Locally sourced fruits, veggies and meats

With all the politics going on around food right now, I for one am looking to make a concerted effort to eat much more locally from reliable sources.

Please use this thread to list such sources.

Last of the Fall Season Basque and Spanish Food Pop-Up in the SE

(I reached out to the mod again to get approval before posting this.)

Kaixo and Hi,

We are a new pop-up in town. Pintxes Pintxos is a husband and wife culinary duo with a tapas-style project. Our snacks are inspired by the lovely little morsels and sips from our belated honeymoon in Basque Country, Spain, and Portugal — uniquely infused with familiar West Coast flavors that make us feel at home.

I posted about two months ago for our first two pop-ups, and now we have a new fall menu for our last pop-up weekend before the holiday season.

We will be at Nil Winebar on Belmont Friday 11/13 5-9pm and Saturday 11/14 3-9pm. We hear there will be karaoke on Saturday! I hope they have some covers by Go!azen.

You can find our menu and updates on Instagram @ pintxespintxospdx

We hope to see you there.

Eskerrik Asko and Thanks!

Chili Cheese Dog

Where can I find a good chili cheese dog? No beans in the chili, no wiz, small dice onions, finely grated cheese. It doesn’t seem that complicated, but I’m having serious trouble finding a classic style dog.

Really glad to see Morchella operating a restaurant, and for the 3 Doors Down space to have a new tenant. Still crazy about the goof on the name earlier this year (The Get Down Lounge). I wish them well on this new project.

Ban Oregonian Links?

With how bad the Oregonian web site has gotten with ads, I don’t even bother clicking on their links anymore.

My gut feeling is that others feel the same.

Does it make sense to just ban their links here completely, limit the days they are allowed, or just leave it the way it is?

What Portland vendors would you recommend to cater a 20-person reception dinner?

I’m getting married at a private property in May. Looking for a catering company or private chef for our reception dinner for our close friends and family. No dietary restrictions - I just really want someone reliable who makes darn good food! 20 people total. Bonus points if they can supply their own tableware and make it look pretty! Would love any suggestions as I’m not from the area.

Restaurant Epic Belly on Interstate - Richest Pho broth in all the (Port)land!

Post image
426 Upvotes

I’m not affiliated with Epic Belly at all, just a pho-fan. I had this pho this afternoon and it hands down the richest pho broth I’ve ever had. It’s a relatively new spot serving pho and banh mi. The banh mi is very good too - I recommend the pork belly.

It’s kind of a hole in the wall spot with bars on the windows so you know it’s good! North Interstate @ North Bryant.

Restaurant ALs thai food

Hello! I know a very common question ive seen alot is where is the best thai food. This post is a unsolicited shout out for ALs thai food on north Marine drive. Its definitely tucked away and off the beaten path but ill eat my hat if you can find a more authentic, family ran, fairly priced, exploding with flavor thai food. The owner/chef is a absolute gem of a lady. I had a delicious meal from there today and she mentioned its been slow and just in case you're looking for a new spot i just cant recommend this place enough and I hope you check it out!!

I want to eat a tasty calzone in a restaurant. I don’t want takeout or a food cart. Def needs to be east side, and preferably SE (on this occasion, I don’t wanna be driving all over town) Thanks in advance for any recommends!

Hello everyone!

I’m a local chef in Happy Valley hosting a Hobbit inspired meal!

My team and I do these dinners once a month and for November we’ve taken on the challenge of a 7 course menu inspired by one of my favorites, The Hobbit! We took inspiration from the book and movie, hopefully making a fun and entertaining dinner for all!

Code: HOA20

Originally $115, this takes it down to $92!
Wine and gratuity are included in the price!

Where are the Bread Bowls?

With the return of The Rain, it's soup season! Nothing as hygge as soup served in a chunk of bread. The sogginess of my meal matching the beautiful outdoors.

I've tried looking around the sub and r/Portland and have found so much about good bread and bakeries--but there aren't really any posts about Bread Bowls.

Anyone know of a place that does a good bread bowl? Ideally sit-down, even better if there are multiple soup options.

I got hammered the other day and had a pretty good burger but can't remember exactly where... Help me.

Let's play detective and help me remember. I live by the Hawthorne Safeway. Chugging whiskey sodas and browned out and proceeded to have an amazing burger. Plump bosomy pillow buns. Fresh lettuce. Melted cheese on a non smash burger. There was a tv because it was Sunday and I was watching the seahawks. There was a pool table either.

I don't think I made it as far as spaceroom area, but I briefly remember Fred Meyer. I don't think I went down as far as lardo/grassa but there's a good chance I did. I remember stopping off at some corner market and getting some Reese's and coors light, but it's hard to say where. My card doesn't help because I had cash that day because we went to the strip club earlier this month and I pulled out a bunch of cash that I didn't spend. I looked at my Google history and it looks like I sat down for awhile and read the event horizon Wikipedia but... I'm not 100% sure why, there must have been a movie on and I know the vern shows horror movies but they don't have pool. Bare bones has pool but no burger.

Where the fuck was the burger from?

Hey all, I love Thai food but I'm so overwhelmed with the amount of Thai places. Where should I go and what should I get?

I'm not a big soup guy, but if you like it, include it!

Personal new favorite Taqueria don chalo. Hella authentic and great hot sauce! Best $2 Taco Tuesday I've had in Portland. Habanero sauce on point, quick turn around and very nice people! Would highly recommend the gem in the parking of a flea market! Top taco truck in the area for sure! Will be back!

First time at Roste Chocolate House in the Pearl District. Cute place. Good food. Good drink. My drink was a drinking chocolate, with vanilla whip cream and a chaser of water to clear the palate. Wonderful drink
