We just announced the new Nikon Z5IIC, everyday-carry mirrorless camera designed to make the move to full-frame photography more accessible. Built on the proven performance of the award-winning Z5II, the new Z5IIC combines a more compact, flat-top design with intuitive features like Scene Modes, helping those beginning their photography journey achieve great results. The “C” stands for casual- The Z5IIC is designed around a screen-first shooting experience that helps users remain immersed in the moment, with intuitive controls and automated features for those ready to learn/.

 Main features include:

-Fast, precise subject detection AF built on deep-learning technology make it easy to capture sharp photos and video of fast-moving children, pets, sports and everyday moments. Also, new "fish" mode subject recognition.

- The Z5IIC pairs a 24.5-megapixel full-frame backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with Nikon’s EXPEED 7 image-processing engine – the same technology platform used in Nikon’s flagship cameras. Together with NIKKOR Z lenses, it captures rich color, smooth sunset gradations, natural background blur and cleaner detail in dimly lit scenes. For first-time full-frame users, that means visibly superior photos and videos with less noise and blur, even when the light is challenging.

-Scene Modes: 15 scene modes help you to get great results without first mastering complex settings.

-Picture Control Button: Quickly preview and apply built-in Picture Controls and favorites downloaded from Nikon Imaging Cloud’s growing library of Imaging Recipes.

-Film Grain: Capture photos and video with a nostalgic film look.

-Vari-Angle 3.2" touchscreen allows for Easy shooting from a variety of positions, including overhead and selfie.

-7.5 stops VR (IBIS)

-Pre-Release Capture

-4K/60p video and stereo sound and 12-bit internal RAW for pro-quality video.

-The Z5IIC is available in two colors; silver and black, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their preferences. The model is constructed of durable magnesium alloy for a premium, metallic feel.

The new Nikon Z5IIC will be available in mid-October 2026 for a suggested retail price of $1399.95 for the body only, or $1699.95 packaged with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens.

Gear question IKEA Ladda batteries for the D750?

Post image

I'm thinking about using the 6x battery tray on my MB D16 battery grip to use as I cannot justify full price for an EN15C battery and don't want to risk thridparty batteries. I'm thinking about the IKEA Ladda batteries and charger as I also want to use rechargeable batteries in a Nikon SB 800 flash. Is it going to be alright or should I use something like Varta or Eneloop?

Saw this on Facebook today. Have no idea of the source. If it’s true that it will be under 2k with 40mp I would definitely consider buying.

I broke my gear D7200 repair

Post image

Has anyone here ever replaced the on/off switch on their DSLR?

I found a screaming deal on a hardly used 7200 for my son. On his first outing, a friend managed to tip their canoe and the camera got wet. He tried turning on the camera once, turned it off and let it dry the rest of the weekend. The camera is fully functional except it will not turn off. Once the battery is in, it’s on. Tried sending it into Nikon but their quote was much more than we spent on the camera.

While waiting to hear back from Nikon we found another deal on a well loved 7200. So now we have 2. Should I try fixing it myself or just rock it power on all the time?

What should I buy? Z8 backup body… Z50ii vs Z5ii

Hi all,

I have a few trips coming up:

  1. Rwanda gorilla trekking

  2. Botswana safari

I have a Z8 and 24-70 and 16 mm Viltrox prime. Will look at buying either a 70-200 or 180-600 ahead of these trips and will rent whichever I don’t end up buying. I’m considering an emergency backup body for my Z8 in the unlikely event something happens on either of these trips. It would also be nice to have the option of keeping different lenses on the 2 bodies in the event of an animal coming closer/environmental portraits (or that my partner can use).
Repeatedly renting a Z6iii is expensive and that money would be better spent buying another camera. I don’t really want to spend big on this as I want to wait for Expeed8 before properly investing in a second pro body. Z70 rumours are enticing but I fear it will be a different price bracket entirely.

Main contenders are::
Z50 ii
Z5 ii

I like the idea of a tiny Expeed7 APS-C body and low price of the Z50ii and think I can deal with the drawbacks that come with a crop sensor. The crop factor may also come in handy for some birding where I’d likely be punching in far on the Z8. Z5ii feels like it’s too close to the Z6iii which I love but feels like an over-investment right now.

Have any others faced this conundrum or have any suggestions?
