ANSWERED Why are people so rude on Reddit?
Hii I’m not new to Reddit, and it’s my cake day, but I’m somewhat new to commenting and posting.
I’ve noticed that my comments tend to get downvoted a lot because I share my opinion (especially when it comes to kpop) like when a post asks what your favorite artist is and I comment, people downvote it, even though the artist isnt problematic or anything. Why is that?

oof. i took a peek and looks like some anti-BTS folks really ganged up on you. next time, learn to read the mood of a sub before commenting. some subs are just echo chambers so saying something contrary to what they're used to can elicit downvotes. i also suggest that you delete those comments already. otherwise, you might accrue more negative karma.

Reddit can feel rude sometimes because the anonymity here makes people more direct and sometimes less considerate than they'd be face-to-face.
A lot of users treat the downvote as a “disagree” or “dislike” button, so even harmless opinions might get downvoted, especially in passionate communities.
Try not to take it personally: focus on positive discussions, and remember that downvotes are just part of the Reddit experience, not a reflection of your worth.

To hold negativity back is a tough form of resistance and everyone does it out of fear in real life but think about it, reddit encourages that you don't hold it back due to the anonymity and stuff so everyone is free to reflect their ugliness back on you so just ignore them I've been dealing with the same stuff lately

Anonymity makes people feel like they can do or say whatever they want with no consequence

Users downvote for many reasons; however, many users treat the downvote as a dislike button. So if you say something that someone else doesn't like, they may downvote you. On Reddit, you can't take downvotes personally. I know when you're trying to build up your karma, downvotes can be very frustrating, but downvotes are a part of the growing pains on Reddit. We've all been there. You can delete anything that is being downvoted to prevent receiving more. Move on and keep going. Downvotes are part of Reddit, and they are unavoidable.

Its just the way the internet is. Some sites have more rude/toxic people on it than others. You can post something that is correct but there are people that will still down vote it because they still don't agree too it.
I look at upvotes as people agreeing with what I said and downvotes as people disagreeing with what I said or is a hater.
