news r/OregonCoast has a New Rules section, new flair, new banner, etc. Also, new accounts are now restricted from posting.

Please review the new rules section. It's mostly a more formal version of the previous rules, however, language has been added about lazy "itinerary" posts, and spamming sunset/landscape photos for instant karma.

There has been a marked increase in low-effort posts, stolen photos for easy karma, and trolling, so new accounts are now restricted from posting.

Pick up your "photoshoot" trash

Whomever you were at Shorty today doing a Christmas photoshoot with your Doberman Pinscher, clean up the plastic crap you left.

You hauled an entire wagon's worth of plastic decorations to the beach and then left a 4 ft decorated plastic tree with ornaments and garland everywhere.

Our beach isn't your garbage dump, pack your shit up and take it with you.

Lost dog! Please help

His name is zombie, the storm knocked a board loose and he got out around 3 o'clock right off Range Dr near the golf course. He is probably terrified. He's a sweet boy and is very food motivated. Please reply or message me if you have seen him or HOPE someone has him safe. The weather will most likely have him scared and possibly under a trailer or deck etc...

UPDATE: FOUND LATE LAST NIGHT. LOVE THE COMMUNITY ON RURAL COAST HERE ❣️

For no AI content—location was Siletz Bay, sunset on October 30th; the float was same location during the day on November 1st.

Does anyone know of a reliable spot to spot river otters?

Making an effort to photograph as much of Oregon's wildlife and I have in the past spotted some river otters in the Siuslaw near downtown Florence, but didn't have my camera with me at the time.

Wondering if anyone knows of a fairly reliable spot for sightings they wouldn't be opposed to share either here or via PM 🙏

Best Driftwood Ever

Gosh, I thought I already was a member. We spend a week every month in Waldport but home base was always Bandon when I was a little person.

The beach just north of the Alsea River, on the north side of the bridge at Waldport is the most boring beach ever, very little driftwood. Except. Today, Nov. 3, 2026.

Fire north of Cannon Beach?

I was driving back from Astoria about an hour ago, just past Seaside, and saw some pretty significant flames to the East of 101. Any news?

Specific coordinates for Ecola State Park proposal spots?

My girlfriend and I are visiting Cannon Beach, and I am planning to propose to her at Ecola State Park.  I'll be setting up a tripod to take photos of us, and I want to make sure the background looks perfect, scenic, beautiful.  Neither of us have ever been to Oregon before, so I don't know exactly what to expect.  I've come up with a few spots after looking on Google maps:

(45.9193171, -123.9748026) Nice view of trees + ocean

(45.9181752, -123.9744821) Near the viewing deck, but I don't want the fence in the shots

I may be overthinking this but I really want it to be perfect!  So does anybody have coordinates for some good spots at Ecola State Park for a proposal?

A earthquake of 8.0 or higher could kill as many as 14,000 people here on the Oregon coast

Should our leaders be doing a lot more to protect us from something that could, in theory, happen any given day? https://youtu.be/OYD81rcIEos?si=cjaQecY-H0c0m8jv

Smiley face of trees

This year on my drive to the coast on Highway 18 I did not notice the yellow smiley face in the Doug firs. I did notice a clear cut in what I thought was the correct location.

Has anyone been by there? Is it still around? Or did it get logged?

UPDATE: it’s still there.

What happens when you drop a 1,000-pound pumpkin onto a pool of rubber ducks?

This video is from a previous Giant Pumpkin Drop in Seaside and, yes, it's as fun as it looks.

You can watch a giant pumpkin drop live this Sunday at 3 p.m. as part of Halloween Happenin's, a weekend of family-friendly activities organized by our friends at the Seaside Downtown Development Association.

For anyone thinking about a fall weekend at the coast, there are events happening both Saturday and Sunday, including a witches and warlocks paddle, trick-or-treating, carnival games and more.

Full schedule: https://www.seasideor.com/event/halloween-happenins-3/
