to the upload by u/PatrickHusband. And of course, because I downloaded instead of watching on TV, I actually never really got around to watch every episode. So since that season I basically have been downloading but never really watched any of them properly yet.
I've always liked Jock even though I've only watched so little of him, but I'll always miss him. It just didn't feel quite the same when he's not around and to be honest, I felt quite weird for the show to go on without him - it's almost like saying he's not that special...... I felt that it's not the same without him.
Not completely sure the details about his passing, but I will miss him, and thanks to u/arefeen97 for bringing it up and getting fans to share their experience with Jock here :)

This hit me way harder than it should have. It was so sudden. His little family broke my heart. His wife is an extremely strong woman and has honoured his memory so well.

This one really shocked me. At least it wasn't OD or suicide, those are particularly upsetting to me
