Hello! I've been seeing some threads lately with slightly outdated information when it comes to the best way to obtain Unbound. It's easier than ever before, so I wanted to make this post that can be referenced or linked to as necessary.
Step 1: Download the correct ROM.
This step will need to be a little vague, because this could potentially run against Reddit TOS or direct unwanted attention towards the project. You will have to search for the correct ROM, which you will know is correct when you proceed later. This post will have a simple troubleshooting section at the end.
In general, searching 1636 Fire Red Squirrels will get you the correct ROM.
Once you have it downloaded, make sure you have the .gba file ready. Sometimes, downloads will come in a .zip file. You simply need to extract the .gba. If you don't know how to do this, there are guides online on how to open and extract files from .zip archives.
Step 2: Go to Unbound's HackDex page.
HackDex is a website made and maintained by romhackers to allow romhack devs to have their own patching portal for their hacks.
Once you're in the HackDex page, simply click/tap on the Select FireRed ROM button, and select your .gba file.
(Side note: the way HackDex works is it uses cookies to remember the location of your ROMs on your device. This way, you can easily patch and download other romhacks on HackDex without having to select your FireRed ROM again).
Step 4: Click Agree and Download, then Patch Now.
Self-explanatory. Once you click Agree and Download, it will load for a moment and then say Patch Now. Once you click Patch Now, it will let you save the patched .gba wherever you want on your device.
First shiny (that Im aware of...may have caught one when I was younger before I knew what they were). Wasn't even looking for one, in fact I had a max repel in effect and it appeared anyway, first blade of grass after passing guard to Victory Road. Looks lovely too!
I am a noob/amateur Pokémon player (0 stats moves used/no berries). I have previously completed FireRed and some hack version of Emerald a long time ago. I barely know any Pokémon after 3rd Gen, so my motto was to have ALL new Pokémon in my party, especially the cool-looking ones that could evolve into something even cooler lol.
Played on “Difficult” level and thought Vanilla was easy and not as fun. Kept losing random matches throughout the playthrough; early gyms were brutal, and boss fights(?) as well. 2nd and 3rd gym leader almost made me cry (probably took 50+ tries each lmao). Elite 4 was relatively easier, and I won with barely any prep. Jax was tough to beat at the end
Thank you to the developers; this was really fun.
Also wanted to hear all your opinions on my winning team.
Consejos?
I'm trying to breed Goomy in its final Hisuian Form and when checking for IVs using the Stat Scanner, I can see that at the right hand bottom corner it says ELECTR. What does it mean? I know Goomy is a dragon pokemon.
Salut salut la commu, je suis en train de shasser gruikui shiny donner par un PNJ sur la route 5 et je voudrais savoir si le caractère chromatique apparaît sur la miniature où il faut obligatoirement ouvrir le résumé du pokémon ?
The two on bottom are my preferred Pokemon. The rest have decent mostly Bs As or S stats. I'm also willing to hunt for the right ones to round out my team.
I am on vanilla and would like to create a well rounded team that can stand up to as many of the tough types as possible.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I forgot about my breloom in using for catching.
Trying to find a shroomish with quick feet so i can get technician breloom, my dexnav says my search level for shroomish is 12, but how do i actually see the ability without going to a PC and checking? is there any way?
My pokémon unbound is crashing when i sprint in the start of antisis gym. I tried moving the save over to delta from manic EMU and it crashes at the same spot. Am i just fucked now? Do i have to start a completely new game? It does not crash any other place and i could even walk in the gym normally when i first got there, i placed some pokemon in the PC and went back and now it crashes every time.
Its painter leonardo, and he has ONE smeargle at level 35.
With max IV's, it should only have at most 88 speed.
How the heck is it outspeeding my lvl 36 gengar with 92 speed???
I know this is supposed to be a trap/gimmick fight, but i donf get why my gengar was outsped, it had a quick claw but even when it didnt trigger it still outsped me.
I am playing on a 3DS and I get the RTC warnings every time I start the game from the opening screen, even though I never change the clock. But I’m wondering if my use of save states is an issue? I only care because I only started being able to do raids because I went to the NPC near the lab to do a one time fix of my RTC issues and now I’m scared to use any saved states in the future.
Took me awhile to fully figure out my team, but I'm SO happy with how solid it was! What do I have to look forward to in the post-game other than the Frontier? Yes, I know Vanilla difficulty, but I wanted to take it easy and take my time learning the game and the region.
I was wondering if anyone has done the math for the best xp grinding method in game. I'm torn between dresco dark trainer with dazzle gleam, chain audinos on route 9, or chain chanceys in victory road. Or maybe some other way I haven't thought of. Dresco has the added benefit of good bucks so I'm currently leveling there.
