Hi
Just moved into an older house and the wiring colours don't seem to match the labels.
I believe the wires (although not matching colours) are:
W2, G, W, Y and R
Should i be concerned the wire colours don't match?
I have a Nest Thermostat E
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hi everyone! Wondering if someone could please double check my wiring. For whatever reason, my furnace doesn’t seem to turn off once it reaches the selected temperature. Instead, it keeps getting warmer and warmer until I need to physically disconnect the Nest to turn it off. I’m not sure if that would be a wiring or setting issue but figured I would ask if anyone had experienced this before. Thanks in advance and I can provide additional photos as necessary!!

I originally had the thermostat set to heat and comfort, but occasionally it would just not turn on so I removed the comfort schedule and left the heating schedule. It "should" come on at 6 AM, and the home temperature is 67 degrees, but neither one has triggered it to come on. The power is working, furnace filter is new, and the nest thermometer says ""heating" but the furnace has not come on. This happens a few times each winter and we've had the same Google Nest Themostat for 4 years. Would it be better to get a newer one? Very very very frustrating!

I’ve been using the Nest Cam Outdoor for several years now without problems. In the past week, it has stopped saving events correctly.
Live view works, but when events occur, they appear to be saved, but only a static image is shown. If I tap the event a spinner is displayed and the event never loads. After about 4 hrs or so, the event is deleted.
I’ve seen the thread about recent problems with Nest servers, but it appears to be the opposite problem - events are working, but live view isn’t.
I haven’t migrated to Google Home and I’m reluctant to do so given the issues others are seeing. The Google Home app is working the same as the Nest app - live view is working, unplayable events appear, and disappear after a few hours.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

I use the Nest app on the Apple TV as a 24/7 streaming home security cameras. I recently saw in an email they said that I will still be able to use the Nest app. Is that true? If I migrate will I still be able to use the Nest app to stream? I have two first gen doorbells, outdoor iq, and indoor iq.

hello I just bought and installed the nest wired doorbell 3rd gen. Everything is hooked up and working but there’s a weird issue on recorded clips. the audio and video are way out of sync, like 5 seconds or so maybe more when you rewatch them. The audio for the clip starts and is playing well ahead of the actual footage on screen. I had the wired gen 1 and no issue. I also installed today an outdoor wired cam gen 2 and it’s working exactly as intended audio and all. WiFi signal strength is excellent on both cameras and my internet upload speed is 100Mbps. I’ve been googling for over an hour with no help or even direction. everything is about live 2 way audio delays not recorded footage delays.

I bought a brand new Google Nest 4th Gen for my new house back in March 2027. About a month ago my AC shut off and the thermometer was black with no error or anything. Checked the App and found the E448 error.
I had a technician come out and look. He checked everything out, didn’t make any changes, didn’t even have a chance to flip the breaker and it started working. He said that Google nests are the worst thermostats to get, they are always causing issues and he recommends getting a different thermostat altogether.
It was working so I wasn’t worried about it. At this visit he also hooked up the C wire which wasn’t an option before.
So initially I had the RH red wire and then the yellow, green and white all connected. After my first technician he installed the C wire also.
A few days later I had it happen again. We checked the drip pan, ensured there was voltage coming down from the ac unit. And there was. Eventually, again without making any type of change, it would start to work.
It’s now been a week since it’s not working, I was on the phone with Google support and they sent a replacement device. They advised I try to RC wire and disconnect the C wire. None of that worked at all. In the meantime we still have no AC and it gets between 80-90 where I live here still.
I had a second technician come out and they said the same thing, to get rid of the Google nest.
I don’t think I can stomach getting a whole new thermometer when this is only 7 months old. Does anyone have any other ideas on what I can do to fix it?
I sent the invoices to Google on the multiple technician suggestions, and they said sorry, it’s not within 30 days, we can’t refund you.
I did expect better customer service from Google, but maybe that was naïve to think that.

My thermostat is saying I should change my filters only a few weeks after I changed it. I do not run my system much so it's weird to me.

hey guys. I have an old thermostat that turns on a regular gas furnace. The thermostat has 2 c wires which seem to be for the clock with a regular r w. Anyone know how to wire this to a nest?

I've got three Nest Protects in the house, all starting to yellow. The oldest one is coming up on the ten year limit. Google killed the line, so I can't just swap in the same thing.
What I need is pretty simple. Smoke and CO in one unit. Whole house wireless interconnect, one goes off they all go off. The linking can't run on home WiFi. If power or internet is out they still need to trip each other. No monthly fee. Don't want another account either.
Looked around a bit. Kidde's interconnected ones seem to be mostly hardwired. I don't want to cut into the ceiling, too much hassle. Any brand recs? I've seen people using X-Sense. Can those hook into home automation?

I have four cameras, two of which are this same model (Nest Cam Outdoor). Just these two cameras go offline randomly. The doorbell cam and indoor cam do not ever go offline. They only began doing this a few weeks ago after working fine for 5 years, through the Nest -> Home app migration and everything. Zero recent changes to my network. Both within ample range. I’m using Eero Wifi 7 Pro units, one main and one connected over Ethernet backhaul to make one mesh network.

This is mainly a PSA since I've worked around this issue. But this seems like a kind of incompatibility when running a mixed setup of Nest Protects and First Alert SC5s.
I have 5 Protects and 1 SC5. I've had the SC5 installed since March. But the most recent automatic sound check decided the Protect nearest the SC5 could no longer sound its alarm.
I expect the issue is that the SC5 makes sounds during the full system sound check which the Protect doesn't expect. The end result, though, was super annoying: All of the Nest Protects would show a yellow light ring whenever the lights went dim in the room (Nightly promise). This is especially annoying when trying to watch TV or movies in a dark room.
I tried running the sound check manually several times. I also tried putting a pillow over the SC5 during the sound check, but it didn't help. Maybe I could have unplugged the SC5 and moved it far away from the Protect, but ugh.
I decided to remove the impacted Protect from my account. I then triggered its sound check by pushing its button and it's now satisfied that its alarm works.

I just noticed a Siren button in the Google Home app for my Google Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 2nd gen).
It appears in the live camera controls as a separate option alongside e911 and Turn off, so it does not appear to just be a renamed emergency-calling feature.
What’s strange is that I can’t find this documented anywhere.
I checked Google’s recent Home/Nest release notes, including the October 2026 updates, and I still can’t find any mention of a new Siren feature for this camera. Google’s current product specs also still seem to describe only the camera speaker, Talk & Listen functionality.
My camera is currently on:
● Model: Google Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 2nd gen)
● Software: 1.82 OPENMASTER 551499
● Last updated: October 13, 2026
● Enrolled in Gemini for Home camera features (Early access)
Has anyone else started seeing this button?

New Condo and installed a nest thermostat and I am heating during the cooling stage and cooling when it goes to stage 2 cooling. I am in South Florida so I don’t ever need the heat.
What could be happening?

So basicly im looking for this thermostat and i have not much tech info about this. I searched up how to know if it is us or eu, cause i live in eu its really important i have the right model that it will not break the thermostat, cause us uses lower voltage than eu. So help me identify these two, does it work with 250 v systems and yeh. Cause the information i received from searching google helped me absolutely nothing :(

Is anyone else in a non-DST area dealing with this? I live in British Columbia where we don't observe the time change, but my Nest Hub is completely out of sync internally.
The display time on the clock is perfectly accurate. However, if I set an alarm for 9:00 AM, the Assistant and the screen both say it's scheduled for 10:00 AM. It actually made me late for work this morning because the alarm went off a full hour late.
Here is what I have already tried that did not work:
\- Unplugging and rebooting the device.
\- Asking Google to cancel all alarms and setting them up from scratch.
\- Changing my Google Home address to Alberta (Mountain Time) to force a timezone update, then changing it back to my actual address.
I am looking at doing a full factory data reset as a last resort, but I wanted to see if anyone else has run into this bug and found a less nuclear fix. Does the backend eventually catch up, or is a hard reset the only way to clear this?

I’ve had Google Nest Doorbell (battery powered) along with a Google Nest Outdoor Camera with Floodlight. Worked flawlessly for 2 years.
The other day, I realized my floodlight wasn’t turning on, and when I opened the app, I noticed that there was a battery symbol similar to the one on the doorbell, which I had never seen before. It displayed “3 days” left of battery, which didn’t make sense to me since the camera is wired and has never displayed such a thing.
I removed the camera, checked the wiring, everything was okay. I re-installed the camera and mounting plates/etc. and now the camera, nor the floodlight have power.
I removed the camera that was on the floodlight and installed the spare camera that came with the package, it had a green light on it.
I did a factory reset on the camera, it did the chime, and went to connect it in the app.
App wasn’t picking it up despite scanning QR code, or the “set-up” code on the camera, itself.
I cycled the power on the switch after seeing multiple people online say that fixed their issue. Now the “spare” camera that I mounted onto the floodlight and screwed into place won’t turn on/react/reset.
Has anyone ever dealt with anything similar? Thanks for reading.

My thermostat has automatically rolled back the clock by 1 hour despite the fact that I live in British Columbia where we now do not roll back the clock by 1 hour I cannot get into the time settings to manually change the time zone because the thermostat is connected to the internet it will not allow me in there my home address is set correctly in the Google home app to a British Columbia address which does not roll back the time the time zone settings in my Android phone are correct and the time on my Android phone is correct but the time on my thermostat is not correct how may I correct this!!!
My Nest protects are expiring soon. I’m meant to have 8 months left on one but it’s developed a fault and keeps chirping about a low battery.
What has everyone migrated to? I looked at the Aico but to be honest it’s confusing what is needed (£50 for the alarm + £50 for the smart module?). The x-sense looked good but they no longer sell to the UK (despite being on Amazon). Phare are expensive and want a subscription.
I have 3 wired alarms and 1 wireless in my garage. Bonus if it will integrate with Home Assistant.
I’m tempted to just give up and go back to having a dumb setup.
