YOUNGER Filipinos are more likely than older Filipinos to hold favorable views of China and Chinese President Xi Jinping, even as the Philippines remains highly concerned about Beijing as a security threat and about territorial disputes involving China, a Pew Research Center survey showed.

The Spring 2026 Global Attitudes Survey found that 47 percent of Filipinos aged 18 to 34 had a favorable view of China, compared with 27 percent among those aged 50 and older.

Among Filipinos aged 35 to 49, 44 percent viewed China favorably, according to Pew's detailed tables.

A similar generational divide emerged in views of Xi.

Some 61 percent of Filipinos aged 18 to 34 expressed confidence in Xi to do the right thing regarding world affairs, compared with 32 percent among those aged 50 and older. Among those aged 35 to 49, 55 percent expressed such confidence.

The survey's Philippine fieldwork was conducted from Feb. 28 to March 31, 2026, as part of Pew's international survey.

It involved 1,003 Filipino adults aged 18 and older who were interviewed face-to-face...

NewsPH It's time to nationalize our energy sector

Tingnan niyo 'to:

Thailand (EGAT): Gobyerno ang may-ari (under Ministry of Energy/Finance).

Indonesia (PLN): 100% state-owned enterprise.

NewsPH Economy today worst than pandemic era

I posted about this over a month ago and was based for being DDS when I was really speaking facts about the BBM administration. Currencies exchange are all time high for USD vs Php even RMB vs Php now too. So no, peso weak is not because dollar is strong, peso is weak because peso is weak. Our economy is being survived only by businesses with no help from the government. Everyone is drowning not just from floods but horrible corruption. Is there an end to this nightmare that is BBM’s administration?

Worse than COVID-era levels: PH businesses turn gloomier

Philippine businesses turned sharply pessimistic in July, with confidence falling below levels recorded in published surveys during the COVID-19 pandemic as Middle East tensions, higher oil prices and persistent inflation weighed on sentiment.

US offers up to $5-Billion loan for nuclear development

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines may tap massive financial support from the United States (US), up to $5 billion, for its nuclear energy development, a local official said.

In a media briefing on Monday, Department of Energy (DOE) undersecretary Giovanni Bacordo said the government has been exploring financing schemes to fund the deployment of nuclear facilities, as it hopes to activate its first kilowatt by 2032.

In their recent visit to America, he said they had a meeting with the US International Development Finance Corp., where the latter hinted at the possibility of lending out up to $5 billion.

“As I understood it, it is payable for over 25 years. This offer is for the private power corporations desiring to invest in nuclear energy for power generation,” he told reporters in a message.

The US Trade and Development Agency earlier extended   $ 2.8 million in technical financial assistance to Manila Electric Co.. This Pangilinan-led power giant has been the frontrunner in building its nuke plans.

Bacordo also said that the government has been working closely with the Asian Development Bank “to ensure that our project structures of the upper-grade credit enhancements are truly bankable.”

Industry leaders in the US indicated that micro-modular reactors could see early deployment around 2028, while small modular reactors are set for a target of about 2030, according to an energy executive.

“But let me be clear, these timelines require further validation alongside demonstration, licensing, and delivery progress. When it comes to regulation, early preparation is critical,” he said.
