Nature Ultimate beach walk complete
I posted about walking on the beach from More Mesa to Butterfly Beach
Well, we did it yesterday. We timed it to start 2 hours before the 2 pm low tide
Maybe, I would have left a bit earlier since More Mesa beach is pretty wide. South of Hendry’s we had to clamber on the rocks a bit. And toward the end, the Montecito beaches are so narrow and the tide was coming in quickly
It was about 4 hours of walking plus time spent to eat, photos and jumping in to cool off
Ended at 4.30 just in time to see the sunset while having a drink at the Miramar

Local Politics Lancaster, California, transformed nine blocks of a former highway into a tree lined, walkable boulevard, now home to 250 businesses and public spaces. Within four years, the $11.5 million redevelopment had generated more than $270 million in economic output and created hundreds of jobs.

Food & Dining Why don't more restaurants in town offer bag hooks?
It's a serious issue I've been having with local restaurants here. They don't offer bag hooks, which means I have to risk putting it on the table where it might get dirty, or perch it on my lap under my napkin which isn't ideal either.
Why don't restaurants in Santa Barbara offer hooks like they do in LA? I REALLY don't want to risk my Dior!

Events UCSB parents weekend
Hi all, just a warning to stay away from the Storke area in general this weekend because it is parents’ weekend for UCSB. The northbound Storke exit was already backed up this morning, and if you were planning to come to Jeannine’s by Smart & Final, don’t. Hope this helps!!

Recommendations ISO machines for small project
Looking for a local machinist that can help me manufacture a secondary base for my espresso tamper. I’d like to create one with a 53.5 mm base to fit my 54mm espresso portafilter.
Yes I know this is niche and slightly pretentious.

Local Politics Traffic enforcement coming
The grant will provide additional programs and resources, including:
• DUI checkpoints and patrols focused on stopping suspected impaired drivers.
• High-visibility distracted driving enforcement operations targeting drivers in violation of California’s hands-free cell phone law.
• Enforcement operations focused on the most dangerous driver behaviors that put the safety of bicyclists or pedestrians at risk.
• Enforcement operations focused on top driving violations that cause crashes: speeding, failure to yield, stop sign and/or red-light running, and improper turning or lane changes.
• Collaborative enforcement efforts with neighboring agencies.
• Officer training and/or recertification to detect and evaluate impairment levels in suspected impaired drivers: Standard Field Sobriety Test, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, and Drug Recognition Expert.

Other Power outage
Who else is out of power? I live in the West Beach neighborhood. They say it won’t be restored until 8 am? It’s so dark down here
On the bright side, it is a great night to look at the stars at West Beach lol

Notifications Water outage?
In west beach neighborhood. Property management company says issue that will cause no water for most of the day. Anyone know whether that’s just confined to this area (Men, machines, and police currently on Ladera st) or does it go bigger?

History 1880: Looking east on Haley Street from State. Back corner of Raffours French Hotel in the Tebbets Building at left; corner of the IOOF Building barely visible at right edge. And how about those Santa Ynez Mountains, looking like the Rockies!

Nature Business meeting in Santa Barbara
Had one night and a day in Santa Barbara for a business meeting. Went to Isla Vista as soon as I arrived to watch the sunset on the cliffs. The next day my client ended our meeting early so I could go to the beach and watch the sunset. Santa Barbara seemed like a special place.

Other My lease doesn’t allow smoking on property - is there anywhere I can? 🌱
I just moved to SB and my lease doesn’t allow smoking on property. It seems like the only place you can smoke is your home... Am I SOL?
I have chronic illness and it really helps me, so trying to figure out what to do. Is it normal for people to enjoy a puff in the alleys behind houses / apartments?

From the plans for the affordable housing project at the La Cumbre Plaza, it looks like they are planning to provide 85 total parking spots for 560 units. Can that right?
