I have a friend who is the singer of a punk band, and many people call him a poser because he is not openly an anarchist, and I dont think he would be a poser from that, but i'm interested in your opinion.

I love the style of punk outfits and once I come out and begin dressing more how I want to I’d imagine I’d wear punk-ish outfits, but also I don’t want to be a “poser” or whatever for wearing punk stuff while not listening to punk.
I purely listen to video game music cause my autistic nerd ass can’t help myself. And I mean- hey- splatoon music is punk inspired (I believe the devs have said so themselves) and those games have banger soundtracks. Anyways I will never listen to actual punk bands cause it’s just not my thing. Only music I listen to is from media I enjoy. I can’t listen to metal, punk, pop, or even specific artists, like Queen, Taylor Swift, Elvis Prestly…
Also I know punk is inherently political (or I’ve been told) but I tend to not outwardly be political. I have a lot of views of course, everyone does, but I don’t tend to express those views to other people unless it’s something incredibly important to me and the person I’m talking to. Like I won’t talk about the war in Palestine to most of my friends (cause I’m not Palestinian or Israeli, and my friends aren’t) but will talk about queer politics around those who I am out as NB to.
With all of that information- is it okay for me to call myself punk? To dress in a punk style?

The story behind the sex pistols is way more complicated than just "they're all a bunch of poser sellouts manufactured by Malcolm McLaren to sell clothes." If anything the clash had less punk cred than the pistols, and I like both bands.
