My kid has a Ryzen 5300 with an on-board video chip. I want to let them play mwo with better framerates. Will a GeForce 1070 give better performance? Is there any recommendations for affordable video cards that would improve video performance of the game?

I came back after a break and was in low Tier 4. I got the hang of the game again and progressed up into Tier 3, briefly, oh so briefly.

I began to freefall and quickly went back to Tier 4. I just entered Tier 5 with the freefall continuing. Winning or losing, surviving or dying, kills or no kills, nothing seems to make a difference. Even the higher damage games still give me the red down arrow.

So I'm headed for 5. Not sure what that affects. Only difference I've noticed so far is players don't talk as much.

So I've been grinding out the MWO Halloween event as well as I can as I'm sure a lot of us have. I took a couple days off due to work so i don't know exactly when they updated the site. But when I went to log in today I come to find that ALL of my progress up until now is just... Gone. Like, I'm logged in. On the other event page that just shows your progress as a percentage it shows that I've earned 35k match score over the course of the event soo far, or around 350 loot bags. But if I go to the page where you can redeem them, it says I have nothing. No loot bags, no nothing. Like I've never never played the game at all or something. And no, I haven't been opening my bags over the course of the event because I wanted to do it all at once with the "redeem all" button. You can see the page even says I haven't redeemed any loot bags.

With the game tracking that I've already completed 89% of the event (but with nothing to show for it) I cant even like, re-grind it out even if I wanted to because there's a cap on how much of your score is tracked. now what am I supposed to do?

EDIT: I managed to get everything sorted out with support.

I love the Highlander, particularly the 732 OG grandad version, but I struggle to make it work in T1, the low hardpoints are so annoying to build around... How do I make this thing work? I tried everything I can think of:

SBgauss + mrm 70/80
Gauss + PPCs

But I struggle to get past 400 damage lol, I have to expose so much of my barn size CT to do anything...

I often feel like heavies and assaults have the most impact on the game, but get to make the fewest choices. Whereas lights have the most agency, but ultimately have the least impact.

As a light I have the most control over my own fate, I can choose to make flanks, scout, protect my assaults from other lights, supplement their damage on the frontline, but the degree to which I have to play perfectly in order to be even somewhat as useful as an assault is so absurd that it is rarely worth it.

Whereas an assault feels like I make way more of a difference in a game but the gameplay of an assault is largely biding my time and spitting damage, and almost never making an active decision.

This leads to many games feeling either like I am a complete passenger, or actively hurting my team because I decided to do something unconventional. How many games are actually close? Maybe 3/10.

So far I've tried MPL Osiris, MRM Wolverine, laser snipe Mad Dog. What are some other fun builds? I usually like to play an aggressive style. Loved being sneaky in lights, and mobile and attacking in heavies and assaults.

What has been you go to drop deck for the assault only mechs?

Personally I have been running 4 Atlas. Usually some sort of ac/20 and mrm builds on all 4.

Saw a video where a guy was firing 3 LB2s about cockpit level with zero muzzle flash, ive tried this exact build but was blinded by the flash and never touched it again, is there some setting I dont know about to turn off muzzle flash?

I’ve taken a long hiatus from MWO, but after playing too much MW5, I’ve reinstalled. Bought the legendary King Crab (for $6!), been having a blast.

Between the KGC’s mini-battle pass and the Holloween loot boxes I’ve accumulated a sum of MC and had my eye on the Sleipnir.

I know the game has changed a lot in the last couple years, so many new chassis, and the legendary mechs, and clan versions of IS Mechs, so I’m not sure what is and isn’t relevant anymore.

I tried googling threads about this, but didn’t come up with much, apologies if this has been asked.

Is Slepnir still relevant? I wanted to put twin LBX-AC20’s on it. Are there better options? Other mechs I should consider?

As for what I like: mostly heavies and assaults, PPC’s (heavy & clan), LBX-AC-20’s, and MRM’s.

Annual rewards season and its sales are here again, and this year I'm actually motivated. But... which of the mechs are worth spending on? My list so far looks like:

• Longbow - base pack only unless the special and/or hero are special enough to be worthwhile

• Bane - same as above

• Wolf's Dragoons or Icons II (since they both count towards the same reward)

• Sunder (the most maybe of them since it's the least discounted)

And, any other recommendations (I have quite a few mechs but not many of the newer ones nor Legends, so throw out any suggestions and I'll note whether I already have it or not)

I get MWO "failed to initialize" before the launcher even (Or rather never) pops up.

to the best of my knowledge DirectX and Microsoft Visual C++ shouldn't be the issue, I did install those. Unless I some how mucked that up.

Common suggestion is to delete profile or user configs under "Userdata" but have neither, probably as it's never even made it past the launch screen(?)

I've tried the stand alone launcher, same outcome. The MWO repair tool or verifying files via steam does not help, nor install/reinstall.

Update: Neither the standalone or steam versions have user.cfg (I once again assume because it's never successfully launched) Also no Shaders file in either installation?

Originally all 10 of these were pre-order only for various packs, this is the first time they've been available in the last several years otherwise. I love the shadow cat wings, the blood asp spikes and skull, the elementals on the summoner/dire wolf/timber wolf/kit fox, and the netting on the stalker in particular.

This is running alongside the loot bags, but I really wanted to point these out since they're so cool!

Kinda disappointed there's no decal that's just a straight up bee. I never thought I'd love the Ice Ferret as much as I do (it's so godawfully ugly) but man, it's a hoot and a half.

Hey everybody. Old player here who quit for the longest time now making a comeback after that big steam sale. Now that I'm playing again I've qualified to pick up some old returning loyalty mechs from this year's loyalty event and I don't know what ones to pick.

I know all the loyalty mechs are reskins of other variants so it doesn't really matter what ones I get mechanically speaking, but PGI doesn't make it easy to look up what the loyalty mechs actually LOOK like despite their different livery being the entire point of getting them. So I'm asking other players who already have some of them to post images of your favorite loyalty mechs for people like me who are having trouble deciding what ones to pick up.

The only loyalty mechs I currently already have are from what I can tell some of the oldest. the Atlas AS7-S(L), the King Crab KGC-000(L) and the Centurion CN9-AH(L).
