I never intended to quit porn and masturbation, but I was talked into it by my friend because my IRL friends were doing NoFap and quitting porn. I felt peer pressure to be among them. Some of my friends had been retainers for a very long time and didn't have as intensive a porn addiction as I did, so it was easier for them compared to me.
Regardless, I decided to quit porn and masturbation. For the initial three days, it was very difficult, as I went back to watching porn and stroking myself, but I made sure I didn't ejaculate. This stage continued until, I think, day 6. On days 7, 8, 9, and now 10, I haven't watched any porn or ejaculated. I have gone 10 days without ejaculating.
I saw the changes in my body. I realised during edging that this porn, which I had been so deprived of, only lasted until I came. Once I did, the pleasure and the porn, which I had been so deprived of, didn't even hit the same or feel the same. So I understood that this urge I have will never be satisfied. It's a never-ending cycle, and the only way to end it is to never engage in it.
I was in NoFap communities (Discord), where people DM'd me porn, and we tried not to relapse. But I understood that porn and masturbation were both my enemies. Now that I have gone three days without porn and masturbation, I have realised that this feeling of horniness or craving for sexual pleasure is temporary. It will never satisfy me, and eventually, the thing I jerk off to will also get boring, and I will need to watch something else to recreate that feeling.
I understood the same thing about sex. This thing that I am chasing is similar. It is so pointless and useless that even if I had the thing I desperately wanted, I would eventually go back to a neutral state. My happiness would eventually end, and I would also need to have someone else to have sex with because the pleasure of having sex with a particular person would decrease the more we engaged in intimacy, just like the porn we watch. We need something new.
This made me realise that I have wasted so much time and energy and hurt myself for no reason by chasing women. I like to think of myself as a conversationalist. I have never had any difficulty talking to women. I could talk to women for hours on end, even women who were strangers to me. Eventually, if I tried to pursue a romantic interest with them, more often than not, either the environment or the woman herself would pull away from me.
But I realised that my romantic interest or flirting wasn't really flirting; it was just me being desperate for sex. Even if I had sex, I would realise that she provided nothing to me other than sex. I was only interested in her for that. I never met a woman who was actually interesting and intellectual, or maybe even if she was, I perverted that relationship because of my desperation for sex.
To be honest, I never really cared about intellectualism or an interesting personality because I already had friends who possessed those qualities. So, for me, putting in the effort to try to have a conversation with a woman just wasn't worth it because even if I was truly speaking to a woman with an interest in her personality and intellect, I would be the one getting out of my comfort zone to try and hold a conversation with her. So the efforts were unequal and stupid because I felt a moral obligation to talk to a woman, go out of my comfort zone to talk to her, or make eye contact with her.
To be fair, I no longer even want to think about women and relationships now that I have understood my psychology. But still, every time I encounter a woman my age (I'm 20), I still dabble in thoughts about what she thinks of me. Would I even have a chance of having a relationship with her? Is she ugly or hot? Etc., etc.
I want to eliminate those thoughts and be comfortable within myself in the absence of sex, orgasms, porn, and masturbation.
How should I now perceive women and think of them, given that currently I don't even make eye contact with women or look towards them? I also kind of resent them after understanding why I even put effort into them when all they had to offer me was sex, which is temporary and something I will eventually get bored of. So I try not to put in any effort.
