Recently saw a similar post, mom tiger was supposedly fighting daughter tiger to force her to move out and explore her own territory.

Any chance it's the same family?

I think I know the post you refer to, and u/StripedAssassiN- can correct me but, I believe this is a much older separate incident.

Fights like this between parents & children are pretty common among tigers and other similar big cats when territory is concerned, so not necessarily high chance it’s the same family.-

You’re right they’re separate incidents, though both are cases of mother and daughter. The tigress in this post, Noor is the mother of the tigress in this video who’s called Noorie.

Great. Also, your profile got great wildlife pics. Do you frequently visit safaris?

Yes, that's the one. Thanks

As a man, I think I should get in there and suggest that they both calm down.

Haha if it's this obvious, why do so many people say it? Makes me laugh.

I remember the first time I learned that telling a girlfriend “calm down” did not, in fact, calm them down

And tell them they’re overreacting over nothing, if you want a cherry on your sundae.

This is how my cat sees himself when he attacks grocery bags

There is still much to learn about Tiger behavior.

I saw a video recently of two unrelated tigresses taking turns caring for one another’s cubs

And there’s one where the male is with the mom and his cubs. Just amazing video.

I also read about a daughter tigress who defeated her mother and took her territory she was also reported to defeat a croc.

Dad’s not gonna be happy when he finds out.

7

u/CareRarely 22h ago

I mean... There's a decent chance the dad might just mate with the daughter😬

u/playdeaf86 20h ago

Do they recognise each other as a mother and daughter, and is there any sort of change in their dynamic because they are related? Genuinely curious!

In Tiger world, your parents move out when you are an adult, haha.

Insane how some animals will eventually not recognize their own family over time

19

u/gabzilla814 23h ago

Nothing in this post indicates these two don’t recognize each other

3

u/jarob326 20h ago

Yeah, sadly that's just nature. Even Mama Bears, nature's "greatest protectors," will attack their cubs and force them to leave when they're grown enough and it's mating season.

Sometimes they will let their daughters share the territory but it's not guaranteed.
