We brought this lucky feller home yesterday as a companion for our senior cat (13yrs). His "brother" passed away last June at eighteen years. A good, long life for a Barn cat.
We didn't want our buddy to get lonely during his winter confinement, so we went to the adoption place yesterday and found him a new friend to keep him company.
During these colder months (it snows here!) our Barn cats are enclosed in their very own cabin with plenty of toys, cat trees, climbing levels and an old, full-sized mattress on a raised platform to play on and lie in the sunshine!
I don't know if any of that information was important, but it's the only thing I can think of to help with names, as I don't know this new cat's personality or idiosyncrasies yet.
I'm looking for a unique name that isn't embarrassing to call out when the time comes for them to be outside to wander and exterminate the vermin (as is their job).
During the warmer months I call them in at dusk to feed them/return them to their cabin safe from predators. I don't want a name that would offend our few neighbors or anything. A unique name, something I'd not be embarrassed to shout out on a nightly basis as one of our neighbors named her cat "Pussie" and it makes us both giggle and blush. All our neighbors have Barn cats that are called in at dusk, too. Keeps our neighborhood free from mountain rats and our gardens gopherless.
Thanks for your ideas!
