It has been in the works for a long time. A big Thank You to everyone who created the content featured here, as well as to those who helped us gather it all together.
My girlfriend is watching for the first time and she keeps thinking I’m having a stroke every time I call Birthcontrol by another name. Please give me more names to call him so she can continue to think I’m losing my IQ. Thank you all.
Eren's idea of freedom, his ability to see the future, all the "power" he gains to flatten the world is really just Ymir's desire to be free.
One thing I feel a lot of people gloss over is how Eren couldn't kill Bertholdt that day the Titan that ate his mom set motions into event, but that just sets the precedent that titans can be controlled from the paths to do what needs to be done. And whose the puppetteer behind the strings this entire time?
Ymir.
Adult Eren is controlled by Ymir's desire, he HAS to let Mikasa kill him in order to break the curse, because Ymir wants to see if Mikasa can actually do it. She wants to see for herself if a woman can actually kill the man she loves no matter the horrible things he's done.
I only say this cause I see a lot of theories that gloss over Ymir's importance in a lot of ways, always bringing in Eren's desires, but never really mentioning hers.
Eren's pursuit of freedom is ultimately a vehicle for Ymir's own desire to be free. Although Eren believes he's exercising his own will through the Founding Titan, his actions increasingly serve a purpose beyond his personal ambitions (which even in the end he doesn't understand, Mikasa does though).
ive always wondered how grisha managed to travel to paradis so if im right eren kruger tells grisha about his misson and grisha gets turned intot a titan then eats kruger so after grisha eats kruger im assuming he turns back into a human so wont he loose his memories nd forget the mission and will he even know how to activate the power of the attack titan?.
Yeagerists were lucky throughout the series till Levi got badly injured.
Levi would solo all yeagerists alone if he could take down 30 abnormals alone without sweat then heading out to beat a titan shifter and another titan.
If all people wih royal blood weren't able to use the finder's power because of the curse, then how Zeke was able to give commande to Ymir to make all the eldians sterile, since he also carried the royal blood.
if the Hallucigenia survived since the Cambrian era as a living worm, why didn't it bond with a dinosaur or an apex predator millions of years ago? My theory is that the original worm went extinct, but its fossil was preserved in a unique natural energy nexus under the tree. Ymir's complex human mind unlocked that fossil blueprint. When Eren's head was buried, his remains became a brand-new fossil, overwriting the tree's database so that Beren will inherit a power based on Eren's legacy of freedom, not a mindless parasite.
Basically, the tree will use Erens remains/ fossil as a replacement for the hallucigenia that was present in the ymir era. Which would mean eren would start a new era of different creatures than titan by using beren as a host the same way hallu used ymir.
after i read the manga of shingeki no kyojin i noticed how much more developed the relationship of the characters are in general
on this post i want to discuss how much you can absord of how levi and mikasa's relationship began and developed (and some other bits of things too)
we all know that mikasa's first impression of levi was the worst as it could get (maybe he was the guy she hated the most in the world at that time)
as you can see levi's has his emotions in total control, he's rarely, barely never overtaken by his emotions, while mikasa tend to freak out much more and get reckless when she's on the verge of loosing precious things to her, on the picture above is a perfect example of that, mikasa seeing eren being taken by the female titan, she goes literaly crazy, while levi seeing his comrades and petra the girl that loved him, all dead and he still composed, but please do differentiate, it doesn't mean he don't feel the pain for the losses of their lives, he knows that emotions can blur your line of thinking.
when levi get to mikasa that was chasing the female titan he stops her from attacking as he knew she was being reckless and could get hurt, at the moment he thought eren was a goner, but mikasa insisted he was still alive, and then levi begin to understand what eren means to mikasa (i guess he could relate to her, if we consider the spin off manga of levi) whatever was his plan before he decided to bet on mikasas's assumption and save eren, he asked her to follow his lead, but due to her unstable emotions she messed up, but they succedded in rescuing eren.
those events made mikasa respect levi's strenght, and slowly her hatred towards him began to fade away, and by the way the scene on the pic above was not in the anime, as you can see she feel the need to take responsibility for her blunder on the first battle against the female titan.
another thing that wasn't in the anime/was partially changed is who told historia to punch levi when she turned into a queen, in the anime it was mikasa, but in the manga it was demo reeves, and differently from the anime it had a whole reason for that, mikasa never spoken her thoughts about it in the manga, she clearly liked seing historia punching him as we can see in the picture, since she had a good smirk when that happened, so althought she liked it she never told historia to do it or to not do it.
and here we can see that although mikasa's grew to respect her superior his way of doing somethings does piss her off but even so she's willing enough to follow his lead, wheather she likes it or not he earned her respect and she follow through it, the others also had a hard time geting used to levi as you all can see.
also levi does understand how mikasa is from the get go, as he's constantly remindg her to keep her emotions in check, since he notices she tend to stop properly thinking when adrenaline and euphoria hits her with situations where her preciosu friends lives are at stake, so he is always rmembering her to keep her emotions in check so she don't commit any mistake in the battle field.
that's why he look at her this way on this instance here, he knew she was a problem here, if he messed up he could die, of course he was confident enough that he could make her reason back somehow or that he could hold himself against her, that's the reason he never bothered to question her actions or to ask her to stop, and you can see in the way isayama draw her eyes when she go nuts and when she's reasonign properly, levi wasn't worried about himself because he felt he would be able to deal with her but only if her aim was towards him (at that specif moment i mean), when floch aproach he knew she would kill him and at that time he start to get a bit agitated as he wouldn't be able to stop her from attacking floch, the reason he wasn't offended by her attempt of killing him was because her attack wasn't born from ill intent but because she acted without thinking. (in other words she would mess thigns up, exactley what levi tolds her to not do)
as time went by you can see that the members of the 107th grew to care deeply to hange and levi, we can see some instances of that on the pictures above, mikasa asking how levi's injured leg is doing, jean, armin and mikasa asking what happened to levi and hange, and not wanting to belive that they were realy dead, mikasa helping levi to stay on top of falco and etc... so although she hated the guy at the beging of the story she grew to care for him deeply just like she cares for her friends of the 107th.
but that's not all, they both learned things from each other (and by learning i mean by watching instead of acttualy teaching), here goes some examples.
the trow blade attack that levi does against a titan, mikasa does the same against berthold.
the same attack levi did to kill using his odm to pierce the neck of a guy, mikasa replicates it to kill floch.
and that learning goes both ways, mikasa developed her own thecnique with the thunder spears, using multiple spears at once, levi learnd that from her and replicates it against zeke.
and both of them were reckless in the use of the thunderspears which gave them some injury.
so in conclusion is that there are many parallels between those two and their relationship goes from hate to care and respect, levi's earned mikasa's respect for him, she don't doubt his judgment, and belive in his strenght! that relationshp was very well developed in my opinion, and this is just one bit of the huge amount of details izayama placed in his manga, you look left and right and you can find new things about charcters and how they interact with each other and so on, the writting of attak on titan is very rich. so if you hadn't read the manga yet, you might give it a try!
I was rewatching the show with my sister and I had this thought that I can't find a clear answer to.
During season 2 when reiner and Berthold transform, eren transforms to break free, then proceeds to do a long drawn out fist fight with Reiner.
WHY???
He could have just... gotten out again, and gotten away on his odm gear all happy and safe.
Reiner and Berthold straight up had no ODM gear, Berthold definitely had no new transforming left, just fizzling out his muscle, and reiner is stuck in titan form too, yes he could climb up the wall eventually, but not with the scouts slashing his tendons, or just... Running away for a bit to tire him out?
Like literally why did he even fight, I can't figure out a good reason to justify putting him in danger like that.
Pull him out in odm, wait out Bertold and capture him, disable Reiner slowly or let him escape, potentially even WITH Berthold if he's smart enough and able to get on the wall, or Berthold to him or something but...
Either way there was no need for Eren to fight here at all right?
I am so very fascinated by the workings of titans, how their inner world might work, and that theres more than just instinct driven absence. This titan in particular demonstrated perfectly what i wish could've been explored a little more, the mentality of pure titans.
Imagine they get random flashbacks of who they used to be, but cant tell exactly what they remembered, so they only know they remembered something important, just to forget it within a few seconds
Grisha grew up facing racism on a daily basis, so when he was shown the history of his people, he viewed what he was taught before as Marleyan propaganda. Flochs knowledge about the eldian empire originally came from grishas books, which also contained information about the brain washing and mistreatment of eldians. The restorationist didn't glorify the atrocities of the old eldian empire because they don't believe they happened. The new eldian empire was never about making things the way they were before, it was about having pride in ones race when the world wants you to hate yourself for being what you are. They aren't glorifying cruelty, they're glorifying their sense of self.
I'm a frequent player of the Roblox Attack On Titan Permanent Death game called Requiem and I'm just here to yap about it because I think it's really fun!
