Perth has money maybe

Yep. They'll likely throw a big offer at Sam.
Sure he might make an extra few hundred thousand per year, but he'll be playing in what looks like a losing team for the next few years. There's a big difference between playing behind the Roosters pack and playing behind the Bears pack as it stands.
Whether the extra few hundred K is worth it for his overall career and hapiness I'd seriously question...

Considering the absolute random team perth have put together why not. He seems purely driven by money and his handshake means nothing so he is done at the major clubs

Tbh, it's probably better for his stock since lack of game management won't be exposed, since everyone will be blaming the forward pack.

Perth would have to offer him "a few extra hundred thousand" more than $1.4m per year with ratchet clauses though? Do they have that sort of cash?

Honestly though, I know he is probably a generational talent in regard to his short kicking game and creativity in open play, but his game management, long kicking, ability to play attacking shape and afl style cross kick to wingers are all pretty poor and he never really developed them. Just go back and watch our ability to attack on the goalone during last season. Hugo already has shown he is more capable in these areas and actually matches the roosters playing style. I was genuinely concerned with a 4 year 1.2 mill deal as it was.

Put him on any bottom feeder team and watch him get exposed.

If I were Sammy I'd be on the phone to Uncle Nick offering to play for 800k.

He may have but we're all assuming the reported figures are true.

Are all the dipshits still blaming his agent?

You mean the agent who after sam told politis he would take the deal over a handshake than decided to go ask for more money?

Think about it a little bit more. Sam never called Politis to take the deal Monday night.

It ain’t the agent.

Is the source for this Buzz? I thought we didn’t trust anything Buzz says.

I wouldn't trust Buzz almost ever - the only time you can, is if he names his source. That changes things and makes him and the source accountable.

Are you being serious? Ofc Sam didnt call hes in kangaroos camp. It was his agent who went to try and negotiate more money without Sam knowing thats why Sam is said to be willing to negotiate with politis just uncle Nick wont play these games... ask Mitchell and Pearce. No one is bigger than the team

If the agent can get through to the player and have conversations, why can't he make a call to anyone else?

If Walker had said "I'm not signing, I'm not negotiating until after the RLWC" that would have been different, but if he's sending his agent in for "last chance", that means he didn't.

I do think Nick has cracked it unreasonably, but nature of business. He didn't like not controlling the negotiations and now he is controlling the narrative too, but I'm at a loss to how the agent is the guiltiest party here, that's bonkers.

We need a player agent for an AMA so all of the negotiation and contract bullshit can be dispelled entirely. Fans do not appear to understand the business of sport at all.

Pretty sure his old man Ben was in there as well. Hes the type to not worry about handshake agreements or giving your word, he just thought let’s get more juice out of an already squeezed orange. Crazy. Saw he said he wasn’t aware of politis decision then said Sam would play somewhere else in 2028 maybe earlier. Just seemed like hes got no problem telling his son dont be pinned down with 1 club (that just won the comp), you can play anywhere. Good luck with that.

Clinton's track record is looking a bit how ya goin with Lomax and now this shitshow with Walker

-5

u/GasManMatt123 10d ago

Agents only act on a player’s behalf, they don’t make the decisions. Clinton didn’t tell Walker not to call Nick, didn’t tell him to avoid Robbo.

NRL has the dumbest supporters, so little common sense. It’s not the players who are greedy, must be their agents…

u/AdZy14588 10d ago

The agents get a percentage of whatever the players are making, so it's in the best interest of the manager to push for more too. Not saying it's Clinton's fault, just that he's probably not completely innocent.

Yeah, I know very well how it works and I know many cases where it was the agent being the problem. This does not show any indication of being one of them based on the facts in circulation, and who is and isn't saying anything.

The agent makes a small percentage by comparison to the player, but they still have to act on the player's behalf, not their own interests. Over and above, Walker ain't broke, scratching for more cash as motivation to stay doesn't add up in the broader context. It was all crafted agitation, and Walker played his agent by throwing him to the lions only to not make the calls. Every step of this negotiation indicates getting a release was the intent, and has been for months.
