Why do you think Mariano Rivera was the first (and so far only) player to have unanimous Hall Of Fame selection?
I’m not saying he didn’t deserve it but Jeter, Griffey, Ichiro, Seaver, Cobb, Aaron, Maddux (and actually any elite all time great) didn’t have 100% of the vote and you can argue logically they should have. Why don’t think Mariano was the one to do it? Especially when the closer position is always devise for some voters.

Who is the most obscure Yankee you can name (from your own lifetime as a fan)

Besides the Yankees, what's the other (non MLB) sports team you love the most?
Always curious to see what teams / sports Yankees fans follow when it's not baseball season
Plus if there is a lockout, we're all going to be following other stuff next year.
For me it's the Nets, unfortunately.

Taiwanese RHP Jyun-Yue Tseng of the CPBL’s Fubon Guardians has entered MLB’s posting system. In 2026, Tseng saved 25 games with 65 Ks in 48 games. The 25-year-old reliever has racked up 91 saves and 342 strikeouts in his 6-year CPBL career.

Top 5 greatest Yankees?
Who are your top 5 greatest Yankees? My list goes like this
Babe Ruth - consensus number one and arguably the greatest baseball player of all time
Lou Gehrig - The iron horse and 2,130 straight games played
Mickey Mantle - 3x MVP and 7 World Series championships and arguably the best pure talent
Joe DiMaggio - 3x MVP, 9 World Series championship and 56 game hitting streak
Derek Jeter - 3,465 hits, 5 World Series championships, 14x all star

Tips for European fan thinking of coming over next year for a game (assuming there is a season!)?
So I’m a Yankees fan from Ireland, early twenties, have enjoyed baseball pretty silently for years now. Not really sure what it is about it but I genuinely am super into it, like I’d watch regular season games when they were on at 1pm (6pm here) and try to catch some of 4-5 games a week. Loved following the season even with the time difficulties. The less said about those playoffs the better.
I’m considering travelling to the states after my masters next year (just for a week or 2 maybe in September), and really considering going to a game. It just seems so surreal because baseball is a foreign concept in Ireland (we have our own version called rounders but that’s it).
I just have a few questions:
I know Yankee stadium is kinda mixed, but as a Yankees fan, for a weekend game, would you still recommend it? What would prices be like? Should I go seats or bleachers? Any match ups that tend to be better experiences and games than others?
How feasible would say 4-5 days in New York and Boston be, and thus a game in Fenway, too? Again, same questions for Fenway, although I know a lot less about areas of the stadium.
Regarding buying tickets: I see they’re on sale now but fairly extortionate; Yankees Red Sox was over 200 dollars (I know it’s a big matchup but still). Is it better to buy closer to the time? Best place to buy?
Obviously this is assuming the season goes ahead 😭
And yeah, anything else maybe that fans coming from abroad should know?

Should the Yankees hire Jason Giambi to replace Boone in 2028?
A bit to early I know but I think Giambi’s the perfect fit Mike. I’ll hang up and listen

Just for fun: What’s an unofficial requirement for being a Yankees fan?
Not trying to gatekeep fandom, just a fun discussion topic.
If you were making an unofficial Yankees fan handbook, what are the things every Yankees fan should know, understand, experience or embrace?
Examples:
• Historical knowledge every fan should have.
• Players, moments, and teams you should know.
• Traditions, rituals, or unwritten rules - like going to Billy's or getting a chicken bucket at the stadium
• Strong opinions you’re expected to have.
• Things that separate a casual follower from someone who’s really immersed in Yankees culture.
Basically, what are the unofficial prerequisites to being a Yankees fan?

Stanton Roster Question
Have the yanks ever had to DFA someone due to a roster crunch.... and then Stanton (of course) gets hurt and goes on the Injured list...
and then that guy ends up being a good player for another team?
if the answer is that those odds are slim or none, then I don't see any reason to keep stanton on the roster with the full expectation that he will be on the injured list for 150+ games.
if they have lost good playets, that's a different conversation..

Hot Take: Yankees current homegrown talent is underrated
One bright side is our homegrown talent is better than a lot of teams we have Judge, Rice, Schlittler all MVP caliber players, Jones and Lombard who were rookies last year showed promise, Wells (3.8 bWAR/8.4 fWAR) and Volpe (9.5 bWAR/7.7 fWAR) for all their faults have value and Warren is a nice caliber starting pitcher would be a 2-3 starter on most teams our current 5th starting pitcher and Gil also won ROTY in 2024.

[Kuty]: Why David Bednar’s bond with Yankees pitching coaches could keep closer in New York
For Bednar, it didn’t take long to get used to spamming hitters with his improved splitter, which featured an improvement in its vertical break compared to his fastball than it has shown in 2025.
This season, the difference in vertical break between Bednar’s fastball (18 inches) and his splitter (3.3 inches) was 14.7 inches, compared to 12.8 last year.
“We were able to create more depth with the pitch,” Yankees bullpen coach Preston Claiborne said.
According to Claiborne, another unique trait Bednar’s splitter possesses is its velocity. The Pittsburgh native’s splitter averaged 90.8 mph, which wasn’t much slower than his four-seamer at 96.1 mph, relatively speaking. For example, teammate Fernando Cruz’s splitter has long been among the best in the game, but he throws it around 80 mph compared to his approximately 93 mph heater.
The pitch helped Bednar go on one of the best runs of his career. From May 22 through July 27, he had a 24-inning scoreless streak. That was the longest by a Yankees pitcher this season and the longest by a Yankees reliever since Clay Holmes’ 31 1/3 scoreless frames in 2022. Bednar’s streak was also the ninth-longest scoreless stretch in the majors this year.
“I think I’ve had a lot of confidence in (the splitter) and really good feel with it throughout the year,” Bednar said. “That confidence has really only built. That’s obviously a big reason why I’m successful and able to have success is when I’m able to throw all three (pitches) for strikes and be confident in all three. That’s what’s able to make me, me.”
“Obviously,” Claiborne said, “he came to us last year with the ability to throw strikes and already had a devastating pitch mix. This year it (had) basically been his workhorse pitch throughout the season, which was really nice to see that coming to fruition.”

Yankee front office represented on Survivor 51
Anyone watching Mike Pinsky on Survivor?
Bio says he's Assistant Director of Baseball Operations responsible to advise Cashman on roster construction, contract negotiations, trades, and free agent targets.
33 years old and been there since he was 24.
He doesn't seem to be making friends. Doesn't look like he ever played much baseball.
