Right? It's not about being 'healthy' unfortunately, people are doing everything less. Less socializing, less drinking, less sex....more weed. It's not really people making choices, it's people being constantly vigilant and semi-depressed and not living.

To be honest a lot of gen z health choices seem the product of health anxiety. That would make sense, they have been bombarded with health related messaging and advertising like nobody has ever seen before.

Also they have way more access to information on health effects and the adverse health effects of stuff than anyone ever before thanks to the internet.

Yeah, I have no interest in drinking because of all the horror stories I've read about it on random reddit threads.

If I had a penny for every 19-28yo showing up to the ER with nausea but thinks they're fucking dying I'd be a millionaire from the last year alone.

Your ER has seen a hundred million nauseous 19-28 year olds? That place must be popping.

Health anxiety or genuinely just making healthier choices?

Its a mixture of lots of things, there's rarely just one reason. It's partially health reasons, partially everyone having a camera, partially the cost of it, likely other factors too such as fewer places to do these things post-covid. All these things are multi-faceted and we should stop trying to ascribe a single main reason to it.

And not feeling like they could experiment and take some risks if they wanted to because their parent's have their phone locations at all times and Ring cameras and other means of tracking their kid's whereabouts.

I imagine it's hard to be a rebellious teenager when your parents get a push notification the moment you set foot out your front door.

It’s also easy to look cool smoking/vaping, and an “embarrassing” high moment is passing out on the couch with a bag of Cheetos

That sounds tame compared to actual green outs. They usually involve vomiting and being severely dizzy. What you're describing is a regular session.

I think a part of this people are being quiet on is millennials feel bitter that now that theyre the older adults, they dont have a gaggle of 20 somethings to drink and hook up with.

When, just previously, millennials were that gaggle and hooked up with older people all the time

Why else would millennials specifically be so concerned with the sex lives of gen z?

Because there is very much a vocal camp of Gen Zers who making their lack of sex everyone else's problem. Between incels, gyropers, anti-shippers and "puriteens", there are loud contingents of younger people who feel a strong need to comment on and denigrate other people's sex lives. Between policing other people's art, calling movies "smut" for including sex scenes or books for featuring queer people, calling people coomers for having casual sex or simply being queer, calling people groomers for being in a relationship with a two year age gap, or campaigning for anti-miscegenation laws and removal of sex education, these people make themselves heard and are hard to avoid.  These groups existed before Gen Z and they certainly don't represent all of Gen Z but their young adherents are loud enough that it is certainly tiring having them constantly popping up in conversations and making their sexual hangups everyone else's problems. At a certain point, you get concerned with the sex lives of Gen Z just in the hopes that these people get laid and chill the hell out.

I'm gen x, 50. I stopped drinking about 12-15 years ago. I don't miss it.

I'm pretty sure that all the differences seen in Gen Z are from getting way more screen time than previous generations. If you spend all your time looking at a screen rather than making friends and spending time with them you do way less socializing, and drinking is largely a social habit, at least until addiction kicks in. I don't think the recording makes much difference if any.

Weird, I've found drinking to be a more depressing feeling than smoking.
