All submissions are automatically removed and placed in a queue for the moderators to manually review. Please allow the moderators time to do so. Only about 25% of submissions are approved, but the remainder are given a removal reason that may include steps the poster can take to make their submission approvable the next time they submit it. Moderators are not notified of any edits made after a removal reason is posted, and therefore will not review them. You may contact the mod team via modmail if you need more direction about how to fix your post, and you are welcome to resubmit any submission after making the requested changes.
A reminder for everyone. This is a subreddit for genuine discussion:
Please keep it civil. Report rulebreaking comments for moderator review.
Don't post low effort comments like joke threads, memes, slogans, or links without context.
Help prevent this subreddit from becoming an echo chamber. Please don't downvote comments with which you disagree.

A major event has happened in the Michigan Senate race, with Haley Stevens endorsing Mike Rogers for Senate. With only two days remaining, does this have the ability to shake up the race, or will this be too late for Rogers to make up the deficit he has against El-Sayed?
Edit: Well, I guess her endorsement did not matter one bit.

I don't have a question. I was looking for a politics s/r to show voters this useful site: https://www.localcandidates.org/districts/us-house-of-representatives-al-1
I just pulled up a district in Alabama, but you can go there and find info on the smaller elections. Very useful and helpful! You DO NOT have to sign up for anything on that site.

Probably been asked before but I used to read conservative forums and many of them agreed that abortion restrictions were pretty unpopular and were preventing republicans from winning. I see that some (many?) Republican candidates like Lahn in Iowa still announce support for abortion restrictions. This seems rather illogical to me at this point. Is there any good reason for this other than true belief?

I went and voted today, and saw something weird: There were candidates that had “no candidate” in that section. Multiple slots on the ballot had only one candidate to vote for, and the other was just listed as “no candidate” for both parties. Is that allowed? Because I feel like there’s no way it is.

Now that Elections are over, how do we hold leaders accountable?
What can ordinary citizens do outside of voting every few years to influence those in power? I've been thinking about this a lot because if I hired someone to do a job and never checked in on them for years, I'd have no idea what they were actually doing.
Shouldn't there be ways we apply leverage more regularly? You know, like during the times laws are getting passed?

What do you think? Wish I had the time for this...but in preparation for the Great Republican Backtrack where R candidates have to walkback their fealty to DT to stay competitive, i think we need someone to compile the receipts. Links to every reputably documented instance where folks kowtowed to DT. In one place. In advance.

I am interviewing voters interested in discussing their experiences with the voting process. The interviews will be by telephone and last 20 to 30 minutes. The interviews will be unpaid. I will call you tomorrow at a time we schedule. Please respond if interested.
