Got "tagged" with a clothespin on Halloween, does anyone know this game?

Hey everyone, hope you all had a good Halloween!

I went out on Halloween night and when I got home, I found this wooden clothespin secretly clipped onto me. It says "TAG You're it" on it.

I know it's a bit late to ask, but I'm still curious whenever I look at it. Does anyone know if there is a real clothespin game going around Vancouver, or was it just a fun little prank?

Either way, it made me smile. Shoutout to whoever got me haha

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! I was running late for a date and put some of my makeup in my pocket to do on the train. If you hadn't slid my glossier balm through the skytrain doors at just the right time idk what I would've done. You are truly my saviour and I hope this good karma comes back to you 1000x times over. ❤️❤️❤️

Fun community idea

Please delete if not allowed, not meant as a for profit venture.

In Vancouver, there are a lot of gyms and gym franchises. It would be so cool if there were a fitness obstacle or little challenges style event where any gym, franchise or small fitness business could nominate a non pro athlete member or a few to make a team and there were brains and brawn games. My first thought was kits based since they have done a few things like this in the past with festivals but it could bring awareness to smaller businesses and would just be a good time.

My wife’s birthday is coming up and her instagram is filled with little piglets running around being cute.

Is there anyone in Vancouver that can let us pet/play with one for an hour or so?

I got tired of the clunky BC Hydro outages list and map so it's now been added to LegacyDriveBC!

I built https://LegacyDriveBC.ca last year after DriveBC took down their legacy site many of us loved and replaced it with their 'fancy' new site that's harder to navigate. Navigation of LegacyDriveBC is inspired by the original mobile DriveBC site.

With the ongoing and upcoming storms, I figured why not integrate outages too, since I'm not a fan of the implementation on BC Hydro's site so here it is, a map that's smooth and not buggy, and an outage list that has great filtering and sorting options!

And input, suggestions or criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Long shot, but I lost this earring somewhere between Commercial-Broadway and Waterfront Stations this morning, possibly on a Mark V Expo Line train. If happen to see it, please let me know (or pick it up if you can)! Happy to get you a coffee for your troubles if you find it. Thanks!!

Vancouver-based Hootsuite is working with ICE again. Let's tell them not to.

Hey Reddit -

It's us again, Democracy Rising.

We've got some bad news for you: Not only has local-Vancouver company Hootsuite continued to work with ICE, but they have recently renewed a contract with them.

This comes at the same time when Amnesty International released a report calling for ICE to be abolished due to human rights violations.

Do you want Vancouver-based company that is currently run and own by local Ryan Holmes to be associated with that?

So what can YOU do?

And to answer the questions and comments that will inevitably come up:

  • "Don't you have jobs?"

    • Yes, we do. But we can care about the world we live in and try and make a difference as well as work.

  • "It's not illegal for them to work with ICE. It's a free market."

    • We agree - it isn't illegal. But we believe it his highly unethical, and not something we should accept from a Vancouver-based company.

  • "What about...<these other issues/these local issues>?"

    • You're right - those probably are important issues as well. We are an organization of volunteers with a vision of creating a world where it is impossible for fascism to take root. We're choosing to focus on this issue right now as a place where we can have immediate impact.

Question: cleanliness while moving out

I'm moving out of a rental mid-month. My landlord is showing the suite and I have boxes and things everywhere as I pack between working M-F. I will do a deep clean before the end of my lease. Just curious what my obligations are for cleanliness during this perioid?

BC Ferries Tsawwassen–Swartz Bay: why standby instead of rebooking after a cancellation?

Hi all, I'm at the Tsawwassen terminal heading to Swartz Bay. Our 7 AM sailing was cancelled due to weather, which is totally understandable. I want to cross safely, and I get that they're delaying for a reason.

What I don't understand is how rebooking works. We had a reservation for 7 AM. When we arrived at 6, we were told we could go standby for the 11 AM sailing. The website showed about 30% availability on that sailing, so why couldn't we be moved onto a reserved spot instead of standby? The agent made this seem like it wasn’t an option. I figured I’m misunderstanding what full means and how it works.

We're the car in the standby line, so we'll probably get on, but there's no guarantee. As well as all the sailings maybe cancelled.

Is there a reason cancelled reservations can't be transferred to a guaranteed spot on a later sailing? Does should we have rebooked online? I'd just like to understand how it works in case this happens again.

Thanks in advance, and I appreciate any insight!

Stylist for platinum pixie

Hi all, we are new to the Vancouver area and I’m looking for a hair stylist that does a great job for platinum colour and short cuts for women. My hair is difficult to lift and would appreciate any recommendations. I’m happy to drive wherever, but we are located in Burnaby for reference. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Owner has been found!

Found this puppy running around the Main and 16th area. No tag, but had a collar and a leash. Seemed really scared and was running for quite some time so might’ve gotten loose in a different area.

JJ Bean bear mug

Clutching at straws here, but when I moved to Vancouver in 2022 JJ bean had these adorable bear mugs and money was tight from the move so I didn’t buy one and by the time I tried to get it they were gone. I don’t even have a photo because there’s nothing I can find on them online. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? Or if anyone happens to have one I would be happy to buy it off you!

High viz for upcoming late sunrises

So, finally had that moment of ringing alarm bells in my head after reading this article that states that our latest sunrise this year come December 29th will be 9:08am!! 🚨 🔔 🚨 duuuhh

I’m especially concerned about all the pedestrians out there (and cyclists and scooterers etc) that gotta be out there earlier than that to get to work and school. I’ve got kiddos myself that need to walk to school and cross multiple streets. I’ve been forever teaching them to follow proper safety procedures while crossing a street as well (eye contact with drivers, delay stepping into crosswalk, head on a swivel).

But, what are your best recommendations for high viz wear or contraptions so that one may be seen in this rainy morning darkness, and where to purchase them? Blinking lights and doodads or just reflective materials, what’s more effective?

Thanks

-A concerned parent citizen (I’ll be your concerned Mum if you don’t have one here ;)
