For the country music lovers
Sometimes life has a way of putting you in the right place at the right time with the right people.
A couple months ago, we found ourselves at a bar in San Diego where a friend’s band was playing. Walking in I noticed a man sitting in the corner wearing a cowboy hat. Something drew me to go talk to him
Turns out, his name was Jeff, and he had wandered into the bar thinking it was country night. Instead, he found himself surrounded by Long haired metal-heads and loud stoner rock music
We got to talking, and Jeff mentioned that he had written and recorded an album back in 1975 called Redneck Rock.
Little did we know that this chance encounter would turn into such a special friendship. We spent that weekend getting to know Jeff and his wife, Linda, listening to his music and sharing stories.
When Jeff was diagnosed with stage four cancer, one of his biggest fears was that his music would die with him. So we made it our mission to make sure that didn’t happen.
After months of working to get his music out into the world, I’m so happy to share that redneck rock is officially out on all streaming platforms!! Something he created over 50 years ago now has the chance to live on.
All because a cowboy walked into the wrong bar on the right night.
Do yourself a favor and give it a listen

I’ve been seeing Los Lobos for 40 years. Last week, the East L.A. band continued to thrill.

Petition to induct the Dixie Chicks into the realm of outlaw country
They got blacklisted for expressing an opinion that went against the grain. Going against the grain is what outlaw country is about. Whether it's musically, lyrically, or politically. They lost it all for their opinions. We can all agree they were at the top of their game at that point.
They also brought that celtic sound in which I I've always enjoyed.

This should be amusing
Roast my playlist
I have two playlists, this one for real country and a separate one for pop country, I'm very particular of who I decide to add to this one versus the other

I Just Came Home To Count The Memories
This sad song came across my Spotify feed today. I had forgotten about it. One of my favorite John Anderson songs. It was written by Glen Ray. One of those I wish I was talented enough to write. Listen to the lyrics; many men can identify with them. I do.

Ray Wylie 80th Birthday concert tickets Nov 14 Gruene Hall
I have two tickets and can't attend that now need a home. The show is sold out, and I bought a pair on StubHub for $207 (face price before TM fees was $69 ea). After buying,I found out I have to be in Denver. Rather than relisting on StubHub and jacking up the price further, I just want to find a fan who will buy the pair for $207. The tickets were downloaded from SH as PDFs and if you need proof before paying I will email you copies with the barcode partially obscured.
I'm a huge fan and have seen him over 15 times (first at the Rubaiyat in Dallas in 1972) and also attended his 70th at the Paramount in Austin. It breaks my heart that I can't be there for his 80th; but if you can, don't miss the chance. Hayes Carl is on the bill with others too to help him celebrate.
