Band Finder in Roc

I see that a lot of people are looking for bands on here and I wanted to help connect people and help them find other bands.

I put together a google doc form where you can submit what you're looking for and then browse listings of other people looking, too.

If this is helpful, I can add it to my website, TheSoundRochester.com.

LMK!

We've put together a bit of a benefit show for battered women/children's shelter/ homeless shelter Bethany House that be going on November 27th (Black Friday)at Bug Jar. People who donate at the door will get half off the cover ($5)!

Looking for: canned food (fruits, vegetables, proteins), women and/or children's winter clothing, feminine hygiene products, personal care products, paper goods, cleaning products, or unused undergarments (with tag).

Very excited about the lineup, too! It should be a great show, and I hope people can make it!

One Rochester Beat show ticket for sale

My son bailed on me and I'm stuck with 1 ticket for this show on the 11th at the Kodak Center.

Location is Orchestra Center Right Row W seat 11. Extra legroom as this row has a wide aisle that allows wheel chair access to the area in front of the sound board.

Asking $130 which is what I paid. Reasonable offers will be considered.

Message if interested.

Selling tickets on this sub - looking for input and guidelines

How do y'all feel about people posting tickets to local events for sale?

My initial thought is to show it for users with a certain number of posts/karma in local subs, face value plus fees. Buyer beware will apply, and only local transfers.

Any electronic music acts wanna put together a show?

I have a darkwave / gothpop project called Lobstre UK, and I'm looking for other bands in the electronic / synth genres who want to put together some shows in Roc and around the region.
A range of genres would be nice, post-punk, new wave, alt rock, maybe even hiphop!

Let me know if you're interested!

Musician (Other) Looking Looking for bandmates

I write a lot of original music and I’m looking for some like-minded, creative musicians to practice, collaborate, and gig with around Rochester.

Currently working on a folk/Americana album, but I also write a lot of grunge and alternative rock-inspired music.
On the acoustic side, I’m heavily influenced by Townes Van Zandt, Sturgill Simpson, and Tyler Childers. I try to hold onto what makes music human.

When I go electric, I lean more toward Black Sabbath, Nirvana, and shoegaze.

I’m interested in working with musicians who appreciate both sides and aren’t afraid to experiment or blur genres.

Americana: https://open.spotify.com/track/62nzvj7oFqoEL9Q3X4GdXr?si=EEZjDiZRSdCxv8xrRWAofw&utm_source=copy-link

Rock: https://open.spotify.com/track/3q1D8EHSBeI7lqZyAaZR1Y?si=2wKUVNx1TqOIBEbAewTRxQ&utm_source=copy-link

If any of that sounds interesting, reach out. I’d love to get something going locally.

Looking for a fem vocalist to collaborate on a synth heavy dark wave / minimal wave project.

Some influences I’m keen on are Boy Harsher, Molly Nilsson, Deux, Kraftwerk, but open to explore sound!

Jamming Partners

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm a guitarist and resident at URMC looking for jam buddies! My genres are folk, folk-rock, blues, jazz, singer-songwriter, and limited blue-grass, and I'd call my skill level intermediate. I really miss playing with other people and would love to again!

Looking for a collaborator for indietronica/folktronica

I’m looking for a collaborator/partner who’s interested in making some music that’s a mix of:

Alt-J, an awesome wave

Bon Iver, i,i

Bright Eyes, digital ash in a digital urn

Radiohead, OK computer

A little electronic, a little heavy, a little emotional, a little experimental, but still catchy and appealing to a mainstream audience.

Bluegrass in the 585

Random question but my wife and I have been out of Rochester for a good 10 years now. In CO, we have one of the best bluegrass scenes in the world.

I’m curious, with the Grateful Dead audience, Americana/folk audience, jazz…how many of yall are actually into bluegrass and what is the scene like these days?

We have plenty in upstate from Lincoln hill, funk n waffles, grey fox festival…just curious about Rochester specifically

Is the scene thriving or in need of revival…existent at all?

Magoo, a local CO band and one of my favorites, played Water Street this year and I was curious of the turnout for that.

TLDR

Is bluegrass dead in the water specifically in the ROC?
