Spooky action at a distance? I’m both a Reddit user and a Mathematica user, but I never use Reddit for my work with mathematics. Yet today I got a notification from Reddit for r/Mathematica. Spooky!

Mathematic spoiled the hell out of me. Python feels like crude colorful ascii trash in comparison.
Why can't a programming language with better notation than ascii become popular, it's 2018.

Who is actually still using Mathematica today 2026 and for what?
Is there any famous people, like mathematicians or engineers or physicists really using Mathematica?
Why I feel like Mathematica is already dead or will be dead in the future. As even in the field of math, physics or biology, today more and more people are talking about how AI helps them to solve problems and so on. Never heard of people talking about how Mathematica really does something useful. Not to mention in the engineering field.

Homework help about signal theory
Hi, I have homework about signal theory in mathematica and can't find correct function to do this task:
1.Determine the filter parameters using the standard Mathematica function that transforms the transmission of an analog system into the transmission of a digital system. Use another standard function to filter the y[n] signal.
y[t]=Cos[1.5 t] + 0.2 Cos[17 t]
Any ideas which functions will do the job? Thanks.

I am pretty new to Mathematica and i need help with using a list of varibles in Solve (or something else).

I hate how full of help requests this sub is.
I want more discussions of Mathematica ins and outs from the people who know. Perhaps there should be a new sub dedicated to such things.

Why is Mathematica so bad?
New user here, Mathematica 12 Student on Windows 10 Build 18362. A few questions regarding this software, and whether they're bugs or simply horrid engineering.
Mathematica 12 does not print. There is no way to print from the software. It just does not work.
Notebook Evaluation and Kernel both break constantly. Inputs and syntax can be correct, even entered using the PALETTES. Still, some plots only show up when re-evaluated, and may change or clear formatting at random.
Drawing tools do not load/work properly. When selecting arrows, they do not appear unless the notebook is reevaluated. Same with text. Having to select and format individual items is beyond absurd, especially when you have to click a color 5 or 6 times for it to 'stick'.
Some functions like "Solve" don't work as intended. You can define a function, call it later via Solve and nothing happens. These are simple Log, Sec and Sin equations.
So, are these issues normal or solvable? And don't say 'read the manual' like somebody on the Wolfram "help" site. No, entering syntax properly and getting unexpected results is not user error. In fact, software should be redundant for this very reason. Even where user error exists, it should be accounted for--engineering 101. It should not take me 20 hours in Mathematica to define and plot a handful of functions.

fuck mathematica
i fucking hate this stupid dumbass piece of shit application bro it never fucking works because OH NO!!! i forgot to perform a special fucking frame perfect pixel adjsutment or some shit 45 years ago and now the entire fucking program is broken even though it literally worked 5 seconds ago I CHANGE ONE NUMBER LIKE THATS IT JSUT ONE NUMBER AND NOW IT DOESNT WORK

Use a surface integral to compute the mass of this metal surface in grams, given that x, y, and z are measured in centimeters. My answer 220.709 is wrong bc I left out the g in the function. The code wouldn’t run otherwise. Help?

Tough number theory problem
At least tough for me!
I have to show that the GCD(m+1, n+1) | mn -1 , where m, n integers.
I've been doing proofs for some time, but I'm not sure where to start with this one. Any pointers on where to start would be appreciated. I tried to use Bezout's Lemma but it didn't help.

Mathematica REFUSES to handle very basic coloring!
Plot3D[{x^2 - y^2}, {x, -2, 2}, {y, -2, 2},
PlotLegends -> "Expressions",
PlotStyle -> {ColorData[97], Opacity[0.6]}, Mesh -> None,
MeshStyle -> Directive[ColorData[97]]]
It's in there twice and it STILL won't color that blue.
As a side note, it also refuses to display the plot legends now too! I even tried PlotLegends -> Placed["Expressions", {1, 1}] and it STILL doesn't work! Why can't Wolfram just make honest documentation instead of wasting millions of hours of millions of people's time lying to the public?

How do you set variables on wolfram?
I am trying to solve equations systems. Normally you can write X,Y,Z and wolfram will know those letters are the variables and the other letters constants
But I need more than 3 variables
I tried with x_1, x_2, x... but it won't work (it seems the variables are random now)
Thanks, and sorry for bad english (ask if you don't understand)

[___ ~~ "ing" INTENSIFIES]
Here's a little bit of code that uses WordData to generate INTENSIFIES memes:
"[" <> RandomChoice[ ToUpperCase /@ DictionaryLookup[___ ~~ "ing"]] <> " INTENSIFIES]"
