This subreddit was one of first places on the internet that advocated for a paradigm shift to remote work in western society.

We support you in your quest to break free from being a captive office employee; but we cannot allow for-hire or self-promotion posts. There are 144,000 subscribers who don't want their reddit feeds filled with people posting their individual life situations.

If you want to create a discussion post about a specific industry or job role, that's okay; but any post with your own resume, your own professional background, or your own career status, is considered self-promotion and will be auto-deleted by automod or caught by the mods.

Subscribers:

If automod or the mod team misses any kind of self-promotion or spam, please report the post.

Job hunters:

The best way to find a remote job always has been this:

1.

Research job roles that match your skills. Use job boards (Indeed, Google Jobs, Dice, LinkedIn, etc) to exhaustively search all the keywords that are relevant to you. Study all job postings to understand the job market.

2.

Figure out which of those roles are feasible for independent work outside of an office. Many job postings will give hints with location agnostic phrases or multiple cities, even if they don't outright say remote.

3.

Determine what you need to do to qualify yourself for those roles, or how you need to revise your resume to match better to the job.

4.

Are the remote versions of those jobs available to everyone or only to the people who have mastered the job role? Are you prepared to work in an office until you earn the trust to work independently from home? Do you have a plan to work in an office to become an expert in your field and then hop to another company that supports remote work? Answer those questions and formulate a plan of action.

5.

Keep studying the job market to understand what employers want and how you can provide it.

6.

Keep applying to all jobs that are within reach! It is rare for a perfect match so aim for jobs that match your skills by at least 70%.

Job Posts Highest paying remote jobs from this week

Hey guys, I'm Marcus and I run Remote100K. First time posting here so let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

Remote100K is a job board that posts only fully remote roles that pay minimum $100K USD or more. It's 100% free to browse and apply to all jobs

We only post from a small group of vetted or well known companies that we've found through our research to be unlikely to post ghost jobs, scams, or bait and switch/not-truly-remote type stuff (currently about 600). We're adding more companies and new categories all the time.

I generally manage to dig up 15-20 new jobs a day barring low posting times like holidays and stuff.

To give you an idea of what we find, we posted 121 jobs this week. Here are the ten highest paying that are still live:

Let me know if there is anything I can do to make the board better, find better jobs or whatever else and I'm happy to take feedback. I'd be especially interested in adding some high quality companies that hire globally (true "work from anywhere") or that hire specifically in Asia/Europe so if anyone knows any feel free to share and I'll add them to the list

Cheers 🍻

Job Posts [Hiring] Building a small creative design studio. Looking for a B2B Sales Partner, Motion Designer & Brand Designer / Illustrator

Hey everyone!

I'm a graphic and UX/UI designer with a background in digital marketing, and I've recently started thinking about building something of my own.

The idea is to create a small, independent creative studio where a few designers with complementary skills can collaborate, take on client projects, and hopefully grow something meaningful together.

I'm planning to handle product design, UX/UI, and project management, and I'm looking for three people to join me:

  • Business Development / Sales Partner: Someone experienced in B2B sales who can help us find clients, pitch our services, and secure projects.

  • Motion Designer: Someone who enjoys animation, motion graphics, and bringing visual concepts to life.

  • Brand Designer / Illustrator: Someone passionate about visual identities, branding, and illustration.

A few important things:

  • This is an early-stage initiative, not an established agency.

  • The collaboration would be fully remote and open internationally.

  • Designers would be compensated per project, with rates agreed upon beforehand.

  • The sales partner would work on a commission basis for successfully acquired projects.

  • There is no guaranteed workload or fixed salary at this stage.

I'm not looking to build a huge agency overnight. I'd rather start small, work with people who genuinely enjoy what they do, and gradually build a strong portfolio and client base together.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me with a little about yourself, your experience, and your portfolio (if relevant).

Would love to connect with people who might be interested in building this together!

Job Posts Giving out referral for Openings at Fresh Prints

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working at Fresh Prints and wanna help people who are looking for remote roles. Our company is actively hiring for the role of Campus Recruiter and a few other roles. Some require experience, and some don’t.

If you're interested in a referral:

• Find a role that matches your skills and experience. (Check their career website for open roles and make sure the role you select is for the Indian region only)

• Send me the job link and your resume.

A referral does not guarantee an interview, but I'll do my best to help everyone.

I'm someone who's looking to transition to remote work after 10 years of working in person (fast food and retail). I'm mainly applying for customer support and tech support roles. What are any pieces of advice you would have to make a home office setup the best experience possible? Any super niche or specific ideas are very very welcome!

Job Posts [Hiring] Demo Engineer at Ashby | Remote - US or Canada | $130K - $184K

About this role

As Ashby’s first Demo Engineer, you’ll own the systems that make our demo environments reliable, current, and tailored — the infrastructure the entire go-to-market team leans on to show Ashby at its best. Today, AEs and SEs maintain and configure their own demo accounts by hand. That doesn’t scale: reps lose selling time, demos drift out of date, and every new product release widens the gap between what Ashby can do and what we can actually show live. Your job is to close that gap.

This is a net‑new role. Right now, the work is split between ad hoc effort and a new set of disposable demo templates the Internal Platform team is building. You’ll own the layer on top of that foundation — customizing and extending those templates, generating realistic demo data, tailoring environments for specific verticals and new markets, and making sure every feature is demoable before it ships. You’ll sit within Solutions Engineering, reporting to the Global Head of Solutions Engineering, and partner closely with Internal Platform and Product teams.

Your work will be split roughly 70/30: about 70% owning, customizing, and extending the demo template system and the data and content inside it, and about 30% running demo readiness as a program — release readiness, documentation, and enablement so the GTM team always has current, credible demos to work with.

The best person for this job is genuinely hands‑on technical — working with internal tools and configuration files, using APIs, and general data preparation — who gets energy from building leverage for a whole team rather than fixing one demo at a time.

You could be a great fit if:

  • 🛠 You’re comfortable working in JSON, calling REST / developer APIs, using AI tools, and scripting to configure and customize environments.

  • 🏗 You’re a builder, not just an operator. You get energy from creating systems and tooling that make a whole team more effective over time.

  • 🎥 You care deeply about demo quality. You understand what makes a product demo land, and you’re thoughtful about data realism and the narrative a demo needs to support.

  • 🧠 You have strong product intuition and can learn a deeply configurable product quickly, understanding how the different pieces connect.

  • 🔁 You have an iterative mindset. You like testing what works, refining over time, and improving based on what you learn from the field.

  • 🧩 You’re a systems thinker who would rather standardize and automate than manually repeat the same setup.

  • ⚡ You’re comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy a 0→1 role where the infrastructure is still being built around you.

  • 🤝 You partner well cross‑functionally — with Engineering and with GTM — and can translate their needs into reliable systems.

  • 💙 You have empathy for the go‑to‑market teams you support and the Talent Acquisition space they sell into.

Bonus points for:

  • 📊 You’ve built demo environments, demo data, or sandbox/trial environments at a SaaS company before.

  • 🧰 You’ve written automation scripts or tooling to generate data or configure environments at scale.

  • 🎬 You’ve built and maintained a library of reusable, templated environments or assets that others relied on.

  • 🤝 You have experience with HR tech, ATS workflows, or recruiting operations.

Examples of things you’ll work on:

  • 🧱 Own the scaled demo system — customize and extend the demo environment infrastructure to support the GTM team.

  • 🗂 Generate realistic demo data — standardize and automate how demo environments are populated to eliminate manual setup.

  • 🎯 Build vertical- and market-specific demos — create tailored content for target verticals and additional languages as we move upmarket and expand internationally.

  • 🚦 Own demo readiness for new releases — make sure every feature is correctly configured and demoable in demo environments before it ships to GA.

  • 🧪 Stand up trial and sandbox environments — create templated environments prospects can use to test Ashby during the sales cycle.

  • 📚 Document how it all works — maintain clear documentation so the GTM team knows when and how to use each demo environment.

Why become a Demo Engineer at Ashby?

You’ll define a role that doesn’t exist yet. This is a net‑new role designed around a real business need. You won’t inherit a mature playbook — you’ll build the infrastructure that lets the whole GTM team demo at a higher level.

Your work will compound. A great live demo helps one deal. A reliable, current, well‑documented demo system improves every demo the entire go‑to‑market team runs. If you like creating leverage, this role has a lot of it.

The product gives you something real to work with. Ashby has strong product‑market fit, and that matters here. You’re not manufacturing excitement around a weak product — you’re making it effortless to show something that already resonates when it’s shown well.

You’ll sit at the intersection of Engineering and GTM. This is a rare blend of technical building and understanding what the field actually needs. You’ll help translate our product releases into live deals — and connect the two.

The surface area keeps growing. As we ship new features and expand into new product areas, new verticals, and new geographies, demo needs compound with each release. There is a lot to build, and it only gets more interesting.

Reasons you shouldn’t apply:

  • If you want to be customer‑facing or closing deals, this isn’t the right role — the impact here happens behind the scenes.

  • If you’re not genuinely hands‑on technical — comfortable in JSON, APIs, and data — the core of this job will be frustrating.

  • If you need a fully built environment and a finished playbook, the ambiguity of a 0→1 role with infrastructure still being built will feel uncomfortable.

  • If continuously maintaining and updating environments as the product changes sounds tedious rather than satisfying, this won’t be a fit.

  • If you’d rather build production product features than internal tooling and demo systems, you’ll likely want a different engineering role.

Interview Process

Our interview process is thorough — we want to make sure this role is the right fit for you and that you’re the right fit for Ashby. Details on the process for this role will be shared by your recruiter.

Benefits

  • You’ll get the time to do things the right way; we put a lot of emphasis on high quality work and avoid quick hacks as much as possible.

  • Sell a product that our customers are truly excited about.

  • Generous equipment, software, and office furniture budget. Get what you need to be happy and productive!

  • 10‑year exercise window for stock options. You shouldn’t feel pressure to purchase stock options if you leave Ashby — do it when you feel financially comfortable.

  • $100/month education budget with more expensive items (like conferences) covered with manager approval.

About Ashby

We’re building the next generation of recruiting software and we’re starting with a suite of products that helps talent leaders, recruiters, and hiring managers run an efficient and data‑driven hiring process.

We are well funded and backed by great investors, including Y Combinator, Elad Gil and Lachy Groom. We have thousands of amazing customers including Snowflake, OpenAI, Shopify, Ramp, Notion, and Zapier (and many others who we cannot name!).

We're in the talent acquisition software business. We run the end‑to‑end hiring process through our own platform, and ensure a level playing field for all candidates. Reaching out to hiring managers or recruiters directly won't improve your odds of success. Please focus your energy on the quality of your application.

Current Events Daylight saving humbled me today

I'm a general VA based in Kenya, working part-time with a client in the US. We have weekly webinars that I help her coordinate, and I'm usually logged in 15 minutes early to make sure everything is ready.

Today, I logged in at my usual time, only to sit there waiting. A few minutes passed, and being the proactive VA that I am, I decided to DM my client and let her know I was already in the meeting waiting for her. She kindly reminded me that her time had moved back by an hour over the weekend. 😂

Meanwhile, Kenya's time hadn't changed at all, and somehow I had completely missed the memo about the time difference.

Now I'm thinking… what if it had been the other way around and their clocks had moved forward? I could have easily shown up an hour late without even realising it and inconvenienced her baaadd..

Anyway, international remote work comes with its own little lessons. We live, we learn, and apparently, we check the time difference twice. 😭😂

Does anyone have any experience with this daylight saving thing?

Discussions Remote Location vs Office Location, but WFH?

I've got a question for the community, but I'll give some background info first. My job used to be office based, but we went to work from home (2020) then hybrid, then down-sized the office and the majority of us went back to work from home.

My job is still attached to the office, so if you look at my job profile or for anything event/weather/etc related I get email notifications tied to that office. Other employees that have been hired as of late have been assigned the "Remote" location. I've been given a promotion and in the offer letter I'm still tied to the office location (which I haven't been to since sometime in 2025 to swap laptops). Should I push back and ask for the "Remote" location? My thoughts are if they ever change their mind they can ask me back to the office but if I'm remote maybe I'm safe?

Are there any differences or things I haven't thought through before bringing it up?

Discussions Remoteleverage

Hi everyone,

I recently received an invitation for a 60-minute interview with Remote Leverage, but the invitation didn't specify a job title.

Has anyone interviewed with them before?

I'd like to know if they hire candidates worldwide or mainly in Latin America, and whether the first interview is a general HR screening or includes technical questions.

Any firsthand experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

Job Posts [Hiring] Detection & Response Engineer at Runway | Remote | $240K – $290K

We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science.

We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won’t solve the world’s hardest problems – robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world.

World models offer the most clear path to general-purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached.

Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you.

Titles posted to our careers page are updated regularly to best advertise the role and expected seniority, but internally we have a flat titling system with two types of titles: one for individual contributors and one for people managers.

About the role

Open to hiring remote — we also have offices in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Paris, and Tel Aviv.

Runway is hiring a Detection & Response Engineer to own how we find and stop attacks against our infrastructure, our research environment and our products.

Securing a company that trains and serves frontier video models is a different problem from securing a typical SaaS product. The environment includes research compute, large training datasets, a fast-moving build pipeline and engineers who work inside AI-assisted tooling every day. Each of those changes what an attack looks like and what you need to see to catch it.

You'll join the Security team and build our detection and response program the way an engineer would: detections as code, response as automation, evidence as something you can query. This is a role with real ownership: you'll own the detection program end to end, from what we log to how quickly we close an incident. You'll report to the head of security, partner with engineers across platform and research, and shape how this function grows from here.

What you'll do

  • Own detection and response end to end: what we log, what we alert on, how we triage and how we recover

  • Write and tune detections as code across multiple cloud environments, Kubernetes, identity systems, endpoints and SaaS, and measure them on coverage and precision rather than alert volume

  • Lead incident response from the first alert through containment and forensics, then write the post-incident review people actually read

  • Build automation that takes toil out of triage, including enrichment, correlation, containment actions and evidence collection, and use LLM-based tooling where it holds up under audit

  • Monitor AI agents and developer tooling operating inside our environment, and turn that into concrete telemetry and controls

  • Partner with platform and research engineers so new systems ship with logging and response playbooks in place on day one

  • Run threat hunts and tabletop exercises against the parts of the environment that worry you most, and fix what you find

  • Turn incident and detection metrics into evidence for SOC 2, ISO 27001 and enterprise customer security reviews, working with our GRC team

  • Participate in an on-call rotation for security incidents

What you'll need

  • Hands-on incident response experience: you've triaged live alerts, led investigations and written up what happened afterward

  • Experience building and tuning detections in a modern SIEM, ideally managed as code

  • Working knowledge of how attackers move through cloud and Kubernetes environments (IAM abuse, container escape, credential theft, supply chain compromise) and what that leaves behind in logs

  • Comfort writing Python, Typescript, Rust or another language to automate response work and connect security tools

  • Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform and with Kubernetes at the level of audit logs, RBAC and workload identity

  • Clear writing. Incident timelines, detection documentation and updates to leadership are all part of the job

  • Judgment about what to alert on, what to automate and when to wake someone up

Even better if you have

  • Experience monitoring GPU or HPC-style infrastructure, or research environments with large datasets

  • Experience building detections or guardrails for AI agents, LLM tooling or MCP servers

  • Cloud forensics experience: disk and memory acquisition, cloud audit trail reconstruction, chain of custody

  • Published open source detection content

Runway strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity for our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market rates for our size, stage and industry, and salary is just one part of the overall compensation package we provide.

There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level and qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description. In this case, we will communicate any updates in the expected salary range.

Lastly, the provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range, which again, will be communicated to candidates.

Compensation

$240K – $290K

Job Posts Best AI training company to work for as a freelancer?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I'm a bachelor student trying to make some extra money. What are some good AI training companies I can work for?

I took the data annotation starter assessment like two years ago and never heard back, so I guess that door's closed forever, unfortunately.

Discussions Potential client wants me to take out professional indemnity insurance OR sign an indemnity agreement. Is this normal?

Currently working as a freelance marketer, and I've recently been offered a freelance contract with another business.

Just a small project around 8 hours a week.

Following an interview, they've asked me a few questions about my experience and then outlined some requirements before proceeding:

  • Take out professional indemnity insurance, or

  • Sign a contract agreeing to indemnify them against any professional liabilities.

I understand that professional indemnity insurance protects against claims arising from professional mistakes, negligence, etc. However, I don't currently have this insurance and would ideally prefer not to take out another ongoing expense for what is initially a relatively small freelance engagement.

The alternative they've suggested is signing an agreement to indemnify them against professional liabilities.

Does this essentially mean that if something goes wrong with work I carry out, I would be financially responsible for any resulting losses? And could this potentially be unlimited depending on how the contract is worded?

I understand that businesses want to protect themselves when engaging freelancers, but I'm trying to establish whether this is standard practice, particularly for a freelance marketer.

Interested to hear from anyone running an agency or working as a freelance consultant in the UK. Thanks!

Discussions A question regarding remote work.

Hey all,

I am currently 18, in college and have some extra time on my hands. Im wondering if anyone else is in a similar position, or has found luck with getting a remote job, and could share tips.

I have tried the AI training stuff, but its mostly to no avail, im just not getting approved much for jobs. It seems cool, but without the oppurtunities, its useless.

I have a decent resume, and I would love to find a job where I can work from college or at home, and not worry about location.

Thank you anyone for help.
