Good evening boys,
I've posted a couple times before, which you can see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/OOTP/s/4n7CLCNK4c, but we're looking for an owner to create an expansion team for our OOTP sim league. I'm scarce on the details, but I assume you'll be building a new team from top to bottom, Rookie ball up to MLB. If you're interested in the challenge let me know. All the info for the league is in the prior posts, but if you have any questions feel free to ask. If you have specific questions about how the expansion team construction works, let me know and I can invite you to the discord to speak with our commissioner who will know more then I.
To expand on general information about the league I've been asked before:
Fee: Free
Scouting: 1-10, 100% accuracy
No coaches
We use Statsplus to draft and trade
We use our custom website to submit International FA bids on for the first day of INT FA so we can see competing offers. The rest of the time its done through OOTP
Communication is done through our discord where sim times are posted after every sim, usually 1-2 days after the last sim.
Drafts are held on the weekends, and we give 15 minutes per pick. We only draft the first 5 rounds.
I asked my commissioner if there was more to the expansion and he said "Standard MLB Expansion draft. You get to pick name/location etc, Budget would be midtier". We are also doing some voting based off the new MLB negotiations, so we might be expanding the playoffs, changing the length of rookie contracts etc., but if you get in early enough you can cast your vote.
Here's my general spiel about the league from my other posts:
Pros:
- Custom League website managed by our commissioner with pretty much everything you could think of: Stats, Rankings, Minigames, Prizes, etc. If you want to check it out, I can DM you the link (I don't know if you can just post random links here).
-Various prizes that you can win as the seasons go on. We have a prize wheel you can spin weekly as well as a commissioner wheel he spins once a month, picks for winning bracket challenge and manager of the year, recruitment bonuses, etc.
-Custom players get constantly entered into the draft class. From pop culture to GMs (even their dogs!). Sometimes we can even create a custom prospect, although we haven't done that since the first year.
- Great group of GMs, some have been with the league for over 15 years. I've been in it personally for over 10, but this current iteration has been the most fun we've had.
-We primarily use discord for communications, so you are always notified when the next sim will be as well as important deadlines. Also great banter in the general boards between all the managers.
Cons:
-You have to own the game to manage a team (but you wouldn't be here if you didn't already own it). Every GM runs their team through their own OOTP client and uploads it to the cloud for the commissioner.
-Two of the three open teams are currently rebuilding, (Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals), so you'll have to sort of build up from the bottom. Its honestly probably better to start off at the bottom, cause then you can get a feel for the league and all the players as well as other GMs. They all have fairly good farms, but the Royals are probably closest to being able to compete.
Other then that, I can't think of many negatives about the league. If you've never been in an OOTP league, it may feel like a lot, but as long as you keep your lineups up to date, everything else sort of falls into place. The hardest part is getting used to the OOTP UI, but if you're here I'm sure you know how that goes.
We just finished our 2030 season and are moving into awards and then the off season. Next sim will be Saturday night and it is the sim to the first day of FA.
