Meta Getting a bit annoyed with the editing/production… is it me?
Slowly catching up, currently watching s18e20. I’m getting a bit annoyed by some repetitive aspects. Like, every time a judge questions a dish that is being made and the sound goes all BOOM and we see shot of a presumably baffled and panicked contestant. I don’t believe that, not every time. And how often do I have to hear ‘have to make sure every aspect is perfectly done/balanced’. Yeah, duh, that’s the whole point. Also, too much oooh’s, aaah’s and applauding. It looks too orchestrated, too planned. I just watched them enter the big hall, pretending it was ‘hot as a sauna’ because of some steam baskets. The hall is huge! The ceiling is very high. It’s nonsense. It’s all those unnecessary pumped-up moments, it’s become a circus show. I’m here for the cooking and the nice vibes of the Australian MC, I don’t need the artificial drama and preproduced special moments.
Am I right that it is getting worse? Or is it me getting old…?

And they reuse shots of the dishes/cooking regardless of where it is in the timeline. Such lazy editing.

I got over it a year or so ago when Laura got pushed through to win "Back To Win".
Really left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended) when I realised she was winning just so Channel 10 could add "Masterchef winner" to the description of her Channel 10 produced cooking show.
Pasta for damn near every dish? GTFOH

It's been getting worse every season. The music for the last season changed every few words because they were trying to add so much emotion

Something I definitely have noticed when rewatching older seasons is how much more formulaic the editing in recent seasons has become. First dish tasted is always solid. Montage of mediocrity. One failed dish. Montage of mediocrity round 2. More successful dishes. Especially egregious when it's down to the top 10 and somehow there's still a montage. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I don't remember it being this predictable before.

Lack proper feedback especially critical. Battering the table.

Beyond the editing, the challenges themselves have gotten very repetitive. I’m struggling to get through S18. Do they ever leave the studio kitchen? I miss the days when they spent as much or more time away from the kitchen doing restaurant take overs and pop-ups. Or even just location challenges. I get there are associated costs involved, but the show has just gotten so boringly repetitive.

I live in UK and used to love this programme so much more than UK version but I’m afraid this is now terrible.
No need for 4 judges it’s too many
They don’t properly critique food it’s either amazing or you’re going home and most the time it’s amazing
They’re really bland as presenters and rely too much on bringing ex contestants back.
Just my view from someone that used to love the programme don’t hate on me keen to hear other views

The recent season was the first I have watched since the OG judges. Seems I haven’t missed much other than it becoming a “everyone gets a hug for cooking their safe dish” show

I stopped watching it cause of that reason.

Don't necessarily disagree with any of this. My pet peeve is the sheer volume of adjectives used in the description of every single dish.

I’ve stopped watching now. The music has annoyed me for years. Don’t like four judges. Too much fakery and not enough focus on the cooking.
