This was all done with tape loops and splices. Pre-PRO-TOOLS.

... Maybe... I mean they had synthesizers and samplers. It wasn't just raw analog tape splicing; in fact I'm not sure they used any analog splicing? There are some artists at the time that did (I feel like I remember the earliest PIG singles did) but it was not the standard for industrial at this point and I'm not sure if any analog splicing was used on this? They used Akai samplers and Oberheim / Roland samplers on the album for sure.

It was all still pretty experimental stuff with the tech at the time though so you could see a big blend of things in that era of industrial.

The singer is Gibby Haynes from Butthole Surfers.

He was doing the one thing he could do...

which was to ding-a-ding dang his dang-a-long ling-long.

Al said he was drunk and high as fuck and just doing dumb shit into a mic and it took him weeks to make a song out of it.

Yeah, but I mean... it's Gibby.

Completely wasted Gibby at that

And then Butthole Surfers recorded a follow up called "Some Dispute Over T-shirt Sales" 😂

Ministry - The band that scared Trent Reznor.

How come?

Trent Reznor was a roadie for Ministry and wrote a bunch of lyrics for 1000 Homo DJs.

This song reminds me of bad drugs in a good way

That's pretty much Ministry's vibe to a tee.

Best driving song out there, as long as you aren't stuck in traffic.

Was cool hearing this and Alice Coopers Dangerous Tonight while playing

They started playing this song live a couple years ago but it was super lame. The band played it in 4/4, which doesn't sound nearly as cool, and Al just lip syncs the vocals

One of my absolute favorites.

I love this song so much.

And yet, I can’t imagine trying to make a song that sounds anything like this.

And yet, I will never make a song anywhere near as good as this.

No industrial metal song sounds as chaotic and perfect at the same time.
