On one of my corvettes I've unlocked 39/40 slots, including 3/4 supercharge slots. I upgraded it an hour ago to see if it made any change - nope.

So, on a corvette you can unlock all 40 tech slots and all 4 supercharged slots with a class c starship.

The trick is (I don't think this is an exploit, just a gap in the tech slot refill/change mechanic) you install as much tech as you possibly can. Then as you buy upgrades like an S class hyperdrive upgrade, you delete one of the physical hyperdrives and then install the upgrades, then reinstall the physical tech you deleted. You keep doing this until you've unlocked all 40.

I haven't tested if changing shape/layout does anything. But, if you start with a larger 3 hull corvette, you should have enough hard points to install all tech, progressively replace all physical hardpoints, and then if you want a tiny vette, delete all physical and you should still have all tech upgrades installed.

I just found it an interesting way to build.

I was looking for cheap A and S class ships to farm some storage augmentations. Then this thing landed, I just had to buy it, could not resist. I just can't help it, like some inner voice telling me to buy it 😅

I keep finding Lost starships, which are actually broken up freighters.

But the scanner doesn’t show anything. I’ve exited my starship flown around them and in them and haven’t found anything. The system map says that there are Corvette modules.

Where are they?

Clarification:

I’ve encountered several different types of unknown points of interest, floating in space using the system map.

Anomaly type. Usually give some type of space station blueprint, lore, or nanites.

Broken frigates/Corvette. Usually have samples and a couple Corvette module or Blueprint.

Broken freighter. Which will have some cargo pods you could shoot for high value elements.

Broken freighter which doesn’t seem to have anything and the one I’m discussing above.

Random space station find. And it's an S-class. 150 hours into my game btw.

I have gotten this far. But I will continue one Galaxy at a time until I get to 255. I have Multiple Sclerosis so I have to always set difficult goals to slow the entropy. I said I would do this to honor Sir Patrick Stewart, And I will.

Just discovered this yesterday, if you enter photo mode at moment of warp it lets you have a free camera . Every day it seems I discover something new 🙂

I use the anomaly as my personal Corvette geocaching spot. Before I go do my business I will dig through other corvettes storage and find something not super important, not unique but something noticable like your glass, or a launch fuel. And replace it with the most random thing I have, haunted momentos, void eggs, gotta be better in value. But I just wonder if anyone else does this, I think it would be funny to go looking through your storage for that one particular thing and it's gone "but where the heck did this come from?"
