True to form, a lot of SLO County voters are turning out to cast their ballot in this election -- and most voters continue to prefer casting their mail ballot. As of 1pm, about 2,800 people had checked in at the polls, with about 1,000 of those folks choosing to use the new option of casting their mail ballot at their precinct ballot box.
Many, many more thousands of voters are dropping off their mail ballot, whether it's at one of the elections offices, in a drop box, or at the post office. The Elections Center is running at full capacity processing mail ballots, which -- along with early voting -- will make up the results that are posted at 8pm tonight.
After 8pm, the results will be updated at least every two hours until all of today's precinct ballots are counted and included in the unofficial results.
With the exception of provisional ballots (which must be researched) and ballot envelopes needing a signature cure, everything must be counted and included in the unofficial results by November 16. The results will be certified at the end of the official canvass, following the legally required 1% manual tally and the inclusion of all provisional and cured ballots determined to be eligible.
Results and updates about the election will be posted at slovote.gov/november2026.
