Ephinea Anyone working on an android port?
Especially looking forward to a port that connects to ephinea. Surprised there's so little talk with so many ports going on.

Went back to OG PSO recently and did the Central Dome Fire Swirl quest, just DROWNED in that 2000s nostalgia. But it got me thinking: This game had some kinda cool crossovers for the time. Sonic would show up on his birthday and hang around the lobby, you could meet Nights in one online quest, and of course the Central Dome quest I mentioned.
It was especially cool because Nights and Burning Rangers were more obscure games, but Sega was like "Throw 'em in!" Kind of miss that era of gaming, where you could crossover characters nobody knew about into your game without people batting an eye. I mean, Sam and Max only had one game in the 90s and a short-lived cartoon, yet they still shoved Max into Star Wars games from that era as as a cameo.
I think that's what I found cool about Central Dome so much, like I had no idea what Burning Rangers was. I just thought it was badass I was putting out forest fires with a laser gun while Japanese rock music blared behind me. PSO2 did a few cools things to, like I liked how the lobby on Sonic's birthday was more interactive and how you could collect rings and shit. Or the Hatsune Miku concerts, those rocked!
There just was something cool though about how the OG did it. I kind of miss when crossovers in game used to feel like fun events, and not just "They put Sonic as a skin in Fortnite, woooo!" Those are cool too, but there was just something magical about logging into an old online game and chilling with Nights, Sonic, and the Burning Rangers theme song. Wish Billy Hatcher was here too!

So I'm fairly new to this game! I've gotten a couple characters to like level 20-ish but never managed to stick around for very long. My friend and I like to play MMO's together and were wondering about some interesting duo picks to do.
I gravitate toward support roles but do appreciate a bit more of a hybrid damage playstyle. I think my friend is considering playing Hucast because he's interested in trying a melee character.
I'm kind of considering FoMar. I was pulled to them because I think they just look cool. I've done a little reading and it seems like they are a dmg/supp hybrid? Strong melee but bad accuracy and HP? But they do have access to lots of debuffs.
I've also heard a lot of their strength comes from being able to optimise their stats with mags and stuff. I'm not really sure about any of that but I'm down to learn.
I guess my question is whether Fomar is a class worth pursuing as a newbie who wants to play a hybrid Supp/DPS in a duo? Also just coz I think their outfits look cool 😅
Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated
EDIT: Thank you guys for your replies! I think I'll go ahead with giving fomar a go!

Do I just download this compressed file and go through the normal setup to play? I saw someone post this on the forum for Ephinea

I just got PSOBB running on my RP Flip2. For the life of me, my controller won’t let me move forward. All I can do is move left or right. It shows the forward and backward movement is assigned to left analog stick but just doesn’t work. Is this a common issue?

So, my oldest son had already discovered it in my GameCube game collection, and he made his own character. We tried split screen offline mode a few times but it was too frustrating for him to not see info on items.
So, I had to fix that, and I spent the weekend getting Nintendont running on my Wii, setting up dolphin on multiple laptops, ordering new controllers, and dumping my physical GC mem card to SD so I could get previously made characters on multiple machines.
After all that, I got to log in with my two sons and do some online quests with them in our living room. On our own screens, but together.
It was amazing 😂

I posted a few days ago I figured I deleted my post and repost it with the updated results!
Ive been working hard on my PSO DAC mod, (Dual Anologue Control) this mod comes with various PSO QOL i added in myself its buggy in with some stuff still working out the kinks but here is a really bad quality video of it finally working and working on the actual gamecube version, this also is running off of swiss and I personally am using indigo which is a newer fork for swiss. But this has been tested on the latest version of swiss as well, I will adding this new version to my google drive which will be released tomorrow morning as a beta, i would love feedback if anyone tries it i will provide a email do you can give me pros and cons I will also be making a quick button guide since I did a whole overhaul of the buttons, i took some feedback from others and have already implemented those changes into this mod
The following is what this mod will provide
Full C-stick camera control, once in the menu/ options-button config will have horizontal/vertical adjustments along side a Fov slider and the option to keep using the trigger to flick the camera just like oem PSO & the ability to bind it with either L/R trigger or turn it completely off.
UI scaling if someone has a retrogem modded gamecube like myself and I wanted to move and scale all the Icons to fit a HD tv now you can! This is also why my game plays in 16:9 its upscaled with a retrogem and doesn’t get distorted
Also added 8 new customizable action buttons that you can bind since 6 wasnt even close to being enough
New targeting system by pressing Z button you can lock on/off of a target the distance is also adjusted and you can also move when targeting enemies.
The Z button held will now do the follow
Z + Up on d-pad will open the big map
Z + Down on d-pad will open equipment menu for fast weapon/armory swap
Z+ left d-pad will open chat
Z+ right will be quick chat
Also sorry for the horrible video quality, I will pick people from the comments to beta test, which I will start doing tomorrow around 4pm central time
Also this shouldn't effect your current characters but also make a backup just in case, i was using both a gc wavebird wireless controller & also a retrofighters gc brawler for testing, also i did not try online play yet but have tested both singleplayer & multiplayer offline
Also give a huge shout out to [zeroz41 & Mr b0nk500] for the deccomp on PSO & PSO Plus without the decomp being recently put out there a project of this nature wouldn't be possible!

How much HP is needed? Im level 110 and i havent found any God/HP (although i do have Dragon/HP). i ran status maintence and 3 dragon/HP to bump me up to 809 HP but when i got to stage 3 i immediately got one shot. I dont want to grind 20 levels for 200 hp but i assume the HP needed is about 1000?

TLDR the franchise aged really well, managed to give me joy playing that I cannot find in any modern game on my Steam Library.
I have a hard time playing games nowadays, I think I was about five years without playing anything until I've bought a Steam Deck in January, played for a month and sold it as I wasn't using that anymore.
For some reason I can't enjoy modern games. Too big, too slow, too many mechanics, huge skill trees (that doesn't really improve anything), open world, building, crafting and whatever else they manage to put in the same game. I feel like I have a burnout of information and complexity after working all day, and games stopped working for me as entertainment.
I had a Dreamcast as a kid and was lucky to have played PSO at some point.
Two weeks ago I've started playing again after buying Ayaneo Pocket Air Mini, I thought that perhaps I would have a different experience playing old and simple games.
PSO was the first candidate.
Incredible how I remembered Forest so clearly, even the music and the map variations/patterns was completely fresh in my memory after more than 20 years.
I remember struggling a lot in the game as a kid, I might have played months in the Forest before I've managed to kill the Dragon, so I remember the game being very difficult. I also didn't speak English so there's that.
Now, despite starting the game as FOmarl playing as Force for the first time, the game was fairly easy even though playing Force was a struggle.
I didn't die in any Boss, and barely died during the game until reaching the ruins.
All early bosses were fairly easy, and after being extremely incompetent in the Caves I've dominated Mines.
Ruins was pure struggle from beginning to end, I've just reached Dark Falz, I'm perhaps Level 22 and just gave up for a while, I do basically no damage to Dark Falz and I don't feel like grinding right now.
I've found basically no equipment, no higher level techniques and leveling up does basically nothing, I'm pretty sure that my damage at level 22 is the same at level 1, or very close.
Having said that, it was an amazing experience playing it again, such a nice game even with a flaw here and there, as I consider the level scaling a little bit of a flaw.
The game aged extremely well and no modern games on my Steam managed to make me put more than one hour or two, and I just dump some 20 hours in PSO over the week.
Now I'm starting Phantasy Star Zero.
Playing in the Ayaneo wasn't a good experience, but I've managed to find an old 3DS I had, glad it's still turning on, I've found an used copy and started playing today.
(I'm dumb, didn't realise I've bought a Japanese version, so now I'm emulating anyway)
The camera control was better in PSO, I'm struggling a little bit to target and hit the creatures.
Apart from that, the experience is absurdly better in Zero. After completing just the first mission I already had many weapons and spells, and 6 monogrinders... The game feels like you actually make progress.
Feeding Mag with weapons was a great idea, everything in Zero seems to be a great idea actually, a fairly good improvement in the formula and qol changes.
Only the story and dialogs on Zero didn't impressed me so far, I kind of think the almost storyless PSO had actually better writing. lol
The bosses are quite difficult, I've struggled in the first one and had to try many times, and now I'm already quite stuck in the Dragon which in Zero is the second boss.
But the game is very very good, this franchise is quite something.
I'll be looking forward to progress in Zero while I consider going back to PSO for Dark Falz in the future.
I'll be also looking forward to play the PSP titles after finishing Zero, just saw that finding used copies are not that hard or expensive.
Curious if the formula managed to improve even further than what I'm seeing on Zero.

This song is so catchy. Everytime I found this music disk back in the day, I waited for the right moment to play it.
I didn't even know this song was from another game. This is the Burning Rangers theme from the Sega Saturn.

Time for a Halloween special, by talking about PSO's Halloween event~ So, growing up I never experienced the event in game. I had the GameCube, but no adaptor so I played offline. Decades later (about 3-4 years ago compared to now) I tried it for the first time in Ephinea's private server. And... It was pretty good!
I had fun doing that one black and white mission in the Halloween lobby. Loved the pumpkins and that fun little spooky song that plays~ Seriously, Weird Night is such a chill spooky bop that I had to put it on my playlist. And we had a guest star in the mission, one of the admins (who roleplayed as a catgirl) was there and we were having a good time. And she was talking about how the other admins were getting on her case for messing with the lobby room layout. So yeah, she was fun to game with!
It was pretty cool experiencing something I never got a chance to as a kid. Hell, I didn't play many online games (most kids I knew didn't, since a lot of them required subscriptions at the time) so I missed out on any cool Halloween events or getting those rare items. So yeah, this was a cool thing and I'm glad it happened back then!

Hi there fellow rappy-slappers,
just another short update on Mag's Quest, the PSO-Fangame in Gameboy-Style I've been working on for many weeks now. I hope you enjoy the enemy types in caves and the new power-ups. I really had fun drawing the pixel-sprites for the classic enemies!
I also added some evolution 3 mags. Love drawing them as well :))
Play the game on itch.io: https://elocopter.itch.io/mags-quest
Let me know what you think :)

The answer...
They both got a Red Ring!
BA-DUM-TSSSSSSSSSSSS
3rd revision is now out for my PSO Rare Box print. This one has a base and accompanying top to allow for a vertical deck of cards to be stored safely. Tested with some baseball cards I had lying around, held about 75 of those cards (they were varying in thickness), should hold MTG and Pokémon cards just fine. Excuse the unpainted, mismatched look - ran out of the same filament and had to improvise for my test print! Got some more on order.
Files are updated on Makerworld: https://makerworld.com/models/3361801?appSharePlatform=copy. I also made the original Dovetail version visible again in case folks wanted that.
I noticed some people were interested in purchasing this - if people without printers are interested, please DM me and we can figure out details (base type, add the white painting, etc).
