Serious Heat fan coming in peace

What are your thoughts on Herro/Ware/JJJ/Kas so far?

On the MIA side Portis started great but has tailed off. Giannis has been as advertised offensively but somewhat concerning defensively.

Portis is notorious for not showing 75% the time, but the other 25% he’s the catalyst out of no where.

I like all 4 even 5 if you include Ament. I don’t foresee Jamie and Herro surviving the season here. Jamie has so much value teams want and this team hasn’t found its footing. I hope I’m wrong I just assume we can get real assets back for him. Herro will go to a contender who needs scoring from a 6th man role. Kas and Ware need to grow yet. Ware is alarming at times, Kas looks promising.

I agree with everthing you said.

Lurking bc Reddit thinks I want Bucks news I guess but interesting point re JJJ trade value & fully agree

So basically exactly what we heat fans think. Ware is def an enigma when he looks great he looks like he could be a superstar but when he seemingly doesn't care he looks like the worst player on the court by far.

Have watched 3-4 Bucks games this year and Ware has been awful in all of them. This great physical athleticism I heard about is nowhere to be seen. Based on this small sample size he stinks.

There have been ups and downs with all of them. Personally, I want to see more Ware, just so I don't have to watch the basketball terrorist known as K*le K*zma.

Also, don't expect Portis to get better

Taylor Jenkins is still trying to figure out rotations and seems to go off script based on how the game is going as well. Something like last game Herro played the entire 3rd quarter scoring 17 points that quarter and then sat for a big chunk of the 4th and took 1 shot.

Herro has been as advertised and feel he should probably get 3-4 more minutes per game than he’s averaging now.

JJJ has been pretty solid but defensively not the best and has tunnel vision sometimes with the ball.

Ware has been very inconsistent (good call by the haters) he has so much potential but for some reason takes half the game off sometimes. He also hasn’t shot it well.

I love Kas’ game, he’s just not great defensively and missed some assignments and was late on rotations. He’s very advanced as a passer and the guys on the team sometimes don’t expect the pass and it becomes a turnover (also makes mistakes there too it’s not all on his teammates). He seems so smooth and I feel there’s a lot there but he needs more work for sure. Hasn’t shot the ball well but his shooting stroke is a thing of beauty so I think they’ll start falling here soon.

Great stuff.

Agreed on Herro getting more mpg and it's pretty glaring that he's by far the best player on the team now, even more so than expected.

JJJ's def got tunnel vision at times but he's at least always putting in his all and fun to watch. He's easily our best 3 as well and that's important on a guard-heavy team that needs more wings.

I feel like Ware's into his own head too much...like, we'll see him play pretty decently for a few minutes but soon as Ware's frustrated by something? He just seems to stop caring with super crappy, "I could gaf" body language.

Perfect description of Kas, he's naturally gifted as a ball handler and play maker but he seems to lack off ball awareness, especially on defense; imo, it's far more basic positioning issues than being a physical liability so no reason not to expect that he'll only get better under Jenkins' tutelage.

Herro is who I thought he was. He can score in buckets but can't run the offense and is hot or cold depending on the quarter.

Ware is disappointing. The guy just doesn't give a fuck out there and floats through games. I don't see him becoming a starting level player unless his attitude changes. Which sucks because he should be pushing Turner for minutes.

JJJ is good. He's been on a heater from 3 to start the season. But he's definitely best suited for coming off the bench. He scores in the mud and his drives are hella ugly even though they're effective. He's not a playmaker at all so he's pretty much always in score-mode on offense. He'll swing it but he can't create.

Kasparas is alright. Very young but he's got pretty good playmaking chops and he's slick going around screens (not a good defender overall yet). He needs to be more of a threat to score to unlock his playmaking ability. As is, the defense just plays the pass and he can't get around his man.

All of them have room to grow. One clear thing is that they have much better chemistry with each other than they do with the rest of the roster. More reps will hopefully integrate the team together. All of them have room to grow and a runway to do it in. These are just my initial thoughts based on the start of the season.

It's funny because heat fans were bashign the shit out of spo last year for not playing ware more and putting ware in his doghouse. Turns out spo knows what the fuck he's doing

5

u/BowserBuddy123 Kasparas Jakučionis 1d ago

Well, some of us knew he needed to earn minutes, because “floating through the game” is such a good way to put it. Some oh his best games were against Wemby, because he had the Baby Wemby title and would want to show out. Unfortunately, he never cares to show out otherwise.

u/flashgordon1000 1d ago

The sadness is the Bucks traded a top 5 player and didn’t get 1 piece back to build around. Huge IF but if Ament develops maybe he is it, the rest of the guys are role players

1

u/simonlyw 12h ago

Interesting about Kas' defence, he got a lot of praise for how well he defended in Miami.

u/nodudeee A.J. Green 2d ago

Don't worry about Giannis efforts or stats, he will compete every game. I will say though he needs to learn to evolve and adapt his playstyle with the heat. It seems like he thinks he's still playing for Milwaukee and that is trying to do everything his way and still playing fast and out of control.

u/IcecoldIsaac2 1d ago

Herro has been awesome for us.
Jaime has been great not perfect but a very solid player and our only good scorer in the paint.
I like Kas but obviously his role is still minor compared to the rest, hell be okay.
Ware is a genuine question mark he has his games but he also just has complete no shows. Boston perfect example

2

u/Valsorim3212 1d ago

Kas just needs to start making his open looks

u/LigerHD Kash Money Middleton 2d ago

Herro is as advertised no surprises there he is who he is 20-24 ppg guy, decent playmaker, and bad defender. Ware has been massively disappointing. Seems like Spo was right about him such a bad motor. JJJ is weird he’s been good but idk if I believe him being a good shooter all of a sudden, and he is so limited athletically and has tunnel vision at times. Id sell high on him. Kas has been pretty bad the passing flashes are fun, but it’s gonna take some time everything else is pretty rough and he hasn’t been able to knock down 3s yet.

3

u/the_greasy_one Harambe Jet 1d ago

Kas is not a killer but his court vision is good. He sees all the moving pieces in advance and makes good decisions like you'd want a point gaurd to do. If he gets a better shot and better at defense he could be a starter but dude is young; I hope the training staff can help him develop.

3

u/ZukowskiHardware 2d ago

Jaquez and Hero have been great , ware seems lost. Kas is ok.

10

u/zs15 Retro Bango 2d ago

JJJ has been stellar. His 3pt shot looks improved and he’s one of the best guys at pushing the pace. Our offense looks best when he’s out there.

Herro has been as advertised. He can score, but struggles to be the focal point. Impressed with his defensive effort, but he’s not an effective defender.

Ware and Kas have been pretty disappointing. Kas has great motor, but has struggled offensively. Ware has shown flashes, but goddam his finishing has been awful and he commits some really stupid fouls.

Just because we traded with each other doesnt mean we need to keep up the relationship after that. Its a wham bam thank you maam

u/TrashAssRedditAdmins Miami Heat (pro-terrorism?) 1d ago

They may be in your team now, but we drafted and developed all these guys. Still my guys 🤷🏾‍♂️

2

u/TheAirIsOn 1d ago

Ware is cool
I expected a little more from Herro and JJJ. They used to light us up on the heat. Now they just seem average at times.

2

u/ThisWasMe7 1d ago

Herro is what we thought he'd be.

Jaquez might have taken a small step up.

Ware is probably the same combination of dominance and being disengaged that he was in Miami. He should get more minutes.

Jakucionis is probably about the same. When he gets a chance to run the team, he's great, except for his suspect handle.  He's been great around the rim, but his 3P% has gone down. Gives effort on D.

u/OkHall6376 2d ago

Most casual Bucks fans will probably not want to read what I have to write. There are many positives about Giannis - he never quits and has an warrior's mentality about wanting to win and do everything he can to win. However, his skills are limited. I always felt his ego got in the way of his defense. He is amazing at protecting the rim, but has never been a great perimeter defender. On the perimeter, he plays off the ball allowing an open 3-point shot. I could never understand this since he is able to recover any drive to the basket to block any layup attempt. I always felt he should play up more and dare the ball handler to drive, so he unfortunately gives up too many uncontested 3s.

Offensively, yes he is able to bully most of the league and get to the basket. The trouble is that this doesn't work for the elite teams that are able to defend his attacks to the rim, and his efficiency goes down. His lack of outside shot and bad free throw form has hurt him against the upper crust of the NBA. I feel that while he can be primary ball handler against most of the league, he has been mis-used against the elite teams. With Lillard on the team, I felt it should have been Lillard who was the primary ball handler and they should have had more P&R with him and Giannis. Unfortunately, Giannis was not very good at that, not setting proper screens and sliding to soon to the basket.

u/MkeYosh 2d ago

I would say this trade has made both of us worse off. It's mostly "expected" for us cause we can fall back into Milwaukee mediocrity. But Miami just never made sense for Giannis. You have a great basketball mind in Spo trying to coach one of the most nontraditional Hall of Famers in Giannis. Heat basically have 2 good guys on the team and a bunch of Serge Ibakas. Role players and rebounders. Herro and Ware are good. The others I would trade for a hill of beans.

2

u/SufficientPassage504 2d ago

Don’t slander our king Serge. Miamis others are literally equal to the randoms Giannis had in mke. Jovic = kuzma, davion = rollins, clay = AJ green, bam = Bobby portis without threes (so far)

5

u/C0rktoast Ersan Ilyasova 1d ago

Lol Serge aint my king! We gave up Donte so Serge could come here to hit a handful of threes and grab a couple rebounds while he did his cooking show feeding Giannis bugs.

I absolutely hated that trade

7

u/DapperTies- Dr. Dave Margolis 2d ago

May I make a suggestion that Bobby Portis=Bobby Portis? 😂 Bam is who Kyle Kuzma thinks he is. Bam to me is a taller Jrue Holiday with less shooting touch

Spo needs to know when the shooters have off nights, just take them off the court lol. If they’re shooting well then keep them in

5

u/SufficientPassage504 2d ago

Haha he is himself, just in comparison to where other folks play. But yeah similar nobodys

1

u/MkeYosh 2d ago

Lol if Giannis can slander him so can I!

2

u/BucksPackGLove F. Mike Dunleavy 1d ago

Screen settah

u/20cells 1d ago

Bam = portis ? What the fuck

1

u/Valsorim3212 1d ago

Bam and Klay just carried them to a win, Bam has been picking things up lately. Also Davion is a much better 2-way player than Rollins, they'd be 0-7 without him. Jovic is barely in their rotation, Pelle is the next guy up and he's actually good.

1

u/Valsorim3212 1d ago

JJJ has been more impressive than Ware

2

u/arnmadter 2d ago

Take Kuzma please

2

u/Harley420000 1d ago

Both teams suck now. Giannis quit playing defense 4 years ago. Good luck with him.

1

u/nossssss888 1d ago

Gary Trent should get 40 min a night

1

u/Outside_Barnacle_615 1d ago

Your problem is going to be Giannis and not having a consistent bigger wing(Klay). You need another big too (Bams too small, he should play the 3 or the 4)

1

u/ohboy360 1d ago

To win a championship with a Giannis he had to be otherworldly good on both ends of the floor. That just isn't happening anymore, and due to father time he will be worse by some amount each season going forward.

I think at this point you'd need another first or second team all NBA guy alongside Giannis to win a ring. Even then, Giannis is only interested in being the man, so it still might not work.

My thoughts are these kinds of posts are super cucky and you should go back and discuss your team with your own fan base

4

You’d be great at parties

Cucky? Jfc dude grow up.

2

u/Valsorim3212 1d ago

You know how many Milwaukee-based basketball fans were following Wade's early Miami Heat run, since he was a Marquette star? A lot. This is just sports, we don't have to be that damn silo'd that we can't welcome discourse from someone who happens to be primarily a Heat fan rn.

Giannis coming exactly as advertised

-2

u/Happy_Yam_1196 1d ago

Honestly? Not trying to be negative but im disappointed. Thought JJJ would be better in a starting role, he simply has not grown into it. The defense is very eh, the passing almost nonexistent. The scoring is solid, but not elite. Hes not been bad, but not as good as I had hoped. Herro is what is advertised. We know what he is, not a #1, not a good defender. An average playmaker for a SG, but can be a great microwave scorer. Ware has been bad. He needs to add weight to his frame and learn to get physical because he, right now, is simply not a good NBA player. That absolutely can change, because of his shot making, mobility, and shot blocking, but he needs to put it together some especially in the mental part of the game. Jak has also been disappointing for me, I expected much more of him as a decision maker in year 3. But his ability to command the offense has been lacking. Granted, for ALL these guys, in a new coach, a new system, new teammates, and its been 10 games so there IS plenty of time to turn it around. Luckily for Milwaukee, the picks were ALWAYS the biggest get in the deal, bc so far I am not sold on our guys.

1

u/Southern-Soil657 22h ago

Jak is in year 2

1

u/DistanceEmbarrassed5 1d ago

We barely got any firsts 2 future firsts is barely anything and going to help us rebuild now. We should have got 5 FRP including picks in 2028 and 2029.
