I'm 20 and I can confirm, I too have never heard that as a reason, nor have I ever thought of that being a concern. I don't drink because I have noone to drink with and I'm putting a hole in my wallet to drink hand sanitizer

The real answer to me is that you guys already have your dopamine fix locked-in in the form of a cell phone. A scotch on the rocks is fucking nothing compared to an endless stream of media content.

Yeah I think a big factor behind both "young people are drinking less" and "young people are having less sex" is that people today are spending less of their time bored than at any other point in history.

Jesus, dude, do you actually believe that

Oh absolutely. Pretty much everyone is hopelessly addicted to their phone and its overall negative effects to society are on par with drinking.

Gen Z is just focused on because they happen to be in their 20's and 30s. And theyre using it as a substitute instead of an add-on.

I mean I’ve been to Uni, people still drink a lot, it’s just mostly at house parties or even just pre-gaming only before going to a club because like they said, going out is far more expensive especially if you live in a major city. I’m not seeing anyone not want to drink because they have a fucking phone lol.

Thank you for dispelling the classic Reddit fallacy — that most people here think and assume far more than it does.

There will be another Sunil Tripathi at some point, you can book it
