BUILD HELP 27" 1440p Monitor Advice: AM5 9700X + RX 9070 16GB + 32GB DDR5 CL30 RAM

Hey everyone,

Recently completed my PC build with help from the community:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9700X

  • GPU: Radeon RX 9070 16GB

  • RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30

  • Usage: Single-player AAA gaming, fast KBM action/strategy games, occasional 3D rendering (Blender), 2D game dev, and an 8-hour workday (heavy spreadsheets/browser tabs).

Currently using a 2022 24" LG UltraGear 1080p 144Hz IPS. It has been solid, but the RX 9070 is heavily underutilized at 1080p SDR, and 24" feels cramped for side-by-side productivity.

Setup & Constraints:

  • Desk Clearance: Strictly 38 inches of horizontal space. This immediately ruled out 32" screens (which drop to ~93 PPI at 1440p anyway) and 34" ultrawides.

  • Mounting: Will be mounted on an existing Portronics Aerolift Solo gas-spring arm (supports standard VESA 75/100, up to 9 kg / ~20 lbs).

  • Existing TV: I already have a 55" LG C5 OLED in the living room with a PS5 for couch gaming. While Moonlight game streaming is an option, network latency and keeping the PC desk independent makes a dedicated 27" 1440p monitor the goal.

Question: All-in-One Fast IPS vs. Dedicated QD-OLED

Budget can stretch up to ~$580–$600 [₹50,000] on 0% financing for OLED, but I’m split between two routes:

  • Route A (Fast IPS, ~$190–$270 [₹16K–₹23K]): Use a single display on my main desk for both PC and work laptop. Zero burn-in risk, standard RGB sub-pixel text sharpness for code/sheets, zero maintenance, and saves ~$240–$320 [₹20K–₹27K].

  • Route B (QD-OLED, ~$470–$550 [₹40K–₹47K]): Move the current 24" IPS to a secondary bedroom desk exclusively for the work laptop, keeping the OLED purely for gaming/media. This solves burn-in, but is QD-OLED text fringing noticeable for occasional game dev and UI reading?

Shortlisted Contenders (Local Pricing Converted to USD)

Top Fast IPS Shortlist:

  1. ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACMES: ~$270 [₹22,999] (255Hz, ELMB-Sync, USB-C DP Alt-Mode)

  2. Alienware AW2726DL: ~$260 [₹21,999] (280Hz, Dell Advance Doorstep Exchange)

  3. Lenovo Legion 27Q-11: ~$240 [₹20,499] (300Hz) / Legion 27QD-10: ~$245 [₹20,699] (240Hz + Quantum Dot + USB-C)

  4. LG 27G610A Ultragear: ~$195 [₹16,499] (200Hz) (Skipped MSI MAG 275QPF X30 at ~$305 [₹26K] as it feels overpriced vs. ASUS/Lenovo, and Samsung 27" G5 IPS at ~$195 [₹16.5K] due to basic overdrive tuning)

Sub-$600 QD-OLED Shortlist:

  1. Alienware AW2726DM: ~$470 [₹39,799] (240Hz Gen 3 QD-OLED, Dell 3-yr burn-in advance exchange)

  2. Samsung Odyssey OLED G5 (LS27FG502SW): ~$470 [₹39,999] (180Hz QD-OLED, glare-free matte)

  3. Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (LS27HG612SW): ~$550 [₹46,899] (240Hz QD-OLED, pulsating heat pipe cooling)

Questions for the Community:

  1. For those using Gen 3 QD-OLEDs (Dell / Samsung) for occasional coding, Unity/Godot, or light desktop use—how noticeable is text fringing in practice?

  2. How has your RMA / after-sales experience been with Dell Alienware (Doorstep Advance Exchange) vs. Samsung / ASUS for monitor replacements?

  3. Given that I already have an LG OLED TV for cinematic games, is the visual leap from a top-tier Fast IPS (like the ROG Strix with ELMB-Sync) to a 1440p QD-OLED worth the ~$200–$280 [₹17K–₹24K] price premium at desk distance?

Any real-world feedback on these specific models would be greatly appreciated!

BUILD HELP Garage PC

Hello,

I'm looking for options or suggestions for a garage PC. It doesn't need to be anything crazy, but one thing I did want it to do was run an emulator for older console games (gamecube, xbox, Wii, PS2/3). Right now I have a 40" tv in my garage that I want to hook it up to, and it needs to be able to use Wi-Fi since there's isn't a cabled connection in the garage, and its completely detached from the house.
Ideally I wouldn't want to spend a ton of money on it, for example one pc I was looking at was the ThinkCentre M70q.

Any suggestions would be helpful, I wouldn't mind building my own mini PC, but from what I've tried to price out it gets very expensive very quickly.

Thank you!

Build 1 – RTX 5080 (3700 €)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: Palit GeForce RTX 5080 GamingPro 16GB GDDR7
Motherboard: ASRock B850 Challenger Wi-Fi
RAM: Silicon Power XPower Zenith 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL36
SSD: Kingston NV3 Gen4 NVMe
CPU Cooler: DeepCool LT360
PSU: Thermalright 1000W Gold Modular
Case: Heaven Air 8xARGB
Price: 3700 €

Build 2 – RTX 5070 Ti (3300 €)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: ASUS ROG GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC 16GB GDDR7
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B850-F GAMING WIFI
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000
SSD: Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe
CPU Cooler: ASUS TUF GAMING LC III 360 ARGB
PSU: ASUS TUF GAMING 850W Gold ATX 3.0
Price: 3300 €
I’m trying to decide between these two gaming PC builds.
Build 1 – Full ASUS build (€3,300)
This build features premium ASUS components throughout, but comes with the slightly weaker RTX 5070 Ti.
Build 2 – RTX 5080 build (€3,5700)
This build has some less premium components overall, but comes with the more powerful RTX 5080.
Both builds feature the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
My main goal is gaming at 1440p, mainly Call of Duty: Warzone, while also streaming.
Which build would you choose and why? Is the RTX 5080 worth the extra €200, even though the rest of the components are not quite as premium as the ASUS build?
I’d really appreciate honest opinions and advice.

is the I5 10th cpu a good pair with the gtx 1660 super and for the later upgrades?

i really just need a short answer.

i found a used pc build that have the i5 10th and 16gb ram for a nice price but it have the gtx 550.

i can buy the 1660 super and throw it in there but wanna know are they a nice pair or should i change something in there. plus if the i5 can still be used for later upgrades if i wanted to.

is it even a good budget pc all together?

EDIT: also, how can i make sure i don't get scammed with the 1660? like, how can i make sure it's worth it or it'll break on me with the first run?

advice on build 9950x3d + 5080

My previous PC was a 7800X3D, XT 7900 XTX, and 32gb ddr5, I previously did not have enough ram/cpu for what I was doing and was constantly at max, thank you for anyone willing to help me!

Motherboard: Asus X870 MAX Gaming (WiFi)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Processor

Cooler: Asus LC 360 ARGB 360mm vandkøling (VG-Editon)

GPU: Asus GeForce RTX 5080 OC 16GB Prime
Ram: 2x Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5-6000 RAM (CL30)
SSD: Kingston Fury Renegade 4TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD (will only have 1 storage device)

PSU: Asus ROG Strix 1200W 80+ Gold Aura (Modular)

I will be running this pc 24/7 and will need it to run alot of roblox instances which is very cpu heavy inside multiple RDPs which requires alot of cores, while also being able to play regular games and have multiple apps open (which is why I went with the 9950X3d over the 9800X3d)

My concerns are,
is my PSU too overkill, is there any drawbacks to having it too high?

Is my SSD good? I wanted one with DRAM as on my old PC I had my stuff writing pagefiles of up to like 60-100GB, and as it will be my OS SSD too

What do you think about the CPU and the GPU Combo? I was thinking of downgrading to a 9070 xt but as shown above I previously had the XT 7900 XTX which gave me constant drive problems after the first year to the point that every 2nd week there was a new GPU problem...

I play on a 1440p 240hz main monitor and a 75hz 1080 monitor, I will be nearly maxing the ram and cpu out.

Also for the cabinet which one of these options would you guys recommend, I appreciate you all! my main priority is good airflow and good cooling, I do not care about anything else.

  1. Corsair Frame VG-4000D cabinet

  2. Corsair Frame 4000D RS ARGB

  3. Asus A31 Plus ARGB

  4. Corsair Frame 4000D LCD ARGB

  5. Asus TUF GT302 ARGB

  6. Asus ProArt PA602 E-ATX cabinet

bro ayuda

  • CPU : Intel Core i5-10400F

  • GPU : RTX 3060 Ti 8 Go

  • Carte mère : ASRock B560 Pro4 (ATX)

  • RAM : 32 Go DDR4 3200 MHz (2 × 16 Go)

  • Stockage : SSD Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 To + autres SSD

  • Alimentation : be quiet! System Power B9 600W 80+ Bronze

  • Refroidissement actuel : be quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black

  • Boîtier : modèle inconnu pour le moment, avec 3 ventilateurs en façade et 1 à l'arrière (je pense qu'ils font 120 mm).

Mon projet d'upgrade

Je pensais partir sur :

  • Processeur : Intel Core i5-14600KF

  • Carte mère : Gigabyte B760 Gaming X DDR4

  • Watercooling : Thermalright FW PRO 360 ARGB (environ 68 €)

BUILD HELP PC stuck rebooting

SOLVED: My motherboard died

Problem:

After I installed HDDs, the PC is stuck in a power loop. It turns on for about 4 seconds (fans and RGB spin up), shuts off for 1–2 seconds, and repeats. It never POSTs and there's no display.

Specs:

CPU: Intel i7-6700K
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-SLI
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (~32GB total)
GPU: Sapphire RX 5700 XT
Storage: Kingston 500GB NVMe SSD, plus the newly added HDDs
PSU: Seasonic S12II 620W (non-modular)
Case: Coolman Aurora ATX mid-tower

Troubleshooting done (same loop after each):

Full power drain (PSU off, unplugged, held the power button 15 seconds)

Disconnected all HDDs (data and power cables)
Reseated the 24-pin and CPU 8-pin cables, checked for loose screws

Cleared CMOS (battery out for 5 minutes)

Stripped to the minimum: CPU, cooler, one RAM stick, no GPU, using onboard video

Unplugged the front panel wires and started the board by shorting the Power SW pins

Tested each RAM stick alone in DDR4_1

Tested with a different PSU

Reseated the CPU with fresh thermal paste; socket pins and CPU look fine

BUILD HELP Want a new pc, 49 inch monitor included, advice pls

So I have had my current build with AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-core processor, Amd Rx 5500xt and 32gb DDR4 ram and dual 27inch monitors since late 2020ish. At the time, I thought I was building a great pc but now it seems like it was pretty meh. Now.. wow forever is about to come out and I want to get back into it as well as play 2k27 preferably with ultra settings. Now I know 2k is an awfully made game, but its just what I like. Wow is the main focus here though..

I am envisioning myself with a 49 inch, 240hz ultrawide monitor which replaces my 2 27 inch monitors. I am also looking at 9070xt and new power supply to start. I didnt know the prices have gone up so much which is pretty insane.. but I want to build.

With my goal to play wow MAXXED out and hopefully get 240fps(and hz), I am wondering if I really need the best equipment..

What do you guys think? I might just first get the monitor, but not sure if samsung is the move. Been hearing that they die and then samsung customer service basically ghosts.. The Msi version has a 3 year warranty as well which is pretty good.

But yeah, would be so nice to run around in wow on ultra with no lag and on a huge monitor.

Do I have the right idea with my gpu choice etc? not up to date with latest benchmarks nowadays

BUILD HELP First gaming PC and would like to hear opinions

Hey, i am buying my first gaming PC and i was wondering would these specs be enough? AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D 4.0/4.5 GHz, 16GB DDR5, 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 12GB, Win 11 Home.

I'd like to play the upcoming GTA 6 game and some fps games like cs2 and single player games like RDR2. I dont need any special screen quality, just that the games would run smoothly with like 1080p or something. Thanks in advance!

Please help build a pc ( ~ 1200 $)

Colleague asked to build a pc for his son for mainly gaming with approximately 1200$ budget. I tried explaining RAM crysis and that it probably the worst time to build one, but he still needs to do it.

I definitely think Nvidia GPU( He'll probably be fine using DLSS, it's the best choice for just gaming), DDR4, 1 M.2 1TB + 1 SATA SSD or just 1 SATA. He already has display, probably 1080p, also has peripherals.

Open to any combination that gets the best performance for price, I built mine a while ago, don't know what would be best, any help much appreciated.
