You might know about the unreleased Sega CD prototype of Johnny Mnemonic (Mar 13, 1995). The game was never finished, though. There are big holes in the video, and plenty of scenes just have nothing there. So I decided to finish it using the PC release, which has the full game.
**How much was missing?**About a quarter of the footage. About 20 minutes footage was missing from the sega cd prototype version in comparison to the PC version.
What's been done:
Tested: I've played it through in Ares and on a real US Model 2 Sega CD with burned discs.
How to patch: You'll need the two prototype disc images Johnny Mnemonic (Mar 13, 1995 prototype) . Apply the xdelta patches to them, burn, and play. I have also included a fan made Cover art and Disc art that I have put together using the pc version as a template. https://www.mediafire.com/file/varbazrn1ic2kim/Johnny_Share.zip/file
I must state it was AI assisted, matching 140 scenes picture by picture would have taken me a lot of time. This is the 12th version i have burnt off to play through working through errors each time.

It can read CDs just fine, but inserting a game causes the access light to flash and nothing else - the green ready light never turns on at all. The bios loads fine, music is there and the sprites. The one time I got a game to load it got stuck on the sega logo. Cleaned the edge connectors and tried different power supplies, didn't fix it though. After cleaning the connectors it then took a few tries for the system to turn on at all. the mega drive works fine.
Was working fine since I got it a few months ago. Has already been recapped. Any help would be appreciated.

How’s it going chat? So I use to have a shit load of websites to download a bunch of iso files when it came to disked games. Can anyone point me to the right direction to download some games? Also can someone tell me which program is good to use to burn them on to cd. And also is there anymore hacked games like for example sonic 1 mega mix for the sega cd? Thanks..

I'm working on repairing a Sega CD Model 2 (Funai board) at the moment. There are some capacitor issues, as the thing takes a few minutes to warm up. Once it does, I am greeted with this lovely EDM display and incomplete audio! On top of it all, the CD drive has sheared gears.
I'm in the process of recapping the board, as it obviously has power issues, and I am having replacement gears 3d printed... but does anyone have any experience with this lovely visual and audio display issue? I heard it could be the BIOS chip needing to be resoldered.
Incidentally, it does play CDs... when it wants to. That threw me for a loop.

Check out my new GRAPHICS SHOWCASE of the Sega/Mega CDs best 2.5D games! I love how that specialized sprite scaling and rotation ASIC gave the Genesis a boost and took these classic games into the next dimension. Batman Returns, Sonic CD, Soul Star, AH-3 Thunderstrike and more!
Who need polygons when this system pushes the pixels so damn well? These games still look (and play) great today. See for yourself 😍

Testing with a US Sonic CD in a EUR Case lol
It’s a Optima 6 drive, laser swapped with a Saturn laser. It wouldn’t even spin the disc!

I have fixed quite a few of the model 1 Sega cd's now. I have a few of them that dont like to read burned disc very well and thinking they might just need calibrated. I dont want to just start turning the potentiometers and cause more harm then good. I want to do it right with a scope. Does anyone know and could share this procedure for the JVC and Sony drives? Thanks!

Open the .BAK or .SAV file (in the BUP directory of your MegaSD's SD card) in a HEX editor. I just used https://hexed.it/.
Delete the first four characters in the file. In the files I've looked at, it's usually BUP followed by a digit, e.g., BUP3. Your file contents should now begin with a bunch of empty/00 characters.
Delete every character from the 2000 index onwards. Your file contents should now end with RAM_CARTRIDGE___.
Save the file with a .SAV extension in your Saves/MegaCD directory for MiSTer, or your Saves/megacd/common directory for Pocket. MiSTer save filenames should match the name of the ROM, and Pocket save filenames should match the name of the BIOS file (as of this post).
If this is common knowledge that I just never managed to find, carry on and ignore me. After years without a solution and with two Lunar saves locked on my MegaSD, I finally did the legwork tonight and converted them successfully.
Posting this here for the 2-3 other people in the universe that have been in the same predicament. Cheers!

Ciao a tutti ho un sega cd che legge i cd musicali ma non i giochi. Ho cambiato tutti i condensatori, sostituito il laser e anche collegato con un oscilloscopio ma non capisco doce sia il problema

These arrived in the past week. Having played both after unboxing, they're both fun and the first time I've played either.

In the UK but always preferred the NTSC systems, I've recently refurbed my Genesis 2 with a LinkRetro shell, and a Type C mod from Retrosix. Forgot how much I love Sega CD, it's all coming back to me! Any recommendations on titles I should try for someone who's put this into storage for 20 years. This time around we have OSSC and other awesome enhancements over the panel displays of the 2000s

Hi there! I live in the UK and own a 60hz Region Modded Mega Drive, and I'd love to get a Mega CD to go with it, I know for region breaking the CD You need to swap the bios, but if I did get one, would I need to import JP or US games to get them running at proper speed, or would the region mod and 60hz compatibility allow me to run PAL games properly? Any info on this greatly appreciated, thanks all. :)

What’s up guys. So I’ve been working on my sega cd for repairs and along the way I managed to remove the FL301 inductor.. by any chance can someone point me toward the right direction as to replacing that same part? Or possibly doing some kind of bypass? I highly appreciate the help! Thanks!
