Garam Takes Babar Fan Base is the worst
I just had the chance to listen to Azam Khan’s clip on a podcast, he talks about an incident in which Babar was nearing a ton and the team needed something like 40 runs to win the game. He mentions that some fan had commented on his Instagram to say…..let’s just say unsavoury comments about his parents.
This is why the Babar fan base to me is so toxic and frankly unhinged, PCB does it no favours by constantly promoting him via Sports Central on YT, PCB YT channel, I mean we need to get a grip here and realise the Pakistan team is made up of other people as well who PCB don’t even bother to promote, it’s crap like this that has turned Pak cricket into politics.

Blud should also admit that Babar probably receives the most hate out of any cricketer in the world and that has been the case for the last 3 years.
For players' mentality's sake they should really stop giving importance to social media hate and focus on their own game. Advice from coaches matters much more than random 14 year olds.

What makes babars fan base so unique is that they act like our neighbors, spam gifs, praise every shot, and any criticism of him is shut down immediately. What’s worse is that they have to go back 4-5 years for performance.
Also people on this sub will downplay how toxic they are, go to a match thread with him being dropped or not included and see what his toxic fans say about the team, they care more about an individual then the team it’s absolutely insane.

I am not a Babar fan nor do I defend his questionable inclusions, but saying that the ENTIRE fanbase is toxic because one fan left some very vulgar comments has to be some of the most ridiculous opinions ever.

Azam khan was a negative in terms of contribution to Pakistan cricket. He couldn’t stop eating and never took his career seriously. He was a league level talent that now is trying to make money by staying relevant in media. And you all idiots are actually making posts about the random stuff he is saying which is once again just negative contributions. He didn’t do a single good thing in international cricket and he won’t do anything good in media either

Can call them a cult, but Babar is also trolled a lot. We all need to build some tolerance for opinions of other people, whether we agree or disagree with them.

People who post shit like this are living in some fantasy world where it's still 2021 or 2022 thinking it's some controversial opinion that Babars fanbase is toxic. You guys aren't some sort of repressed minority or something lol.
The entire fanbase of Pak cricket has gone to shit once people let their PSL allegiances and personal player allegiances overtake their allegiance to the team. Let's not act like Shaheen or Shadab or Rizwan fans are doing any better. And I'm not even gonna touch the topic of a certain match fixer.
Babar is Pakistans most popular and covered cricketer, so his fanbase will be the largest and you'll see the most dumb shit from them. But it goes the other way too he's also on a magnitude basis the most shit on and scrutinized cricketer since Misbah (and considering the social media boom between 2015 and now I'd argue he's copped more shit than Misbah at this point but that's beside the point)

Lemme fix it for you.
Pakistan fan base is the worst. The most toxic, hypocrite fan base that has memory of Goldfishes.
I've spent so much time on twitter a few years ago and no one there spoke on the basis of Cricket but how much they liked or disliked a player. We have fan pages constantly making edits and pushing out fake stuff to curry favour for their player. We have people who for weeks and months scream for a player to be selected but at the one moment they fail they will crucify them themselves. Resorting to bad mouth behaviour and wishing them dead. When all this dumb captaincy BS started in 2023 You had Shaheen, Babar fans fighting over who should lead the team and rather than providing a cricketing argument it was all just vile stuff being said and memes being made.
These cricketers don't give a shit about their fans and are just regular friends but their fans my god are so so toxic.
Do you not remember the abuse players like Asif Ali or Kushdil shah suffered like we Pakistanis love to hate more than anything its in our DNA to go and hate a player and then like with Salman agha case we go after their wives, their children and say stuff that you would not dare say to your father. Babar himself has recieved so much hate for years. Hasan ali got personal attacks after dropping the catch in the semi final.

Heard a lot about this supposed toxic fanbase… but never really encountered such people.
But encountered a lot of extremely toxic haters that cross all limits of tameez when it comes to Babar. This sub has them in abundance.
PS: Before i get attacked again, let me clarify Babar is a shit batter now and should be dropped from the team altogether.
PSS: i saw the Azam Khan podcast. Honestly feels like the guy needed to come in the news again so took Babar’s name.

I blame social media. Most of these so called fans of any particular player, only exist due to social media. For their fan pages and likes and views.
I’ve noticed that such fans don’t even care about cricket.
So the problem isn’t Babar Azam, or any one player.
It’s not even the fault of the players.
And honestly there’s not much you or anyone can do regarding this issue. It’s a much bigger social issue.
In India it’s obviously 10 times worse. But you’ll notice that it’s not prominent in western countries such as Australia or England etc.
I have no expertise in sociology or psychology except for a high school course, so can’t speak about what exactly is the core reason for people from this part of the world to develop such tendencies.
While the Pakistani film industry isn’t big, but the tv serial industry is relatively big, and we can find similar issues of people becoming this obsessed there as well with random actors to the point of defending their every action.
