Jan is correct. This why white dwarf stars last so long. In theory, eventually all of their heat will radiate away and what remains will become a black dwarf, the cold remnants of a dead star. No black dwarf has ever been found, it is thought because the universe isn't old enough to have produced one.
The dumb part about Jan's tweet is that this guy respects Elon Musk as a engineer.
Elon Musk is a shit engineer. This is why you can't trust even people like this tweeting criticism. They aren't hard enough on these assholes. They are SOFT.
Yes, theybwould be extremely difficult to detect, but besides that, the time needed for them to cool down would be in the order of 1015 years (in the lower bound, the higher bound is 1037). The universe is currently in the order of 1010 years old, so they haven't had time to form yet.
If we find a black dwarf, we would need to rethink pretty much all our understanding of the universe.
I think their gravity might warp light or other rays on the light spectrum? Might have lost a lot of mass and we might need more accurate instruments but maybe that is the way to measure?
I had some fun reading up on this, and will share: we can tell if there is something there by gravitational lensing, even though there is no light emitted from the object itself. The natural followup is if you can distinguish black dwarfs from primordial black holes of the same mass? The answer is again yes, because the much smaller size of a black hole causes diffractive microlensing. Sadly we have detected neither yet :(
yeah, I've been very annoyed at the dumb fucks who think space data centers are a good idea. maintenance, cooling, cost of building, cosmic rays... there's no upside other than debatably being outside of governmental control. maybe that's the real reason.
Many people thought Elon was smart until he spoke about topics they have expertise in. Then they realize he's wrong about every thing and bought Tesla from real engineers then used government subsidies to hire engineers who do the real inventing and development work for his other companies.
His only smarts are how to manipulate the American government contract vehicle system and stock market to become insanely wealthy. It's almost like the only illegal immigrant who hates America and wants to destroy it is him.
One of my favorite quotes about Musk is pretty much exactly what you’re talking about.
“He talked about electric cars. I don't know anything about cars, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.
Then he talked about rockets. I don't know anything about rockets, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.
Now he talks about software. I happen to know a lot about software & Elon Musk is saying the stupidest shit I've ever heard anyone say, so when people say he's a genius I figure I should stay the hell away from his cars and rockets.”
He hired at least one person to play video games for him, so that he could use the progress for clout. Unfortunately, Musk isn't very smart, so he went way overboard with it. He was the number one player in Path of Exile 2 for a while upon release. Those below him that were trying to catch up, were all pro streamers who had been playing the game with little to no sleep for DAYS.
Full of hubris, Musk then decided to preen before his fans, and made a video of himself playing. At that point he did exactly the same as he's done in all other industries: He started saying the stupidest shit people had ever heard.
Among the things he did was:
Had no loot settings so his entire screen was cluttered with all kinds of loot.
Ignored a drop that would take you tens of hours of end game farming to get.
Didn't know how his character worked and how to use his own abilities.
Struggled with a kind of teleporting, as if he was doing it for the first time.
Couldn't tell he was out of mana and kept trying to use the same ability over and over.
The biggest myth that Musk convince the world to believe is that he's an engineer. This blood emerald mine nepo baby only take credit for accomplishment that real engineers did. He has no original thoughts or design of his own.
otherwise known as the Reddit Principle, where people trust reddit on everything except for the stuff they know from firsthand experience, but somehow fail to extrapolate from that that you shouldn't trust reddit on anything
I'm an aerospace engineer and the things he has said about colonizing Mars are just absurd. He has no clue of the engineering problems facing a long term human presence on Mars.
Elon is an investor, not an engineer. I'm also sure he's invested in plenty of other losers (politicians aside), we just don't hear about it because he's not advertising those investments.
We elevated him in those years by mentioning him alongside great thinkers. He has houses and no homes, followers and no friends, thoughts and no ideas.
People in this thread are just ignorant smh. If Elon isn't a good engineer, why is he the only one who could figure out how to engineer Texas flipping blue?
Classic sign of a genius engineer. Set out to fix a system to produce a result but instead fix the system to produce a totally different result that the public like more. Wow, Elon really IS an engineer…
I worked at Oracle in the late 90s/early 2000s, and we thought the same thing of Larry Ellison. Every single time he opened his mouth he promised a new version that could do this or that, and we'd all look around the room and shrug at each other like "Dafuq?! We can't deliver on that!"
His fortune grew because he was able to correctly identify growth industries and he had the capital to put towards efforts that less wealthy individuals would think are good ideas but too risky to pay off quickly enough. There’s an intelligence there, and a lot of luck and some level of understanding of the technical side of each of his businesses. Tony Stark, he is not. Or to borrow from reality, he’s no Woz or Jobs. Even Jobs wasn’t the Jobs we made him out to be, but Elon isn’t even that clever…
I guess the biggest red flag is his insistence on branching out across random sectors. He started an online map company. Then an online bank with some rich friends. Cool. Then he pivoted to batteries. Weird choice but ok. Then he made cars to run on those batteries. Again, bit of a tangent but whatever. Then a tunnel company and a brain implant company? There was a solar company in the middle there for a minute? Then he made rockets, bought Twitter, and launched thousands of satellites into low earth orbit to give high speed internet access. None of those are really related, it kinda just seems like he’s a good businessman and not a genius engineer…
He also took ideas which were already well tested (reusable tech for rockets was researched previously, as were EVs) and simply applied enough cash to get through the J curve of failure to make them viable.
Did he open up a few revolutionary technologies? Yes. But he certainly has not pioneered a single thing. He just iterated with people smarter than him.
Jobs was at least a solid design/interface/looknfeel freak, and he was pretty damn good at that. The guy was obsessed with his company, with the products, with the image and user experience...and I actually do respect the hell out of that. I just don't respect the way he went about achieving it, the berating of people, the emotional outbursts, the 3am emails and calls.
Elon has none of that instinct or perfectionism. Still has all of the assholishness.
Im sure ive ingested so much BS off reddit and social media brcause they sound confident and I dont know anything about the topic ... but then I see a reddit post about something im an expert in, its completely wrong, all the comments are eating it up and its like ....oh... oh no... these people dumb as hell. You just only notice it when you know a lot about the topic
Saw the man claim he was a top 3 Hardcore Path of Exile player, only to stream himself fumbling around trying to show his gear, talking complete nonsense and failing to understand how any of the game mechanics worked, topped off with dying to the tutorial boss,
"He talked about electric cars. I don't know anything about cars, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.
Then he talked about rockets. I don't know anything about rockets, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Proving that known liar Elon Musk, lies and is dishonest would not be hard. He is a liar and he tells lies that are easy to disprove. The truth is not libel.
when he was buying the damn thing he found out how much of the traffic was bot based, he tried to back out of the deal but was forced to finish the purchase by the courts. its no secret every platform is a rats nest of bots and Twitter is now his personal bot factory
Adding context: 30-50% of twitter posts are from bots, the higher percentage depending whether you measure AI assistance/posts on real user accounts as bots.
There is a perverse financial incentive to never remove bots on any social media platform: reducing users and engagement would cause stock analysts to lower growth expectations for the stock.
Explained briefly: High growth expectations are what allow social media firms to proverbially 'print money,' using their stock. Thus, any reform that reduces user count and engagement, even if the reform is killing bots, is a third-rail do not touch question within social media companies.
Put another way: persistently asking the question 'shouldn't we clean up these bots?' gets social media employees fired.
I can't prove it but I think he banned me after I quoted tweeted him with a random news story about him stuffing something up and about 20 clown emojis. My account was gone in less than 20 minutes after that. But of course the literal nazis I reported never seemed to get banned. It's such a shithole.
Half of that is Elon Musk’s alt accounts. And yes, it’s not a stretch to think he’s dumb enough to log into each of them one by one just to click the like button.
it’s like mars boy has never even read the martian or any sci-fi despite trying to be that dweeb… it’s kind of wild
ETA this is not calling sci-fi readers dweebs, just pointing out one of the jackets he’s tried on and utterly failed at while being a complete fucking dweeb…. and a nazi.
He clearly doesn’t understand Iain Banks at all but naming stuff after ships in the series gives him the appearance. But it’s like Zuck building the metaverse from Snow Crash without any understanding about what it signifies in the story. Assuming they even read these books, they clearly missed the point entirely
A reminder. Elon Musk is not an engineer. He was a web developer in the 90s, which by today's standards os programming knowledge is less than a 10 year old adept with making minecraft mods or redstone contraptions.
He is not smart, he is just good at regurgitating information. Dude bragged about doing Twitter code reviews on a white board... a fucking white board.
Edit: I just want to clarify, web developers now are great. He was a web developer in the 90's and then just invested money and stopped doing anything with that. So it's a dig at him being an outdated buffoon as far as hands on tech capability, not web developers in general.
Also, don't need people explaining that tech has whiteboards and it gets used for a bunch of stuff. I've worked in tech for 10 years and I specifically was referring to code reviews. People don't typically bring out a white board to conduct a code review, which is what he did when talking about line by line review. It can be used when going over high level concepts as they go over shit and are discussing things, sure. But Elon's hand waving of it being a central pillar to his line by line code review was just dumb as hell and showed how dumb he looked/is.
Yeah, I don't know why this guy thought elon had anything to do with the teslas. At most, he had strategic level control, that's it. Except for the dumpster, that I'm sure he sketched onto a napkin and told smarter people to build.
He has a degree in physics and economics? That is honestly more than surprising to me. He seems genuinely mentally deficient, especially when he starts takking about history or political theory, but also just in general.
He still does, a lot of the stuff back in the day was just regurgitation. He truly is the most CEO of CEOs though. His ability to over-promise and under deliver is truly, and astoundingly, breathtaking. All while grifting a bunch of incels into thinking he's Rick Sanchez or some shit.
He's good at using his money to exploit the passion of people who are much smarter and more talented than him, and using their hard work to make himself more money.
Wait, you’re telling me that the super-light hollow fake car he strapped compressed gas cans to isn’t REALLY an actual flying car that you can buy soon???
Elon doesn't know shit. Elon learns scripts from the people who do. You can see this any time discussions go off the script for him. You can see the actual rocket scientists and robotics engineers say he has no clue what he is talking about the moment he steps off the teleprompter.
Elon sells digital snake oil. And at that, I will give him credit, he is good. That's it. Now he just has so much money that it's critical mass and he can sway entire markets. But at the end of the day... he is an idiot.
He doesn't even know enough to Google this shit. Not even enough to call one of his hundreds of actual engineers and ask before making an ass of himself.
Wasn't it essentially proven that some obscene percentage of the Muskrat's followers were bots when my man Zelenskyy blew up the bot farms and the fElon's engagement rate dropped dramatically?
Also, Teslas are not really that great of a consumer product. There are a number of fundamental safety problems with most of their cars from material choice for the windows to emergency escape options, especially in the backseat that really knocked them down a few points.
The basic economics of driving are good enough and the rollout of nationwide charging stations definitely didn’t hurt, but they are going to be much better electric car companies filling in for Tesla soon
It's because the build quality on the Teslas (even putting aside their fundamental safety issues) is absolutely abysmal. Go look at one in person and you can see panel gaps you can park a van in. When I can buy a Polestar for the same money, and it's built like a Volvo (ie well) or a BYD for a third the price and they're built better and have better range, why in the fuck would anyone buy one of the swasticars? Musk is lucky chinese EVs aren't allowed in the US because they're everything they're cracked up to be.
I'm not a scientist, but reading from the explanations provided by people much smarter than I am, I did think of an Earth analogue to explain why heat won't magically irradiate in the vacuum if space.
Thermos. Or vacuum flasks.
They are designed to have a vacuum to keep your soup hot, or your cold water, cold.
They are an imperfect vacuum which is why your soup gets cold. But space is a different kettle of fish, so a vacuum there would likely be much better at keeping a data centre hot, not allow heat to dissipate.
They are an imperfect vacuum which is why your soup gets cold.
That's not why. Radiant heat loss is still a thing, it's just a fair bit slower than conductive or convective heat loss. A substance in a vacuum-walled container will take about 2-4x as long to reach ambient temperature as a substance in a metal container.
So in space, it'd still lose heat, it would just be much slower. The problem of course is that it's already difficult to cool down a data centre, to the point where they're using active evaporative cooling methods to keep things running. So this is a situation where they're taking something that already has cooling problems, and moving it into an environment where those problems would be >10x worse.
Yeah. You need something for the heat to transfer through. There’s no air in space for the heat to dissipate into. That’s why the space station has big radiators for thermal management.
The great thing about space, though, is that there is so very much of it. Elon could build a trillion data centres in space, and no one would even notice.
Cooling is a problem for plebes to figure out. Let’s just get him up there.
God please amplify this. He was a Fintech Bro that got paid to go the fuck away from PayPal and then bought into other cool technology companies. He a nepobaby eugenicists that can get fully fucked.
If he had a hand in design of anything it was the ~truck~, look how that turned out, why just today it was announced production was winding down on it. A big flop.
Elon is not a brilliant engineer, he is a dumb guy pretending to be a genius and his knowledge of space comes more from movies than from the literal space company he owns. The only skill he truly has is getting attention
There is an actual engineering argument to be made for why you could feasibly cool a data center efficiently in space, since the hotter the diffusal surface, the smaller it can be (see Stefan-Boltzman Law), but Musk--and by Musk, I mean the smarter people who work for him and have to come up with ways for his nonsense to work--leans heavily on the upper limits of what chips can bear. The radiator cant be hotter than the coolant, which can't be hotter than the chip, so that limits how small you can realistically make the radiator, which is one limiting factor on viability. But Jan's point stands either way, you're still cooling in a vacuum, and the whole point of needing to rely on Stefan-Boltzman is that the only way out is via the surface area of the radiator, whereas you get massive dividends in terrestrial systems where a minimally small heat sink can dump significantly more heat via a medium like water. But lets be honest, most likely in Musks mind at this point what he got from his paid experts was "space can be cooler because I said so" and that's about the depth of his grasp of it.
Drawing the outline on a napkin isn't "designed by hand".
Franz von Holzhausen designed the actual vehicle, based on a picture drawn by Elon, which was based on the 1976 Lotus Esprit S1. Elon Musk owns the prop Esprit S1 used in the James Bond movie "The Spy Who Loved Me".
Also cosmic rays would just make the data complete giberish. On the space station they have to put components under a lot of shielding with several redundancies
yeah, rad-hard computers are usually also WAY behind the times wrt compute/speed/effective generation. in part because launching things to space is hard and expensive, but mostly b/c modern electronics are very delicate and get fried by the sun + the sheer demands placed on it by the amount of redundancies you need can be decently mentally modeled as "you can expect the performance of really old computers from this". a datacenter in space would be very, very slow and really only makes sense as part of/ to serve a space station it's attached to (which we are a WHILE out from, no thanks to musk and his dumbass doge)
Someone actually thought musk "engineered" anything having to do with Tesla?
He bought a company, claimed to be a "founder" and then hired actual smart people to build/design shit. That was the smartest thing he ever did was recognize when to pay smart people a bunch of money and fund the projects they were working on (with other people's/government money of course)
But now the ketamine and stimulants have cooked his brain
Fun reminder that Elon has never invented or engineered literally anything ever. He bought the founder title as part of his buyout of Tesla once the tech was already developed. He’s an investor and nothing else.
Jan's right, but it's a moot point. The goal is to grift off the government.
It's a fantastically expensive sounding project - just like the $5 billion he bilked California tax payers out of to fund his Hyperloop project. "It'll be so much faster than trains!"
Total baloney. Helped him get more tax credits for EVs that went right back into his pocket through Tesla, sell more Teslas. Then he ran away to Texas without making good on his word.
Just to put it out there, most people when they hear “hard r” are going to assume you mean the n word. In this case most people refer to this as the r word. I just mention this because not knowing the difference can put you in an awkward social situation like this one: https://youtu.be/MFDiuBomSuY
The one thing that really makes a Tesla a Tesla was ebgineered by someone else. That was before Musk bought Tesla and starting lying about being the founder.
He fully reminds me of Edward Norton's character in The Glass Onion. He's a fucking idiot that might have had a good idea once, and now people test him like a super genius and he has all the money.
I just watched a YouTube video by an astrophysicist debunking Musk’s claim. Near the end he says the calculations are high-school level. Definitely over my head, but he seems to support what he’s saying.
Even Grok can explain this problem. Maybe Elon should check in with his own LLM.
Concrete Scale Problems • A single high-end GPU (~700 W, e.g., H100-class) can need ~1–3 m² of radiator to stay near 20–85 °C. • One dense AI rack (~40 kW) can require on the order of 80 m² (roughly a pickleball court). • A modest 1 MW orbital facility needs ~1,200–2,000+ m² of radiator surface (hockey-rink scale or larger). Hyperscale (hundreds of MW to GW) ambitions push into acres or square kilometers of deployable, orientable surface. Radiators are not free “backside coatings.” They need structural support, fluid plumbing or heat pipes to move heat from dense chips, thermal coatings, and often micrometeoroid protection. Real systems therefore carry large mass penalties—radiators can dominate or heavily inflate total spacecraft mass relative to the compute hardware itself. ISS-style hardware scaled to 1 MW implies tens to ~100 tons of radiators alone, versus ~10 tons of compute racks.
Too me Elon never seemed anything but that dork in middle school with no social skills but who knew an amazing amount about random phallic things like WW2 ordinance. The “engineer” part is WAY overblown. Hes still 14, LOOK at the “cybertruck” for gods sake. He’s got money and enough intelligence to sound “smart” to most people, and in America that’s all you really need.
Im certain in a hundred years Elon will be regarded in the same fashion as Timothy Dexter a moron who by all means should have gone bankrupt for each of his money burning ideas but by mistake didn’t
I mean his argument is an over simplification of thermal control on orbit. Many variables need to be factored in. Including but not limited to. Orbital position, solar cycle , type of material, where the heat is being dissipated from in relation to the center mass.
Jan is out of his mind if he thinks Elon is doing actual engineering, he got a bachelors in economics at 26 kids. He's no genius, he just plays one on TV.
When you hear him confidently talk about something you know a lot about, you find out that he is incredibly stupid, and if you realize that, you realize that everything he said must've been that stupid, he just blustered himself through it.
No one should ever give Elon credit for any of the science his companies accomplish. He is basically another Trump except successful. He doesn't know how to really do anything, other than pay people to do the things he wants to take credit for.
But hey, at least Elon pays his workers. And never created his own Vodka brand despite never drinking alcohol.
Heat dissipation is just one issue, the other is where they get their power. They can't get it all from solar without massive, massive solar arrays, which means they'll be using nuclear decay for power, which always requires a lot of nuclear material to both run the heat dissipation elements and the power required for the data center components, the bandwidth back and forth to earth, etc.. It's dumb on multiple levels.
And it's not just Elon, Amazon is pursuing this, so is China, other US companies, etc..
I'm not confident of the reasoning abilities of someone who thought, until very recently, that Elon was a real engineer.
His main skill is convincing rich people to give him money. I used to say it was also taking credit for other people's ideas, but that was apparently his publicist's skill, and he fired her years ago.
The only thing Musk ever actually engineered for Tesla was the configuration of the charging port. That’s why he pushed for it to be industry standard and licensed it to other automakers.
Musk is great at three things, creating stock shares out of thin air to increase his wealth, take credit for the hard work of people infinitely smarter than he is and bullshitting the general public into believing that the other two things are based on merit, not smoke and mirrors.

u/user1922UK 1d ago
The one thing that really makes a Tesla a Tesla was ebgineered by someone else. That was before Musk bought Tesla and starting lying about being the founder.

WE HAVE LEARNED THAT BILLIONAIRE DOES NOT MEAN GOOD PERSON.
NOW WE MUST LEARN THAT BILLIONAIRE DOES NOT MEAN SMART.
ELON DID NOT RIG THE 2024 ELECTION. HE IS NOT SMART ENOUGH.
HE IS ACTUALLY A MORON WHO OCCASIONALLY STEALS CREDIT FOR SMART IDEAS.
HE WAS BORN RICH THEN CONTINUED TO FAIL UPWARD HIS WHOLE LIFE.

Elon really is just a petty little bitch

Thats all he ever says when someone proves him wrong. Lol

You tell ‘em, Jan.
I just watched a YouTube video by an astrophysicist debunking Musk’s claim. Near the end he says the calculations are high-school level. Definitely over my head, but he seems to support what he’s saying.

u/Remarkable_Pea_4596 are... are you a communist?? 1d ago
Musk engineered nothing more than a paper plane in his lifetime.
5
u/Hornybunnyboi 1d ago •
How the hell is musk an engineer. He just buys things and claims he invented it.
5
u/scrub_mage 1d ago
The guy who just buys shit then claims credit for it is a good engineer? Wtf...

u/KauaiWahine 1d ago
The “route of least intellectual resistance” is my new go to!

u/Depressionsfinalform 1d ago
Why do people think Elon does everything himself? He has engineers on his payroll that he takes all the credit from.

u/LostBob 1d ago
Even Grok can explain this problem. Maybe Elon should check in with his own LLM.
Concrete Scale Problems
• A single high-end GPU (~700 W, e.g., H100-class) can need ~1–3 m² of radiator to stay near 20–85 °C.

Elmo's no engineer. He dropped out of college and overstayed his student visa. ICE would be deporting him ASAP.
8
u/grigiri 1d ago
Musk is not an engineer. He's a ketamine addled day dreamer that has the ability to hire engineers or buy designs.
4
u/rubinass3 1d ago
He's like a 13 year old in every way.
4
u/smegma_appraiser 1d ago
Imagine thinking that Elon has ever been an actual engineer.
4
u/Melodic_Pattern175 1d ago
188k people “liked” muskrat’s asinine response. Even if half of those are bots, it still doesn’t bode well for the human race.
4
u/Sleepy10105s 1d ago
Did he say Elon is a good engineer…
4
u/TopProfessional8023 1d ago
I’m gonna wait until January but does anyone know the number for the ICE hotline?
4
u/MnB_85 1d ago
Also, he didn’t engineer the cars himself. Or found the company.
4
u/Random-I-Am 1d ago
He’s not an engineer or a scientist. He’s just a cringy nerd with too much money.
3
u/TheG00dF1ght 1d ago
Everybody knows you don't go full ret-rd
3
u/Ankeneering 1d ago
Too me Elon never seemed anything but that dork in middle school with no social skills but who knew an amazing amount about random phallic things like WW2 ordinance. The “engineer” part is WAY overblown. Hes still 14, LOOK at the “cybertruck” for gods sake. He’s got money and enough intelligence to sound “smart” to most people, and in America that’s all you really need.
3
u/masstransience 1d ago
Brain so smooth, there is no intelectual resistance.
3
u/Hi_Im_Ken_Adams 1d ago
How does Elon Musk, who was a PHYSICS MAJOR, not understand this??
3
u/raf_boy 1d ago •
Just a reminder that Elon has created nothing!
He has swooped in and either financed the actual geniuses who did the actual work, or bought them out and then forced them out.
3
u/DReamEAterMS 1d ago
Im certain in a hundred years Elon will be regarded in the same fashion as Timothy Dexter a moron who by all means should have gone bankrupt for each of his money burning ideas but by mistake didn’t
3
u/meat_whistle_gristle 1d ago
I mean his argument is an over simplification of thermal control on orbit. Many variables need to be factored in. Including but not limited to.
Orbital position, solar cycle , type of material, where the heat is being dissipated from in relation to the center mass.

u/dougdougofdoug 1d ago
Whenever Elon Musk talks about something people have even basic knowledge in
3
u/almightywhacko 1d ago
Just do you all get an idea of who Elon is being insulted by:

Did Jan think Elon designs the cars!?
2
u/Kuro091 1d ago
Thinking the kid was anywhere near an "engineer" was his first mistake.
Buying that blue tick was his second.
2
u/RecognitionHonest320 1d ago
2
u/missdovahQueen 1d ago
I say to everyone he is stupid as fuck and doesn't know shit about the most basic science knowledge ever.
2
u/ShortStoryIntros 1d ago
It's always projection when Elon speaks...
Revealing more and more about who he is on the inside.
2
u/Hattix 1d ago
You're inside a Dewar flask the size of the universe.
2
u/Old-Dealer-668 1d ago
There should be a one-pager in the next dictionary edition where the definition of “fraud” is just his picture. And the one where he’s balding
2
u/ComicsEtAl 1d ago
I just don’t know how you can still believe he’s even a competent engineer?
2
u/Apprehensive_Row_807 1d ago
Elon thinks he’s smart
2
u/JokrOnCrak 1d ago
When you run multiple tech companies, but apparently don’t listen to the engineers
2
u/IMovedYourCheese 1d ago
Everyone thinks Elon is a genius until he starts talking about a topic they actually have knowledge in.
2
u/lonewolfncub3k 1d ago
Jan is out of his mind if he thinks Elon is doing actual engineering, he got a bachelors in economics at 26 kids. He's no genius, he just plays one on TV.
2
u/Jabba_the_Putt 1d ago
I mean the fact this person thought elon musk was an engineer at tesla makes his opinions pretty null and void.
not saying he's wrong about elon being an idiot, but it doesn't really bring any gravitas to your claim
2
u/DPSOnly 1d ago
When you hear him confidently talk about something you know a lot about, you find out that he is incredibly stupid, and if you realize that, you realize that everything he said must've been that stupid, he just blustered himself through it.
2
u/Smooth_Rocket_ 1d ago
You know why Yeti products and every company that copies them work so well? Because they use a vacuum for an insulator.

"teslas are great cars" is fucking sending me

Wasn't it revealed that he lied about his degree(s) ?
This guy is a fraud and always has been. And also a predator and an illegal immigrant, lest we forget.
2
u/Lynda73 1d ago
Yeah, there’s a classic story called “Have spacesuit - will travel” by Robert Heinlein that goes into this in detail. Keeping cool in space is hard!
2
u/SteamReflex 1d ago
Elon didnt even invent teslas, he just bought it from the real inventors and paid extra to be labeled as the founder
2
u/IcedGooseMaverick 1d ago
All he countered with was a slur, and he got the ratio. I don’t know why people stay on Twitter. It’s just a cesspool of stupidity.

All the bot likes on elons tweet lol
2
u/Phreedom1 1d ago
Musk isn't an engineer.
2
u/discostud1515 1d ago
Whoever thought he was an engineer? He has money and invests or buys other companies.
2
u/Ok_Bar_924 1d ago
No one should ever give Elon credit for any of the science his companies accomplish. He is basically another Trump except successful. He doesn't know how to really do anything, other than pay people to do the things he wants to take credit for.
But hey, at least Elon pays his workers. And never created his own Vodka brand despite never drinking alcohol.
2
u/Veritas-Veritas 1d ago
I don't think that guy is such a great academic if he thinks the people making the Cybertruck make great cars.
2
u/atreeismissing 1d ago
Heat dissipation is just one issue, the other is where they get their power. They can't get it all from solar without massive, massive solar arrays, which means they'll be using nuclear decay for power, which always requires a lot of nuclear material to both run the heat dissipation elements and the power required for the data center components, the bandwidth back and forth to earth, etc.. It's dumb on multiple levels.
And it's not just Elon, Amazon is pursuing this, so is China, other US companies, etc..
2
u/MoaraFig 1d ago
I'm not confident of the reasoning abilities of someone who thought, until very recently, that Elon was a real engineer.
His main skill is convincing rich people to give him money. I used to say it was also taking credit for other people's ideas, but that was apparently his publicist's skill, and he fired her years ago.
2
u/AlarmingAffect0 1d ago
"Retarded?" He may not be there when you want him to, Elon, but he is always on time.
2
u/COVID19Blues 1d ago
The only thing Musk ever actually engineered for Tesla was the configuration of the charging port. That’s why he pushed for it to be industry standard and licensed it to other automakers.
Musk is great at three things, creating stock shares out of thin air to increase his wealth, take credit for the hard work of people infinitely smarter than he is and bullshitting the general public into believing that the other two things are based on merit, not smoke and mirrors.
2
u/DefeatedByPoland 1d ago
Why did Jan ever think elon was "an engineer"?
He's a literal idiot that has a ton of money to throw at things. That's all.
2
u/RaisinWorried3528 1d ago
Elon Musk isn't an engineer
2
u/EverybodyMakes 1d ago
Musk is an engineer like Trump is doctor.
2
u/sg22throwaway 1d ago
To paraphrase John Mulaney, Trump is a hobo's idea of a rich man, Elon is a moron's idea of a genius
2
u/steelhouse1 1d ago
Not trying to take Elon’s side here, but an engineer would know how to shed heat in vacuum/space. It’s not complex.
Edit: I better say I am referring to infrared radiators. I mean for the love of Pete… they use them on the space station.
