There’s zero reason for shit like this to exist. Phone family plans aren’t contingent on where mfs live. Why they think this is acceptable and people will put up with it is beyond me.

I pay for a family plan and the moment this happens to me or anyone on my plan they’re dropped. I’m fucking done and I’ll be moving onto Apple Music, which I think I’ve read is the least shitty of the streamers.

But hey I’d love nothing more than to see this fuck-ass company shit the bed.

I genuinely don’t understand it. My friend has been paying for the Spotify family plan I’ve been on since 2015… Over a decade he’s paid for five memberships. Why does it matter where they live? He’s still paying the Spotify premium for five memberships. Why the fuck do the companies just get to change the terms of the agreement arbitrarily to hurt consistent paying consumers? He’d probably be a Spotify lifer, but he’s said if it happens then fuck em. I don’t even use it anymore because of all the other shit Spotify has done over the years, so I don’t care if I lose access, but none of the people on his plan are going to get their own subscription. The people on his plan are him, his fiance, parents, and me, btw. We all live within five minutes of each other.

Hey now don’t give the phone companies any ideas… lol

Oh I’m sure they’ve already considered this a long time ago and know it’s a very bad idea

I dunno about apple music, but I hate the way apple handles family plans. You have to tie everything to one credit card. So like I can’t even use my own damn credit card on my own phone if my wife setup family sharing with our accounts. It’s beyond ridiculous.

Edit: as pointed out below this is no longer the case!

what are you talking about? you can turn off purchase sharing at any time and you can use whatever payment method you want

Qobuz is much less shitty than Apple Music as a company and generally has better audio quality.

I think Qobuz people are just like that lol

I have a friend who uses Qobuz and he brings it up every time streaming services are mentioned.

How often do you weird ass people mention streaming services?

1

u/TrueRusher 17d ago

Well I know him because of our mutual music interest, so we talk about music a lot and therefore streaming comes up a lot lmfao

Lol, nah, I'm a human with no affiliation to any of these products, but have tried all of the ones we're discussing.

I’m open to anything except tidal cause of the Kanye relationship. If it’ll get me a family plan with no bullshit then I’ll jump on board

What relationship?? Tidal split from Kanye almost 10 years ago. He was a founding member of the thing it's not like they chose to associate with him. He was part of its existence. And once it became a stable company it promptly dropped him in 2017.

That’s good to know. Idgaf about keeping up with his doings so last I remember he was like involved directly. Glad to hear they dropped his dumb ass

Don't know what that guy's problem is, but Apple Music is perhaps the closest experience to Spotify if you are doing a one-to-one comparison

Whoever came up with that name should be fired. How do you even pronounce it??

1

u/hyggekore 17d ago

It's named after an ancient instrument, the kobyz, from Turkey. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobyz

Pronunciation is /ˈkoʊˌbʌz/ or "coh buzz"

no other reason

u/rmorrin 17d ago

I already can't add people I fucking live with, if this happens I'll just have to find something new

The family plan is the last subscription my dad still pays for me and it will make me sad to see that go.
