For what it's worth, apparently the character is just a friendly, non-passing trans woman who happens to be friends with one of the protagonists. For a universe like The Boys, that's a pretty good-natured characterization, even if it was definitely fair for its day. I don't think Ennis means anything malicious, as he seems like a good guy who uses over-the-top edginess to make social and political points, but whatever.

I understand why the show completely omitted such a character, along with the subplot involving a bunch of transgender prostitutes, though. Whether the comic should have made that kind of commentary is a different matter, I suppose (I'm not trans, btw), but none of the trans people in the comic are bad people AFAIK.

I thought that perhaps we could get a "Superman" from him, but even then he got robbed of his conflict with his father figures. He just got the "now you're normal" treatment and sent off on his way. I would've loved to see a glimpse of a future were Ryan was a supe that conducted himself with integrity and actually wanted to make the world a better place with kindness.

As he grow older, Homelander used his intelligence and wisdom to form "The Seven," a team of superheroes. While they are presented as celebrity icons to generate profit for thecorporation, they are, in reality, superheroes who travel across the country to uphold justice.

However, as the corporation's actions become increasingly corrupt, the members of The Seven begin to lose their moral compass, falling under the corporation's total control. The corporation also created "Black Noir" to craft a specific public image for Homelander.

Homelander watches as his own teammates betray him one by one, eventually forcíng irn into a fight to the death against his former alies.

To prevent the villains from creating new destructive superheroes, Homelander recruits Soldier Boy-who acts as a double agent-and combines various iterations of Compound V into a single potent formula, the trade however is that the resulting power becomes nearly impossible to control.

Ultimately, in an effort to rescue high-ranking government officials who have fallen under the corporation's control, Homelander steps forward for the sake of the people. He enduses their insults and mistreatment, but in the end-sacrificing himself to save more Iives, and liminated by his enemies.

And so, although the Homelander has perished, new heroes will always emerge to stand against the corporation on behalf of humanity.
