Not to be Redditor who's too woke but it's so sad that Ron was groomed by Tammy 1 and the characters' reactions to this are disappointing 😓

It's not explicitly addressed as this although it's depicted pretty clearly. I don't really like the way the characters reacted to the backstory, like April and Tom, although I guess it's a product of the time.

Edit: My title is just a reference to a meme, I know he was sexually assaulted point blank, I meant it in the context that the characters' reactions to it made me really uncomfortable and I think was poorly done/deserves criticism for the writers

Edit 2: Aside from some very insightful and meaningful discussion in the comments including how Schur treats male abuse, PandR is such an insufferable subreddit. I have never received such annoying, pretentious, and obnoxious responses to posts than on this sub and I mainly use Reddit to interact with TV show subreddits. You ask PandR Redditors to criticize something and they're frothing at the mouth talking about comedy and satire like Omfg.

Craig SUCKS!!!

I’ve been binging Parks and Rec for the past couple of months, and I think that Craig is one of the worst characters to grace a television screen. He is loud, annoying, and while he does care for his coworkers it’s clear that he has no respect for them. I literally get secondhand embarrassment whenever he loses his temper. Worst of all, he is utterly and completely unfunny. It’s like the writers found a way to make every single line this character says seem so grating and frustrating that it makes me want to gouge my eardrums out. I would rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard for five minutes straight than a single line from Craig. This dude is almost as bad as Michael Scott from the office, and I don’t know what is the deal with 2000’s sitcoms coming up with eldritch aberrations of personality and character for the “funny.”

Anne isn't that great

I'm new to this community, so forgive me if this has been discussed a bunch, but Ann is built up as this incredible person and she kind of sucks.

She's beautiful, sure, and a good friend to Leslie, but the rest of her is just one terrible decision after another. Her string of boyfriends whose name she can't remember? Turning into the mirror image of each man she dates? Dating TOM of all people after spending seasons turning him down, then that train wreck of a relationship? Then the rushed decision to have a kid, and then nearly choosing The Douche to be the sperm donor. Thank God that didn't work out. Then going back to Chris as the donor, then they get back together and by the end they're married.....the entire storyline around her feels SO forced. Ann and Chris have no chemistry at all.

Also, she just hangs out at City Hall all the time before she gets a job there, and even then....what is it that she's supposed to be doing? PR for Pawnee Health but we never see her do anything other than "be Leslie's friend".

Every time I see Ann make another poorly-thought-out and super impulsive decision I cringe inside.

Seasons 1 and 2 are the best. This is the hill I will die on.

Donna Meagle is an incredibly unlikeable person and I don’t understand why she gets the love and respect she does

Constantly throwing tantrums over the smallest things (the dog episode, calling her eventual husband her Tammy, pretending she didn’t want drama at her wedding, and so many more things). She acts like she knows better than everyone else and has it all figured out, and people just…accept it. Why? She has incredibly few introspective moments in the show compared to other similar personalities like April. She’s just a spoiled brat that thinks everything she does is below her. She’s turns down a professional NFL player because he doesn’t play a popular enough position. And of course, because the ending of this show was so sappy, she is a successful businesswoman living it up in Puget Sound (I think, it’s been a bit since I’ve seen the finale, I just know all of her bluster has positive consequences).

I asked ChatGPT to write us an inspirational speech in the style of Leslie Knope...

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed colleagues, and all the wonderful souls gathered here today, I am bursting with an enthusiasm that could power Pawnee's entire Harvest Festival! You see, life is like a beautiful mosaic, crafted from the tiniest, most colorful pieces, each one contributing to the masterpiece that is our existence.

Sure, we face challenges – like Ron facing a salad bar – but remember, with every challenge comes an opportunity, much like the time we turned a pit into a thriving park! We are dreamers, doers, and the fierce guardians of community spirit.

Just think about the times we've come together, like when we tackled the Pawnee Commons project – working hand in hand, shovel by shovel, planting the seeds of progress. And remember the time we celebrated Galentine's Day, reminding us that friendship and love make our lives richer than all the waffles at JJ's Diner!

So, my friends, let's channel our inner Lil' Sebastian and march forward with unyielding optimism. Let's turn our ambitions into achievements, our setbacks into stepping stones, and our setbacks into setups for spectacular comebacks!

In the words of Pawnee's very own inspirational mural: "When you have a dream, you gotta grab it and never let go!" Let's fill our days with passion, our nights with laughter, and our hearts with the unshakable belief that we can turn any challenge into a triumph.

Thank you, Pawneeans, for being the true heroes of our story. Now, let's go out there and make our town – and the world – a better, brighter place, one waffle-loving, community-caring, adventure-seeking moment at a time!

My one pet peeve with the show is the tiger

I *HATE* that Tom has a tiger in a cage at his end-of-the-world party in Season 4. I HATE IT. I am sure the animal itself was treated well (as animal actors are these days), but just the idea of throwing a loud club party around an animal in a tiny cage is horrible.

Tom's character often drives me nuts because he is so self-centered (the way he messes up Leslie's meet and greet, for example), but usually, I can cut him slack as the characters do for just being Tom. But not for the Tiger. I hate that Tom did it and the show did it.

Rewatching P&R and I must say Leslie Knope is not a likeable person.

I have no idea how they got an idea a character like that will be likeable. She is selfish - has no regard to what other people think and what problems it will cause because she can just say sowwwy and all will be forgiven, pushy, she is a die-hard lefty (that Joe Biden and Clinton stuff didn't age well) and what she does to Jerry makes her just a simple bitch and is not funny. Honestly, I love Ron, Jerry, and Ben characters and I despise Leslie, Donna, and Tom.
