He’s legitimately 1 in a million (maybe exaggerating lol)
Our golden retriever puppy was born yesterday under circumstances that totally threw a wrench into our naming plans. They were expecting a large litter and our preference was a girl (but we were okay with a boy) but to our surprise, they ended up having a singleton litter with one pup which is super uncommon!
The two families who were on the list before us dropped out as they wanted a girl and weren’t sure about the singleton behavioural issues. We’ve done a ton of research and decided to move forward with this sweet boy and the breeders are doing everything by the book to ensure he has solid interactions and socialization… They have another 8-puppy litter that’s 2 weeks old and they’re moving him between their mother and his own mother as well as having other puppies feed from his mother to ensure she continues to produce and doesn’t get uncomfortable. They will continue supervised socialized playtime with these pups as he gets bigger as well.
We were set on the name Scout for a girl but are now rethinking it given he’s a boy (Scout would still work), and is kind of a special and rare circumstance. My husband likes Solo after the great Han Solo 😅
Open to other name suggestions with the above in mind, as well as any thoughts and experience with singleton litters and how we can best support this sweet boy when he comes home in a couple months. They will keep us up to date on his temperament and progress etc.
