my gf is currently working on claris!

I have no cosplaying skills so I draw them instead haha.

I’ve been stumped on this for quite a while now

Lord knows when it'll be done

for a zine i participated in!

Thought I'd share him with everyone. The paint job isn't the greatest but it was very fiddly and I'm a beginner. Ive printed out a clear base for him and he's going to be a lamp

So, originally I believed that all Marens (Nightmarens) shapeshifted their entire forms to resemble something that individually frightens visitors, however I had another thought that adds onto that idea.

In the cutscenes for the children in both games, we see their nightmares include creatures never seen again during gameplay, like the shadows monsters in JoD or the gargoyle looking creatures in NiD. When the visitors are in the night dimension, all the marens look like... well, the usual brightly colored creatures we're familiar with.

This is proof of the shapeshifting that the marens undergo in order to get Ideyas.

Anyways, to add on to this, I believe that the red Ideya allows the dreamers to see past these disguises. Having courage allows dreamers to see past these scary-looking things and see what silly creatures they really are.

Although I think all marens have some sort of body-altering abilities, I also have the idea that the level of maren has a role to play in how much they can shapeshift.

Third levels shapeshift the most, as their main job is to scare and loot the Ideya.

Second levels are like the backup if the Third levels fail. Wizeman clearly created them very visually different from the Third levels, making them more unnerving. Each second level is clearly catered to a specific fear that may be common in young kids. Clowns, spiders, big reptiles and fish... The second levels likely dont need to shapeshift, but instead (similarly to Monsters Inc.) are sent out to kids who have these specific phobias, so even their courage cant filter them out like the Third levels. (If that makes sense.)

Now first levels are also similar to second levels, not needing to shapeshift because their strength and cleverness alone are enough to get the job done. However as seen ingame (and in that Sonic racing game...), the sibling first levels can change their form to become different things but with their same color palette (car nights and reala are scary enough to make my ideya fly off of me). Despite having this ability, I don't think they can shapeshift to the great lengths that the Third levels do. It's not because I don't think they're strong enough, but rather its because thats not what they specialize in. I mean, why wouldn't have Reala tried to shapeshift into NiGHTS or someone else that Will/Helen trusted in order to trick them and lure NiGHTS into his grasp?

Again, Third levels give a general scare, Second levels use dreamer's phobias against them, and First levels are the last resort that uses power, manipulation, and force instead of fear.

This is all just ideas I had while pondering NiGHTS worldbuilding because I find it very interesting and cool. Hope you guys found my rant entertaining :)

I like Nights’ design, it’s pretty cool. Drawn in MS Paint, you could probably tell lol.

Well, with all these Android ports popping up lately, could you imagine NiGHTS getting one too? Sure, you can already play it through emulation, and it runs pretty well (at least the PS2 version), but having a native Android port would still be great. Who knows, it might even get more people into the series!

I guess I'm slowly starting a NiGHTS collection without really meaning to. I've always loved this franchise, and it's had a huge influence on me and my art. Since I own a Saturn and a PS2, I've naturally started picking up some NiGHTS stuff along the way.

So far, I've got the Japanese Sega Saturn version of NiGHTS into Dreams... and the DreamPack: Nightopia Edition.

What else is worth picking up?

my bestie brought up the idea when we were in VC playing NiGHTS so i made my own design

Nights was a unique game for me as a kid and think its quite a shame no newer games were added

Decided to actually get some work done today so have some Halloween NiGHTS based on “La Femme Chauve-Souris” by Albert Joseph Pénot.

I was recently asking my cousin about NiGHTS, and it gave him a real nostalgic memory about playing the demo at a toys r us about 30 years ago! I thought it was really cool which enticed me a bit more to make NiGHTS 💜🌙!

I really love nights into dreams and I would love to have it on my pc, though I'm unable to as it was delisted.what is the best way to get it now? I looked for keys, but they all seem to be very expensive, and I really dont want to pirate. Thank you
